Welcome message and hello...
editGreetings. The information above is a welcome template I've placed on your talk page as an introduction to Wikipedia. The message following this one was placed on your page before I added the welcome information. Usually, messages are added in chronological sequence, but because you had not yet been welcomed, I posted the hello message at the top of your page.
When you read comments here on your talk page, or on the talk page of any article, you can follow the discussion threads by watching the indentation levels and the signatures of the editors who posted the messages. In the case of the message just below this one, it was posted by someone else, and I am now going to add a reply, so you will see my reply indented below his initial message. If you have any further questions, you are welcome to contact me on my talk page by leaving a new message at the bottom of the page. You can get there by clicking the "Hello" in my signature. For some hints about ways to communicate on talk pages, this is a good introduction: Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines. The link in the box above on "how to edit a page" may also be particularly helpful. --Parzival418 Hello 00:57, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
Article changes
editIf you wish to make significant changes to an article you first need to discuss the changes on the article talk page. If your changes are supported by a genuine consensus of other editors, and can be supported by reliable third party reference sources, then and only then can they be implemented. Please note that repeatedly removing properly cited content from WP is considered vandalism and may result in your account being blocked. --Gene_poole 23:43, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
- Gene Poole, your uncivil comment to this new editor is a violation of multiple Wikipedia policies and is factually incorrect. I ask that you refrain from using threats and unfounded accusations to intimidate users from editing in good faith. --Parzival418 Hello 00:57, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
don't worry about Gene Poole's uncivil comment above
editMiss Bea Haiving, thank you for your improvements to the Space music article. You do not need to feel threatened by user Gene Pool's comment just above. He is using an inappropriate and overly aggressive tone in his communication with you. You have not violated any policies and you are not in danger of being blocked. In fact, the message Gene Poole posted on your page is itself of violation of policy, because he is accusing you of vandalism with no basis. Some of the policies and guidelines he has violated here are these, which you may want to read: Wikipedia:Civility, Wikipedia:No personal attacks, and Wikipedia:Assume good faith.
You may already know some or all of what I'm telling you, but just in case this is all new to you, I thought it would be a good idea to offer some perspective so that you don't feel chased away by the comments of one user who has a history of disruptive editing and trying to own, or control, articles that he edits.
Whatever he says to you, don't take it personally. That's just his way of communicating. You can feel safe editing here. He has no special authority in Wikipedia, even though he writes as if he does. Wikipedia has a variety of procedures for resolving problems, and those procedures would come into play long before any of his threats would come to pass. As I mentioned above, you are welcome to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions. --Parzival418 Hello 00:57, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
Hopefully you'll be back at some point=
editMadame, you are away for your summer holydays, aren't you? I hope that you haven't left this site, and that you'll be back soon. Best wishes.--Doktor Who 23:49, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
