About the SSC membership timeline

About the Sunshine State Conference (SSC) membership timeline, I wanna thank you for trying to modify it a bit. But if you can, could you tell me which modifications you did so I can try to re-modify on the other membership timeline tables of the other conferences (past and present)? jlog3000 (talk) 22:48, 31 March 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the compliment. I have my own template for timelines. The first thing I do is remove all "other conferences" (my rationale is, other conferences a school was or is in is the school's history and has nothing to do with the conference's history) and make the ImageSize width at 800 (so it will fit on a standard 1024 pixel width monitor). PlotArea is at 5, except bottom is at 50. My standard ScaleMajor increment is at 5 so the time Period starts at year one; the end year is year one+5 (until past current year)+2. ScaleMajor start is year two. For TextData use "pos:(0,25) tabs:(400-center)" and "text:^"Conference Membership History"." id:barcolor and id:bg are removed (these codes do nothing); and instead of "ndash" use ("alt"+0150). Also, remove all links and change PlotData textcolor to darkblue (why have links on timelines when they are always directly under the members' table with the same links).

I would like to change colors. It can be difficult to see text on timelines since links on wikipedia are always blue and the color for full members with football is another shade of blue. Feel free to examine timelines I have done on my personal sandbox, in particular the one for the Sun Belt Conference. I can modify the timelines also, starting with NCAA D2. I got an early start on updating NCAA D2 for 2014 changes, although they are not official until July 1, and thought it would be a good opportunity to have standard tables for members and sports sponsored. What are your concerns? I'm guessing that you also follow the Sunshine State Conference, I just haven't gotten there yet. You can see my updated SSC tables here. I did see that you updated the SSC infobox to include ERAU as a member, I have no doubts that they will be accepted by D2. I do appreciate your feedback. Msjraz64 (talk) 20:26, 3 June 2014 (UTC)

Yeah, the SSC will have 11 members by 2014, if approved officially before July 1st. And my concerns with your edit are that you nearly took out the specifications, like how did the South Atlantic Conference became from a football conference to an all-sports conference. I like your addition to the South Atlantic Conference, I just didn't know how to do it without doing a copy/paste. You've been a wiki editor a lot longer than I have and you know how to do things right. Thank you for the help; I was wondering if what I did was good, bad, or ok; any suggestions will be helpful. On another subject, I need help with some clarification. In this paragraph from the news release by the Sunshine State Conference site announcing the addition of Palm Beach Atlantic University to the conference:

PBA currently sponsors 12 varsity sports including baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, women’s cross country, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s soccer, softball, men’s and women’s tennis and volleyball. As part of the provisional agreement, PBA is required to add men’s and women’s lacrosse and men’s and women’s distance track by the 2017-18 season. Currently, the Sailfish compete in men’s and women’s lacrosse at the club level.

What do they mean by "distance track"? My interpretation is cross country and can't mean track & field since the conference does not sponsor that sport. But why would PBAU be required to add a sport, women’s cross country, that they already have? I don't want to make the update with wrong information. Msjraz64 (talk) 18:59, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

No consensus on college conference format changes

While I am explicitly WP:AGF, you have implemented a new design on many college conference membership tables which removes data, citations, and changed long-standing formatting conventions. Further, you are stating this is being done with WP:Consensus in your edit summaries. I strongly disagree with that particular characterization.

PSAC reverts

You've recently undone a large amount of edits with no explanation whatsoever. On that, what other conferences certain schools participate in is entirely irrelevant to another conference altogether, especially in non-NCAA sports. Further, Seton Hill is a former affiliate member. Per the comment above, it appears that your comment of your reversals being inline with other articles is simply inaccurate. The purpose in NCAA collegiate athletic conference navboxes is to navigate specifically to the school's institution page and specifically to the school's main athletics page. Arkansas Tech Proposal to move

I suggest a merge of: Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys, Arkansas Tech Golden Suns, and their appropriate categories to Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys and Golden Suns. It is the standard procedure of college sports articles to have one main athletic article per institution (even in the event of the University of Texas which has separate men's and women's athletic departments.) My plan was to take a break and come back in time for the June/July movement and transition updates but my computer caught a major virus during the first week of June and it took a while to get it healed. I ended up just completely erasing my hard drive and started over. On the merger, my thinking when I created the pages was that they would be quite long so I made them separate. I absolutely support having them merged now since I know more about wiki-editing and can make the merged page not appear so cumbersome. They are in serious need of updates anyway, it's been about three years. Side notes: I am getting ready to work on the D2 pages, all of them need updates, corrections, cleanup, and/or fixes; also to answer the he/she issue you mentioned in earlier conversations with others, I am a Wonder Boy (football letter-winner) and a member of Theta Chi Fraternity so you can call me "he". Okay, I've been extremely busy as well lately too. I wanted to post as a courtesy especially because I figured you would be back, eventually. When it comes to commenting about users I use generalities, so I will keep that in mind. (PS I was GDI when I attended UCO, so I don't know a thing about fraternaties.) Yes, I am an OU fan. But when I heard the news I flipped out. OSU has faced too many tragedies since the plane crash in Colorado to the Budke Crash and now this (OSU is EXTREMELY proud of their homecoming) it is heartbreaking. UCO's homecoming is this week and I am certain the university will do something to honor the victims. After I finally get able to finish some MIAA work, I hope to begin starting on creating a few GAC pages (predominately Oklahoma but that will be months away.)UCO2009bluejay (talk) 04:16, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
