edit

Tsultrim Allione was ordained as a Tibetan Buddhist nun in Bodhgaya, India by the 16th KarmapaRangjung Rigpe Dorje—in 1969. After more than three years living the monastic life, she made the decision to return to lay life.[1]

In 1993 she founded Tara Mandala, a community that teaches adherents Chöd meditation; she was given authorization to teach this by Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche. Located near Pagosa Springs in Colorado, she offers instruction at Tara Mandala in Tantric and Dzogchen exercises. One of the unique qualities of the community is the fostering of total equality between the sexes, adhering to Allione's mission of bringing femininity to the fore of Western Buddhism.[2]
