A quick note
editHi Mindthegap123,
Please stop using separate edits for each change you make to the page Dave Kitson. I see that you have made around 35 edits in the span of about half an hour, each edit carrying no more than one or two sentences or changes, usually strange removals of content. The only explanation that I see for this behavior is that this is an attempt to artificially increase your edit count in order to achieve some arbitrary mark.
Editing in this fashion is generally frowned upon and I urge you to change your ways.
Please also be aware that this sort of editing to achieve the "Extended Confirmed" status in order to vandalize protected pages will not be tolerated, and vandalism will be dealt with according to Wikipedia's policies.
Thanks, AriTheHorse 02:07, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
- The page/article has been improved with the edits I have made. Your comment that I have in some way tried to "artificially increase an edit count in order to achieve some arbitrary mark" is inaccurate (and entirely speculative). I have no aim or wish to "achieve some arbitrary mark". My aim was to improve the article, which I have done. For example, I have improved some of the wording in the article, changed placement of images to improve the look of the article, and removed a large gap that appeared in the Career Statistics section as a result of the placement of the image of Dave Kitson playing for Oxford United in that section. In summary, the overall result is an improvement in this article (which was my aim and is encouraged). Mindthegap123 (talk) 02:34, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
Yes, while you may argue that the result is overall improvement (and even then it's not clear whether a majority of your edits actually did any true improvement), that improvement could be made in one large edit as opposed to fifty smaller ones. The large edit would have been preferred.- AriTheHorse 02:40, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
- AriTheHorse, kindly show Mindthegap123 a policy or guideline which advocates one large edit instead of numerous small ones. A new editor needs time to find their way around the site and it is perfectly okay to improve an article with 35 edits as they work their way through it.
- Your suggestion that Mtg123 is seeking "an arbitrary mark" to facilitate vandalism is completely unwarranted and you should withdraw it with an apology.
- As for Dave Kitson, I think it is a better article now than it was previously. Batagur baska (talk) 04:52, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
Apologies
editMindthegap123,
I owe you an apology... I havebehaved in a way which was improper, and which I personally advertise against (check out my userpage and you'll see what I mean). Jumping to the conclusion that you were trying to vandalise was improper and unkind of me, not to mention against policy. I will work to ensure that I do not behave like this in the future.
I hope that you receive this in good grace, and I hope that we can both move past this sorry incident.
Sincerely,
AriTheHorse 15:10, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
