Thanks for uploading Image:Austria2003.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. Thanks for uploading Image:Gordonkeith.JPG. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.

BV warning

Howdy and welcome to wikipedia. I noticed that you added a blatent vandal warning to Colin Kimbrell (talk • contribs). I assume this was over the edits to the Mike Rhyner article. Keep in mind that bv is the most serious vandalism warning, and although his edit was perhaps in err, Colin Kimbrell's edits seemed to be in good faith. As such, I have removed the vandalism warning. Thanks for adding copyright info to the image of Gordon Keith. I didn't want to give you an unnecessarily hard time about it, but using images without a license is the sort of thing that often ends in lawsuits, so it's better to be safe than sorry. -Colin Kimbrell 04:49, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

WP:NPA

In regards to the recent deletion debate which you have been involved in over Bob Sturm, I would like to remind you that wikipedia has a very strong policy against personal attacks. You have violated that policy on multiple occasions. Pleas keep a cool head when discussing potential articles for deletion (and at all other times for that matter), and remember that you can in fact get banned for violating this policy too many times. --Bachrach44 01:00, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

As a joint message to both JohnM4402 and Monosylab1k (msg left on both talk pages), I would ask you both to refrain from making personal comments about each other on afd discussions. The discussions should be about the article, and not related to the person making the comment.

As to using audio archives as a source, I would agree that they are a verifiable source (although dates would be required, just like references to publications on paper), however, I would not regarded them as a reliable source, and would perfer secondary sources, especially when referring to living people, as per WP:BLP. Also, it should be noted that analysis of the primary source (i.e. the radio program) rather than direct reporting, would be classed as original research, which is not accepted at wikipedia. Reference requests

Hello. If you find an article that you feel is unreferences/not referenced enough, the first thing to do is to bring it up on the article talk page, and not add them to one particular users page, which are doing now.[1] As the Afd discussion mentioned unverifiable claimes, posting multiple unrelated reference requests on the talk page of one of the person who mentioned it, could very easily be seen as disrupting Wikipedia to illustrate a point which is frowned on. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Steve Nash. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content which gains a consensus among editors.

I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. Thanks for uploading Image:Cowboys-announcement2.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
