Disambiguation link notification for June 4
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Imperiali family, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Noble House. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:00, 4 June 2022 (UTC)

Coat of Arms of the Worshipful Company of Ironmongers
editHello MostEpic, I saw you added the Ironmongers' coat of arms to their relevant page. Does it not also need their crest and supporters (see here[1]), or is that not Wiki policy/accepted herladic practice? Also, it appears the one they use on their website 'curls' at the edges (see here[2]), does that need to be reflected too?
Apologies for my ignorance.
Adam Kehrle (talk) 15:08, 7 September 2022 (UTC)
- I don't think that using only the arms or the full coat of arms makes too much difference, but i'm not sure. Also the version of the coat of arms used on the site doesn't need to be the exact same as the one used on wikipedia, as long as it's made using the same blazon[3] (which is a sort of description that is used to describe coat of arms) MostEpic (talk) 19:06, 7 September 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply! I started investigating this after I saw someone had removed the perfectly good SVG coat of arms for the Worshipful Company of Mercers with the reason: "Removed fanciful re-imagination of actual coat of arms. A random individual's unique creative "take" has no place in an encyclopedia". Which seems rather harsh!
- I hope you don't mind, but I fiddled around with the description of commons:File:Arms of the Worshipful Company of Ironmongers.svg. I added in commons:Template:COAInformation and commons:Template:Coa blazon. The latter template may assist in pushing back on the argument above in the future. Is this helpful, and would you mind if I applied these templates to more of your creations?
- There's also a high quality version of the coat of arms as used by the modern day Company of Ironmongers available on the internet here, but unfortunately I don't think copyright rules would allow it to be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons.

Original Research regarding heraldry
editPlease do not add original research or novel syntheses of published material to articles as you apparently did to Lucius O'Brien, 15th Baron Inchiquin. Please cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. Horse Eye's Back (talk) 16:37, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks, I reuploaded the file with a proper source MostEpic (talk) 17:43, 11 February 2023 (UTC)

editHello, MostEpic. I noticed that your recent edit to List of countries by population in 1600 added a link to an image on an external website or on your computer, or to a file name that does not exist on Wikipedia's server. For technical and policy reasons it is not possible to use images from external sources on Wikipedia. Most images you find on the internet are copyrighted and cannot be used on Wikipedia, or their use is subject to certain restrictions. If the image meets Wikipedia's image use policy, consider uploading it to Wikipedia yourself or request that someone else upload it. See the image tutorial to learn about wiki syntax used for images. Thank you. - Sumanuil. (talk to me) 23:53, 4 March 2023 (UTC)

Wikipedia and copyright
editHello MostEpic! Your additions to John A. Macdonald have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright and plagiarism issues. Here are the key points:
- Limited quotation: You may only copy or translate a small portion of a source. Any direct quotations must be enclosed in double quotation marks (") and properly cited using an inline citation. More information is available on the non-free content page. To learn how to cite a source, see Help:Referencing for beginners.
- Paraphrasing: Beyond limited quotations, you are required to put all information in your own words. Following the source's wording too closely can lead to copyright issues and is not permitted; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when paraphrasing, you must still cite your sources as appropriate.
- Image use guidelines: In most scenarios, only freely licensed or public domain images may be used and these should be uploaded to our sister project, Wikimedia Commons. In some scenarios, non-freely copyrighted content can be used if they meet all ten of our non-free content criteria; Wikipedia:Plain and simple non-free content guide may help with determining a file's eligibility.
- Copyrighted material donation: If you hold the copyright to the content you want to copy, or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license the text for publication here. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Copying and translation within Wikipedia: Wikipedia articles can be copied or translated, however they must have proper attribution in accordance with Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. For translation, see Help:Translation § License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Persistent failure to comply may result in being blocked from editing. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. While you are free to copy the blazon, which is in an extremely precise constructed language that cannot be paraphrased, other text like the symbolism must be rewritten in your own words. Thank you. —Compassionate727 (T·C) 14:09, 7 September 2024 (UTC)
