edit

Hi Guysayshi, there is no paid link between North South Line and Downtown Line at Newton station.

@Irobotboy: I am aware of this. Please see your talk page for my reply. Guysayshi (talk) 21:21, 11 October 2017

Reliable sources

edit

Just saying, land transport guru is not a blog and is a reliable secondary source. It is like a MRT only Wikipedia, except that it also provides transport guides and more in depth information. I don't get why it can't be used as a source. Then again, just saying - 1.02 editor (talk) 12:22, 10 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

@1.02 editor: May I ask, how do you know that it is reliable? How do you know the author(s) of the posts are professional or are qualified to write about the topic? Are the content in the posts based on facts (ie. from LTA or SMRT) or original research? I will be willing to accept the reference if it's reliability can be proven. Guysayshi (talk) 21:47, 10 October 2017

How do I know it's reliable? Maybe you should take a look for yourself. And are the people there qualified to write? If they aren't qualified then we also aren't. They cite reliable sources or personally research themselves. Much of the info there is one that only a enthusiast or staff would know (not suggesting anything) (the operators don't publish such info, and we have to dig it out ourselves) and as i said earlier, has much more in-depth content then that of Wikipedia. I still feel that the best way to verify it is for you to check it out yourself. Take a look, cross-check the info, and maybe you would learn something new there (as I did, many times). I understand that we don't go that in depth on such topics, but they do, and provides a good and reliable source of information, including more photos and videos. As I said, much of the stuff there is done by personal research (which enthusiasts like me do) and although reliable, it's hard to prove (as these are stuff the government and operators don't publish) unless you verify it yourself. Hope that you can take some time to look for yourself. - 1.02 editor (talk) 08:10, 11 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

@1.02 editor: I have checked the website and most of the cited content there can be obtained directly from LTA, SMRT or news outlets. The people that write those articles are enthusiasts ("a small team of contributors") and their qualifications are unknown. Editors on Wikipedia are not entitled to write their own opinions. Instead, they (mostly) contribute by finding sourced information from many references, collate and organise them, and then place the information into one cohesive place, that is, on Wikipedia. While we are not qualified to contribute original research, we can help ensure content in the article is as factual and relevant to the article as possible. While I appreciate your efforts to find a source to back up information in the MRT article, I think it is best not to add Land Transport Guru as a reference, at least for now. I don't think I have the authority to verify the information on LTG's site, and so far I don't think any other MRT articles have LTG as references. Anyhow, I will try to unearth any reliable and official sources that can back up the claims in the article. Guysayshi (talk) 19:26, 11 October 2017

.io

edit

I noticed you removed my links to .io, but my reasoning behind adding the links was that it would connect the articles to the page on the greater "whatever.io" trend. Jjjjjjdddddd (talk) 23:20, 12 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Jjjjjjdddddd: There's no need to for the link "Slither.io" and "Agar.io" because they are given names and not actually domains in the context of the first sentence of each of their articles. Guysayshi (talk) 11:58, 12 October 2017
