Do not upload images with non-commercial licence, or says "all rights reserved", or does not show proper licence. It is copyright violation. If you continue this, you may be blocked. Ta-tea-two-te-to (talk) 15:34, 17 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello, it was a mistake and I am sorry about that. How and from what sources can I upload files without copyright infringement? Please advise me on this. MontanaM55 (talk) 16:22, 17 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
The general rule is that if you take the picture yourself, you may upload. That does not include scanning an image from a book or magazine; even if you take a picture of a painting or other flat piece of art, there are limitations on that.
Otherwise, the website that the image is from must state that it is in a free license, such as a Creative Commons license.
Now, if the image is already on Wikimedia Commons and you add it to an article, like you did at Symsagittifera, that's fine. —C.Fred (talk) 16:32, 17 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Ok. Thanks MontanaM55 (talk) 17:12, 17 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

About the image you added to Pongo hooijeri

edit

I reverted the edit that added an image to Pongo hooijeri because I believe the image is of the wrong species. I looked at the image and cross referenced it with the other article that had the image. The image was referencing the Mainland Orangutan. I believe that the two species went extinct in two different geological eras. If you believe that I am in error, feel free to revert. Thanks! Ok, no problem.
I just used the existing file and didn't know about its validity. MontanaM55 (talk) 17:23, 2 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
