Hello, MorganJewelS and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears you are participating in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to go through our training for students. Go through our online training for students

If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Please also read this helpful advice for students.

Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.

Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, and if your class doesn't already have one please tell your instructor about that. It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}} on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and aid your communication with them.

We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay even after your assignment is finished! Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 01:57, 31 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Good work on Mabel Byrd

edit

You've mad good solid contributions to improve the Mabel Byrd article! I've found more newspaper article sources which I will list on the article's talk page shortly.

One issue we will need to sort out involves the images you posted on WikiMedia Commons. Unfortunately, they will probably be deleted within the next week because WikiMedia requires all images must carry a CC-by-SA copyright license or be in the public domain (if it was published before 1923 in the US--I think the current images were published circa 1926). The other exception to the CC-by-SA requirement that can be used to post an image on a non-living biography is if a single image is uploaded NOT on Wikimedia Commons, but here on Wikipedia with a "fair use rationale", and on condition it will be relatively low resolution and only used in one article. (Click on the image in the Polly Povey Thompson article, then select "edit source" to see code you can copy/modify for the rationale.) There's an image of her here that possibly was published before 1923, but I haven't been able to find a publication date. So using the Wikipedia upload process and writing a fair use rationale will probably be the best way to go.

Let me know if you want to tackle this somewhat complicated image uploading process, or if you want my help. Part of the fun in writing/editing for Wikipedia is collaborating with other editors... Welcome to editing! — Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 06:23, 18 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

My error-- the images were posted by another editor, but the process of uploading an image is something you may want to try. Sorry for my confusion! — Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 19:18, 18 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
