Question about WikiProject South Carolina

Greetings, I have been watching WikiProject South Carolina for a while and it doesn't appear to be very active and I had a proposition for the members to consider. I would like to pull WPUS under WikiProject United States to some degree. I am not necessarily talking a full merger unless thats what the members of WPSC want but here is what I mean.

  1. The project would stay the way it is except for a couple things. I would like to replace {{WikiProject South Carolina}} with {{WikiProject United States}} and add WPSC to the list of Projects supported by WPUS. This would include replacing the WPSC template on the talk pages of the articles with WPUS/South Carolina (if you want to see an examply you camn look at Washington DC).
  2. I would also add it to the list of Projects supported by WPUS on the main WPUS landing page.

This would do a couple things that I think would benefit both projects.

  1. It would increase visibility of South Carolina and related articles to a much larger user base
  2. It would allow WPSC to more easily benefit from the Bots running for WPUS. This includes article alert bot that warns of Articles and Images for deletion or Promotion. This would ensure maximum visibility if an article relating to South Carolina was submitted for deletion or promotion.
  3. It would allow the South Carolina related articles to fall under the WPUS and South Carolina scope.
  4. It would somewhat reduce the maintenance required by consolidating the templates
  5. It would reduce the number of templates visibile on the articles
  6. In addition to the above, I typically cycle through all the articles in the WPUS scope every month or 2 fixing various things (sections, typos, persondata, categories, etc) and this would allow the South Carolina articles to fall under that much more easily.

Please let me know what thoughts or ideas you have about this and if the other members would be receptive to this. I also added a message to the talk page of WikiProject South Carolina. Thanks in advance. --Kumioko (talk) 20:58, 11 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Help

Hi Mikhailov, I don't know whether you remember me - you welcomed me when I did my first edits a few months ago. I'm having troubles with another user (PPdd) who deletes my edits because he thinks they don't carry enough citations (I think they do). When I reverted his deletions he threatened to have me blocked (please see my talk page). I don't really know how to defend myself here. Any good advice?   Thank you for making a report about Degogdeg (talk · contribs · block log) on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, it appears that the editor you reported may not have engaged in vandalism, or the user was not sufficiently or appropriately warned. Please note there is a difference between vandalism and unhelpful or misguided edits made in good faith. If the user continues to vandalise after a recent final warning, please re-report it. Thank you. :| TelCoNaSpVe :| 09:15, 29 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Archives

Hi, can you please NOT go around and just randomly archive articles on project talk pages? You create messes with active projects that have other means to archive. If you really think there is a need, at least please discuss on the talk page in question before you go on and create a mess other people have to clean up. WP:AIV

After you revert vandalism and warned user, wait for their next edits before reporting to AIV - we don't block for one edit (except when there is some past history with that user, like sockpuppeting), simply because users might not know our policies. WWE Night Of Champions

Excuse Me, but, do you no why people are reemoving Night of Champions from the List of WWE pay-per-views page, as far as I know, WWE is not removing Night of Champions, I've rumores about them reneming back to Vengeance. But, not removing it, I just though I should let you know, because it's kind of starting to bug me. Thank You

You are free to edit the content of Wikipedia talk:WikiProject California State University/Archive 1 during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. You have created these archives (for this particular WikiProject) before, and they have been deleted before. Please stop archiving talk pages that don't need archiving. Projects that want automatic archiving will set up a bot, there is no need for you to do it. Projects that do not want automatic archiving will not want you to archive for them, as you often do it prematurely. So you should not archive talk pages. —Кузьма討論 06:45, 25 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Help Save Article - Speedy deletion nomination of Barbara Kanam

A tag has been placed on Barbara Kanam, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia for multiple reasons. Please see the page to see the reasons. If the page has since been deleted, you can ask me the reasons by leaving a message on my user talk page.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. mabdul 15:28, 28 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Guardian Angel wanted

I am asking unofficially on behalf of anon users in desperate need of help at Talk:Notzrim on how to deal with disruptions to team efforts by a very belligerent/aggressive sock-puppet/troll. Once upon a time anon-users were an integral part of the building of the encyclopedia, but now we are increasingly sidelined due to bad behavior of a troublesome but comparatively small minority. On principle I do not want to get a wiki account. I hope this choice can be respected. But I find that my requests for help are being ignored. I am looking for a guardian angel from someone very experienced in wiki policy to watch over our process and a friendly voice to tell us where we are going wrong. Can you recommend anyone or at least point me in the right direction? :( 81.103.121.144 (talk) 11:38, 25 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Proposed Tibetan naming conventions

A while back, I posted a new proposal for Tibetan naming conventions, i.e. conventions that can be used to determine the most appropriate titles for articles related to the Tibetan region. This came out of discussions about article titles on Talk:Qamdo and Talk:Lhoka (Shannan) Prefecture. I hope that discussions on the proposal's talk page will lead to consensus in favour of making these conventions official, but so far only a few editors have left comments. If you would be interested in taking a look at the proposed naming conventions and giving your opinion, I would definitely appreciate it. Thanks—Nat Krause(Talk!·What have I done?) 15:49, 2 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

If you don't know what the code does... please don't delete it.

Hi, your edit [Revision as of 09:06, 5 December 2009] caused our archive bot to stop working. I'm sure you meant well, but this code, just ads the Archive box:

{{Archive box|auto=yes}}

It's the code below that actually makes the MiszaBot_II work.

{{User:MiszaBot/config
 |archiveheader = {{talkarchivenav}}
 |maxarchivesize = 30K
 |counter = 2
 |minthreadsleft = 5
 |minthreadstoarchive = 2
 |algo = old(30d)
 |archive = Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Portugal/Archive %(counter)d
 }}

I hope that helps. Happy editing!
