Port Huron, Michigan link
editDear Mphmi:
Port Huron, Michigan link. I would suggest that you add to the link the phrase "including calendar of events", which looks local and seemed to be quite good. I think the problem is that the particular page you link to is patently commercial, and this crosses the line for some in Wikpedia. You might also want to put in a list of events, and use the link in a line citation (reference) for some of the information. That might resolve this issue. Just a friendly suggestion, FWIW. 7&6=thirteen (talk) 13:49, 11 March 2008 (UTC) Stan
- I'm not threatened by your site. I can't speak for Wiki, of course.
- My only point was that If you link to the calendar page, or the general Port Huron page in your website (which you could use a reference for a particular point in the article -- put it in as a reference, in addition to being an external link), than you are less likely to get somebody's panties in a bunch. As I've seen a lot of this kind of controversy, the basic problem is one of emphasis. If you take them into the back door of your website (not just a page that says 'Port Huron real estate opportunities' or 'Port Huron jobs' -- hypothetically and for example), than you are less likely to generate hostility. If you look at the history section of Gaylord, Michigan you can find a similar brouhaha. What I'm suggesting is that there are 'many ways to skin a cat.' Good luck.
- BTW, when you leave messages, don't forget to sign them using for tildes.
- FYI, you need to put something on your "user page." This will then make your signature blue and not red, so that you will not be advertising your presence in Wikiland as a newbie.
- Finally, the Wiki Michigan project has as one of its goals the improvement of these small town articles. You might take a look at that to get yourself up to speed, as a lot of what you offer ties in to that. Best. 7&6=thirteen (talk) 15:20, 11 March 2008 (UTC) Stan
- Go to Port Huron, Michigan. Then click on Discussion. The link should be indicated at the top of the page. 7&6=thirteen (talk) 17:48, 11 March 2008 (UTC)Stan
