Ways to improve Startingbloc
editHi, I'm JamesG5. Milkosia, thanks for creating Startingbloc!
I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Some issues were addressed with edits, but the page is written like an ad or PR release. Contained multiple unsourced claims about results, inappropriate inline links to the subject site's page & application, etc. Needs sources & neutral language.
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. JamesG5 (talk) 04:39, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
- Please see the edit summary I left for some additional details on issues with the page. You might also want to take a look at WP:PROMO for how to avoid the appearance of promotional edits, and WP:CITE for adding sources to verify notability of the topic. - Ok, if you look here https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Startingbloc&action=history you can see a summary of all edits on the page, and comments from the people who made them. I mention inline web links & promotional material. The only links you should have in the body of the article are links to other Wiki articles, like this Startingbloc. You shouldn't put links like this Startingbloc in an article, that belongs in an "external links" section. You need to source the information on the page, and that means reliable THIRD PARTY sources (see WP:RS), not just links to the subject website. That's especially true if you're citing things like "success rates." The page also needs categories, for more on that see Help:Category. You also need to be really careful about directly using, or closely paraphrasing, text from the subject site & make sure everything's in your own words. Those words need to be in a strictly neutral tone, too, see WP:NPOV.
- I hope that's enough to get you started, I made a few more small cleanup edits. One other note, if you go to someone else's talk page like you did with mine and you're starting a new conversation, rather than just putting a note on the page you should click on "New Section" and title it with what it's about & put your comment there. That puts the comment at the bottom of the page. It should look like this: User_talk:JamesG5#StartingBloc (I moved your comment to a new section). Lastly, make sure you put 4 of these ~ after any comments you leave so the system creates a signature for you. This should help, good luck with your assignment. - And do take a look at WP:CITE. Your links aren't formatted properly, they work but the format's not ideal. Makes them prone to errors. That's not a requirement, it just makes the page better. JamesG5 (talk) 05:23, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
- I removed the "Uncategorized" tag, I also removed one category, as it was not one that ties to anything else on Wikipedia. I'm not sure which error you're seeing, check out the guide at Help:Infobox picture. Don't forget to sign comments with four of these ~ :-) JamesG5 (talk) 06:17, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
