{{help me}} Hi Gaijin42 thanks for your message. Why can the article Culturescapes not be retained? I did look at the Your first article page and I tried my best to make a good start to the article. Please be aware it is not finished yet, but I ran out of time. I spent quite long on it and would really appreciate it if it was not deleted. Can you tell me what's wrong with the article so I can fix it?

Thanks --Morgemonster (talk) 17:57, 11 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

The main issue is WP:NOTABILITY. You have in included 3 references in your article. All of these are WP:PRIMARY WP:SELFPUBLISHED sources. We need 3rd party WP:RELIABLESOURCES to ensure both WP:NOTABILITY and WP:VERIFIABILITY. If you are aware of good sources (preferably independent books, magazines, in depth newspaper articles etc) you can add them to the article, which may result in the article being kept. If the article is deleted, you may ask the deleting admin to userfy the article for you, so you can continue to improve it in your userspace. After that I would suggest Wikipedia:Articles_for_creation as a good place to get feedback on the article to see if it is up to standards before it gets moved back into article space. Let me know if you have further questions. Gaijin42 (talk) 18:04, 11 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Gaijin42 Right, I see. I do have third party sources (newspapers etc.), but did not have time to add them yet. I can add them tomorrow. Thanks for your answers and advice! --Morgemonster (talk) 18:18, 11 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Gaijin42
I've edited the article and included more third party sources. Is it ok now? If yes, how can I get the deletion tag to be removed?

--Morgemonster (talk) 11:37, 12 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

The article no longer qualifies for WP:SPEEDY deletion, but is still generally borderline. The basellandschaftliche Zeitung and time out Israel references are good, but that is pretty much it for refs that qualify. The badische-zeitung ref is really about the play, not Culturescapes so doesn't show much WP:NOTABILITY. The vast majority of the sources used are WP:PRIMARY documents that are WP:SELFPUBLISHED by the group itself (Also, since so many of the sources are that way, it raises the possibility of a WP:COI issue, re you associated/employed by the group?). Others are press releases, or from sites affiliated or cooperating with the group and therefore failing the independence test. The BDS item is a also WP:PRIMARY (Although kudos to the program for standing up against BDS)

For now the page won't be deleted, but in its current state it is likely to be deleted in the future. Wikipedia is not a marketing brochure. If the information is not WP:VERIFIABLE from WP:SECONDARY sources, it should be removed. The article should be repeating the content made in WP:SECONDARY WP:RELIABLESOURCES if there are only two, its likely to be nominated for deletion again in the future. Hi Gaijin42
I thought for my first article, it would be easier to work from an existing wikipedia article in a different language (German), to get used to all the formatting etc. I know there are a lot of self-published primary sources, but some I included to expand on the individual festival programs. (Festival edition listings). Of course the Badische Zeitung ref is about the play being performed as part of the festival. That reference is specifically about the Frljic play, which is why the foot note is placed just after the name of the artist. There is also a ref by the swiss government (DEZA, SPD in English) and the Chinese Embassy, but I will try to improve the article by finding more secondary sources... Many thanks for your help.

Speedy deletion nomination of Culturescapes

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Culturescapes requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Gaijin42 (talk) 16:53, 11 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Jurriaan Cooiman

Jurriaan Cooiman moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Jurriaan Cooiman, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
