Proposed deletion of Key Colony (condominium)

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Key Colony (condominium), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Independent newspaper

edit

I removed your addition of a paragraph about the Key Biscayne Independent to the Key Biscayne, Florida article because you did not provide an indepedent reliable source about the paper. A quick Google search did not reveal any sources about the newpaper other than sites belonging to the paper. In addition, per WP:ELPOINTS, do not directly link external sites in the body of an article. Links to external sites should be included in a source citation, when appropriate. - Donald Albury 19:56, 25 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

This is a new online nonprofit newspaper. You can find a corroborating link at Guidestar Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page).https://www.guidestar.org/profile/85-2357996Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page).. Can you please it back? Miratony (talk) 20:22, 4 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Miratony: Please read the guideline at Wikipedia:Spam for information on some of the restrictions on what can be added to Wikipedia, and the policy at Wikipedia:Reliable_sources for information on what can be used as sources to support material that is added to Wikipedia. I note that another editor has reverted your recent re-addition to the article of information about that news site as "trivia". Please read the advice at Wikipedia:BOLD, revert, discuss cycle, and the policy at WP:Edit warring, before attempting to add that material to the article again. - Donald Albury 00:36, 5 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
I have read the links you mentioned. I rewrote the earlier addition of the Key Biscayne Independent to include 'reliable sources' at your request. The first addition was rejected literally because of cursory Google check without further elaboration. The newspaper itself is a source, under a fair reading of the Wikipedia policy. In an attempt to satisfy your objections, I added corroborating links to Guidestar/Candid, a respected information service that verifies the status of nonprofit organizations, and the affiliation with the Institute for Nonprofit News, which has vetted the Key Biscayne Independent. I also looked at[:WP:BRD-NOT] which may apply to your most recent deletion. Can you please be more specific with your reasoning in this case? Perhaps there is a phrasing or citation that would satisfy your concerns.Miratony (talk) 13:19, 5 August 2021 (UTC Miratony (talk) 14:23, 5 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
You need to find independent reliable sources that discuss the Key Biscayne Independent to justify adding it to Wikipedia. Also, I notice that all of your edits in the last year have been about that news site. Do you have a connection to or interest in the news site? If you do have a connection with the news site, the guideline at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest requires that you disclose that interest. - Donald Albury 14:47, 5 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I am trying to better understand the Wikipedia article creation and editing process. There is a lot of material, so bear with me please.
I am the editor in chief of the Key Biscayne Independent, and a 30-year Associated Press veteran. I already added some disclosure material that you may have not seen --not sure it went in the right place --please let me know where it needs to go. (I have a Draft pending.
While I am the editor, the organization is a nonprofit and I have no financial interest.
As for "independent reliable" sources...do you believe the Institute for Nonprofit News does not fit that criteria? Guidestar is also an organization that independently vets nonprofits. Miratony (talk) 15:00, 5 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
