User talk:Mindsite/DSM-IV Proposal
Copyright
editI note that the discussion on use of the DSM-IV hasn't actually concluded whether you personally licensing your copy is OK, yet. Should it conclude it is, I'll be happy to support any proposal. At the moment I think it can best be used in mental health articles (say, the schizophrenia article) as an example of the industry standard (other than the WHO textbook, which is heavily limited (although the DSM has it's issues) to diagnose diseases, and also to expand the article on the DSM itself. Other than that I honestly can't think of many uses, but inclusion of industry standard work (like the use of the standardised "mammals of the world" taxonomy book for fauna) is something I support stridently if we can get the licensing. - Thanks for offering to help. I just finished updating a redacted table of what we published from the DSM-IV as well as relevant wiki links to consider adding material too. I don't think that it is an exhaustive list; further some could definitely be removed. The work in progress is here now. I would argue that this may be a useful ontology for organizing mental health information in Wikipedia. I've also found that many pages that should belong to the psyche project are not tied in.
