With regard to the statement that Richard Tiffany Gere is a descendant of Joseph Burr Tiffany, the familial relationship is actually 5th cousins, twice removed. Their common ancestor is James Tiffany (b. 16??, d. 1732; son of Squire Humphrey Tiffany).
