Maramureş
editHi, Thank you very much for your contributions about Maramureş and Northern Maramuresh. I am sorry that now I have very little time to give to WP, and I have started some organization in some Romania-related portions of the category tree, which is difficult to do if you also actively edit some topic. Maramureş was a topic that interested me about 1 and 1/2 years ago, and that's when I editted it on WP. Right after I got interested in something else, I found more sources about Maramureş, which needs lots of processing (hundreeds of pages to read). As a result, to some extent, I left the topic, keeping in mind that when I will come back to it, I will spend on it alone many days. That is because now it is not about jump-starting the topic, but about a good qualititive presentation.
Because I don't have that kind of time now, and because there are other topics that can be solved with much less time effort, I have postponed my return to this topic, and still don't know when I will be back to it. Therefore, as much as I appreciate you guys working on this in Romanian WP, I can not help much with translating it in English, at least not for now. But I will definitevely come back to it. And to repeat myself: it is no longer just to mention basic facts about Maramureş, now it is about quality. Dc76\talk 08:44, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hello Dc76,
- I’ve actually read and analyzed very much bibliography on this topic, and being myself from Maramureş I can gather and verify much information.
- Mainly I plan to work on romanian WP, and I wanted to get your attention on that because of the organisation of this subject. It was pretty confusing before, and now I tried to clarify as much as possible, and simlify it.
- I don’t consider myself having enough skill to manage an encyclopedy content in english, so I will only try to improve the accuracy of te information on this side.
- Otherwise I consider Northern Maramuresh a good article and well documented, even meybe too large for an enyclopedy. :-)
Being not from Maramureş, but wanting to learn about it, I rather gathered everything worth telling in the WP articles, using mostly internet. As a result, the articles are not well written and some are too long. Especially, the info/length ratio is low, while (mistakes+miunderstandings)/length ratio is high. One of the books I want to mention to you is: Marian Tomi "Maramuresul istoric in date". It is not ideal, contains misspellings etc, but it is one of the most informative sources I ever found about this subject. Also, it has the advantage of having a rather large biblio. I did not use it as a sourse for WP, because I found it later. In case you don't have it, I strongly recommend it.
I am glad you think about organization of the articles. Please, keep us informed about the way these subjects are being organized in the Romanian WP, so we can to a reasonable extent reproduce the organization here. We, because I am sure you noticed several other editors. I would highly recomend User:Biruitorul, User:Olahus, User:Bogdangiusca, User:Gutza, User:Mentatus to name only those recently active.
I discovered much later about categories, templates, etc. Now I am in the process of organizing other articles I helped editting. As a result I am working on the Category:History of Romania tree, since that often tells us in which article to put info (I discovered a number of cases when different articles retell the same story)
As soon as I will be done with that, I will have to tend to a number of articles with problems. And after that, I will get back to expanding content, inclugin among first priorities, about Maramures. Therefore, please feel free to correct any factual mistakes or inexactness you see (we are not knowledgible as you are!). Don't worry about English grammar and spelling - we have developed a good network of acqaintances, including people who are willing to help: if the only problem is that, we can solve it very quickly. But I worry because sometimes I used internet sources whose accuracy I can question. For this kind of things we need people from the area who can spot a mistake right away. Also, if you advance more in the Romanian WP, we can translate more material when it's ready there.
Also, I believe in creating more specific articles, too. For example Dragoş, Sighet prison, Ioan Mihaly de Apşa. Dc76\talk 01:40, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for your support, and I'll try to help in the best way I can. For bigger changes, I will post first in the discussion page of the articles. --Morosanul (talk) 07:08, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

- Ok, is done now. It was only moved to the new article. --Morosanul (talk) 15:13, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, please see: this and this. We will need to check all double redirects. This list contains everything that links to Maramureş. As you can notice, there are quite a number of sublists. In the end, there should be only one linear list. Here is a typical edit we must perform. Since none of the people editing this page runs any bot, we should do it manually, or ask for help. But we should do it, we should not leave it just like that. Dc76\talk 03:41, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
