Non-free content use
editHi MrDanTheCreative10Z9. Please be advised that non-free files such as File:Autism Speaks Rebrand.png and File:HalfLife GMan.jpg can only be used in the article namespace per Wikipedia non-free content use criterion #9; this means that such files cannot be displayed on your user page or be used in user boxes as explained both here and here. The files were removed twice before by a bot with this edit and this edit, but you re-added them each time. The bot left an edit summary each time it removed the files, but perhaps you didn't notice them. Anyway, it's OK if you weren't aware of relevant Wikipedia policy on this matter, but please don't re-add the files again. If you want add images to your userpage or use image in infobox, please look for freely licensed or public domain images on Wikimedia Commons and use them instead. If, however, you keep re-adding non-free images to your user page, they will continue to be removed (either by a bot of a human editor). A mistake like this is most likely going to be considered OK the first or second time it happens, but repeating it over and over again may lead an administrator stepping in and taking steps to prevent any further reoccurrence. I'm posting here as a courtesy just to explain why the images were removed; so, if you have any questions about this, feel free to ask them below or at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. -- Marchjuly (talk) 03:22, 11 November 2021 (UTC)
Errors in User:MrDanTheCreative10Z9/MrDansUserboxTestingArea
editHi, MrDan. There are duplicate parm errors in User:MrDanTheCreative10Z9/MrDansUserboxTestingArea. As background, I spend my time fixing duplicate parm errors for pages listed in Category:Pages using duplicate arguments in template calls, and your 'UserboxTestingArea shows up there. It took awhile, but I found the source of the errors -- it's this Userbox:
| width="25%"|{{Userbox | border-c = #999 | border-s = 1 | id-c = red | id-s = 14 | id-fc = black | info-c = #EEE | info-s = 8 | info-fc = black | id = [[File:Stanley Parable Office (36949282541).png|centre|60px]] | info = {{font|text=This user has a great interest in|font=Comic Sans MS|size=13px|color=#424242|bg=y}}{.{font|text={{colored link|#deced7|Page name to link|Alternative text}}|font=Comic Sans MS|size=13px|color=#000000|bg=y}.}{.{font|text=BLANK|font=Comic Sans MS|size=13px|color=#424242|bg=y}.}. | float = left }}
...which is the 7th Userbox in the Game Development Userbox Testing table. The problem is the "{.{" and "}.}" code. When you remove the 4 periods, the errors go away.
I noticed you have that syntax at other places in the page, so I'm wondering whether it was intentional in this Userbox.
Do you want those 4 periods to stay, or can they be removed (which will remove the page from Category:Pages using duplicate arguments in template calls)? Davemck (talk) 17:45, 1 May 2023 (UTC)
- Hey Dave thanks for bringing this to my attention but its alright because for the Userbox testing tables I did intentionally leave any errors as they were because each Userbox I make in those grid spaces are each meant to show each part of whatever was my sort of step by step process in making the Userbox so leaving the {{ like {.{ was intentional [the reason why its {.{ in the first place is because I have an example of using that font syntax which to make it easier for me to copy and paste while editing I have it like that but actually you using that
and
made me realise I could use that instead of putting a full stop in it so thanks for that, I'll make sure to use that when I update the page later] so although up until the final step of making the Userbox where after making sure each value was how it should be then at that point I make sure that all errors I made have been corrected by this point so basically throughout my Userbox making progress are errors all fixed by that point while still leaving any past error in the progress how it is. But thank you again for bringing this to my attention, with this in mind I'll make sure to revise that page after this to ensure if there are any other errors on that page that I need to fix. Well I hope your having a fantastic day although there is one last thing I'd like to ask if you don't mind, if I'm confused about something regarding Wikipedia and I need to get some help in resolving whatever issue I'm facing how do I know if I should go to the Wikipedia:Village pump or the Wikipedia:Teahouse for help? MrDanTheCreative10Z9 (talk) 02:17, 3 May 2023 (UTC)
- OK. I haven't used either Village pump or Teahouse, but looking at them, it seems that the Teahouse might be a place to start. Or maybe Wikipedia:Village pump (technical) for technical issues. Davemck (talk) 19:22, 3 May 2023 (UTC)
