Proposed deletion of Postmodernism Building in Malaysia

edit

Hello, Moh xui. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Postmodernism Building in Malaysia, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Staglit (talk) 23:36, 26 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • I have deleted the article as either copyright violation, or self-promotion. As the deletion nomination said, the contents of the article did not match the title. The title was "Postmodernism Building in Malaysia" (which is poor English anyway; I assume you meant something like "Postmodernism in Malaysian architecture"), but the article made no mention of postmodernism. Instead, it started as if it were about the Menara Axis building; but that wasn't mentioned again after the first sentence, either, and all the rest of the article was about the building's architect, Nik Mohamed Mahmood. The text was rather promotional in nature, and has been copied from his profile (resume) here. - Mike Rosoft (talk) 04:14, 27 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Again, you need to make up your mind what is the subject of your article.

  • If the article is about the Menara Axis building, it needs to be moved to Menara Axis, and the references need to actually mention the building.
  • If it's about the architect, then the article has to be rewritten so that it is actually about the architect, not about one particular building he designed, and still it would have to be moved to Nik Mohamed Mahmood. In this case the third-party references that actually mention the architect are twice as important; article about a living person without reliable sources may be liable for deletion.
  • But instead, you have created the article at Postmodernism Building in Malaysia. Wikipedia already has an article about Postmodern architecture; at this point, I don't think there's any need for a specific article about postmodern architecture in Malaysia.

See the inclusion (notability) guidelines, especially the guideline for buildings and other man-made structures. See also the naming conventions; if the article is really about the building, the title should include its official or commonly used name; when that is not available, then another designation that uniquely identify the building (e.g. its address) - not just a particular quality the building may have. "Postmodernism Building in Malaysia" is not a good title; if for no other reason, then because there are probably many buildings of that style in Malaysia.

I have made a quick search using Google, but it has mostly returned various business listings and other trivial coverage; so I am going to give your article a couple of days of a grace period, and then - unless the problems have been addressed - I will probably nominate it for deletion. - Mike Rosoft (talk) 20:27, 2 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
