Reference when privately published
Hi Mikeblas. I see you have added the full citation needed tag to a reference that is in the 1951 New Zealand rugby league season page. I also see under WP:CITEHOW that the only mandatory information missing from the citation is the publisher. In this case the book was self published, so should I add "No publisher" to the reference, which is how Amazon and Abebooks list it? Thanks, Mattlore (talk) 19:59, 2 February 2016 (UTC)
- For this specific title, I think a page number is needed so that someone who wants to verify the claims this reference backs doesn't have to search the whole book to try to find the claims. In addition, self-published books are dubious references; in this case, I can't find any mention of the book anywhere beside Wikipedia and the seller links you've provided. The ISBN numbers don't show up anywhere, and I can't find any information about the author. Is that title really a reliable source?
