In first response to your comment-I don't even like Britney Spears, and if I never hear more of her it'll be too soon. She was just used by way of example.

As to the rest, I'm sorry if anyone was upset by the placing of maintenance tags. The purpose of these tags is to categorize articles which need some work on various issues (such as a lack of sources or unclear notability), so that they'll be seen by Wikipedia editors who work on these categories. This ensures that articles don't "fall to the bottom" and fail to get worked on. It's intended to help new articles get better!

As to Erielhonan, I have seen him make many positive contributions, and indeed he helped me quite a bit when I was new. Far from being an "admirer" of mine, however, he has quite often disagreed with me! Through dialogue, we were both able to become better editors, and to see each other's viewpoint.

As to the article in question, I placed no tags on the article in question (Patricio Manns) which requested its deletion-only tags requesting that problems be addressed. If these issues really do exist, it is necessary for these tags to be there, to call attention to future editors who can fix them! It sounds like Manns very likely is notable, so I doubt if he would be deleted. Seraphimblade 13:30, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Jara

edit

I removed much of the trivia section of the article because listing every time someone somewhere has said or written the words "Victor Jara" is utterly useless. There is really no way of incorporating it into the article in an encyclopedic manner. I left the borderline examples, such as where Jara is the actual subject of a song or such, and things named for him. But The Clash's song, for example, merely mentions him once is passing (and it's mentioned in the Washington Bullets article already). Are we to mention the Clash in an article for every single proper noun they use in each and every song? I hope not. These "mentions in fiction" sections are getting ridiculous. ("A background character is seen drinking Sprite in Episode 12, season 3 of Seventh Heaven!" We dont need that sort of thing.) so there's my explanation. -R. fiend 21:23, 15 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Caspi-cover.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Caspi-cover.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Proposed deletion of Nick Beams

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Nick Beams, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Fails WP:BIO; no evident notability

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Category:Former members of MAPU

edit

For every category you create, you should specify parent categories to which it belongs. You can do this by listing the parents near the bottom of the page, each enclosed in double brackets like so:

[[Category:Chilean politicians by ideology]]
[[Category:Hypothetical second category]]

I've added at least one parent to the category. I invite you to check my work for accuracy and completeness.

I am a human being, not a bot, so you can contact me if you have questions about this. Best regards, --Stepheng3 (talk) 20:54, 27 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Your edit to Salvador Allende

edit

Given the record of human right abuses during Pinochet's government, I don’t know if you were being ironic or you actually meant it, but this addition:

After September 11, 1973 with Pinochet there was no violence only peace and tranquility[1]

it is not only highly questionable, it is also lacking references. I have, therefore, reverted your last edit to the article.

Please avoid personal attacks

edit

First off and as per WP:CIVIL you should not use the edit description for anything else, other than giving a summary of your edit. Needless is to say that personal attacks don't lead to a constructive editing environment. You should also know that repeated or egregious personal attacks may lead to blocks. Finally and for FYI, I did report the incident here [2]

Per above, edit summaries are shown when reviewing editing histories (and contib summaries) so are much more visible and can only be removed with specialist tools. Under such circumstances, it is not permissible to use them to attack other editors. Do not do it again. To avoid misunderstanding, this is an official warning and you may be blocked if you continue to violate policy. LessHeard vanU (talk) 00:13, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Right-wing political support for the 1973 Chilean coup

edit

A tag has been placed on Right-wing political support for the 1973 Chilean coup requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Paranormal Skeptic (talk) 19:05, 5 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

I just changed the tag from "speedy deletion" to "proposed deletion." It is my view that this belongs on the talk page of the original article unless you're planning to do some more work on it to make it stand alone. The Uninvited Co., Inc. 19:13, 5 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

You have been reported for violation of WP:GD on the deletion of an AfD template

edit

You can see or respond here [3] Likeminas (talk) 19:12, 17 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

You say that you know the policy, but you still removed the AfD template more than once, even after it was explained to you that you were violating the rules for deletion discussions. Please don't do that again: bring up your points on the deletion discussion page, and convince everyone you're right.--SarekOfVulcan (talk) 19:20, 17 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

AfD talkpage

edit

Don't suppose you thought about putting any of that into the article, instead of a page nobody's actually going to read? As it stands, the article says very little that isn't on the main page, and nothing obvious that makes it about "right-wing support" in particular. You only have a couple of days to improve the article so we change our votes, better get to it.--SarekOfVulcan (talk) 20:19, 21 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Moshe, I saw your entry on the talk page of the AfD. And I gotta tell you; that’s the wrong place to cast your vote. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Right-wing_political_support_for_the_1973_Chilean_coup Follow the link above and submit it as soon as possible. RCJ

edit

Yeah I remember creating that article a long time ago. The main source for it is John Dinges' book "The Condor Years" which is largely regarded as one of the best books on Operation Condor. Here are some documents where the National Security Archive releases documents of intelligence agencies in the Southern Cone investigating the RCJ:

Alerted by the Paraguayans, the Southern Cone intelligence agencies began participating in the interrogation of Santucho and Fuentes Alarcón. In these two documents, Argentine intelligence agent José Osvaldo Ribeiro [aka Rawson] lists a series of questions to interrogate Santucho (referred to as "Alicia" in the documents) and Fuentes Alarcón (referred to as "Nene"). The interrogation is aimed at obtaining information on the strength and activities of the Revolutionary Coordinating Junta (JCR), a coalition of the guerrillas of the Chilean MIR, the Argentine ERP, the Uruguayan MLN-Tupamaros and the Bolivian ELN. The intelligence agent requests that Santucho “Clarifies the reason of his trip…But without any lies – So far he has lied all the time and has prolonged the investigation…What was his position within the JCR?” Regarding Nene, Rawson demands: “Since when does he know Patricio Antonio Biedma? What was Biedma’s role within the JCR?” A Chilean, Biedma, was disappeared after being secretly held at the clandestine detention center Automotores Orletti in Buenos Aires in 1976. I have nominated List of MIR (Chile) members assassinated by the Pinochet regime, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of MIR (Chile) members assassinated by the Pinochet regime. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. \ Backslash Forwardslash / (talk) 23:59, 22 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

The AfD shows how truly ignorant the average Wikipedian is, with conflation of the Memorial rule, a rule against people wandering in and putting up a page to honor their aunt or grandfather, and your historical record. If you are interested in continuing the lists, which look like they are headed for deletion, please contact me, I have a place for them. Anarchangel (talk) 15:35, 27 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unreferenced BLPs

edit

Hello Moshe-paz! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 50 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Manns el sueno americano.jpg

edit

Thank you for uploading File:Manns el sueno americano.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Aspects (talk) 23:41, 13 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Los Galos

edit

The article Los Galos has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

not very well made. little content and not a notable band

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Wilbysuffolk talk 19:43, 14 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Better source request for File:20 años despues.jpg

edit

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 21:13, 21 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
