Planetary boundaries

edit

Hi Mudd. I hope you haven't given up on completing your image for planetary boundaries. I think with a little tweaking, it will be an excellent image and just what the article needs. Regards. --Epipelagic (talk) 16:23, 6 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thank you! No, I haven't given up. I wrote the first author of the paper but he hasn't replied yet. Not sure if I should mail my way through the quite long author list downwards. --Mudd1 (talk) 17:15, 6 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Unblock Request

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I am requesting an IP address block exemption, because I'm using the internet through a VPN, which causes me to occasionally run into blocked IPs. It would therefore be helpful to exempt this account from IP blocks.

Decline reason:

IPBE is not given without a good reason for its necessity. The mere desire to use a VPN is not a good reason. Huon (talk) 00:00, 20 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

I have an over 10-year track record of good behavior on both the German and the English Wikipedia with thousands of valuable edits. You're telling me my desire for privacy is not reason enough to allow me to edit pages as this user even when the IP is blocked? What's the rationale here? Are you afraid I'm going to throw away 10 years of work to ... what, exactly? Vandalize Wikipedia under my real name that you can find in my photos? What's the point? Again, I don't get your argument or the scenario you're trying to prevent by upholding the block. There is no easy technical way for me to switch off my VPN just for Wikipedia. I consider using a VPN a basic right in a post-Snowden world. Now, please be so dismissive and frankly disrespectful in your next answer.

Decline reason:

In order for IPBE to be granted policy absolutely requires that two conditions are met. First, it is only granted to trusted users. Second, the editor requesting IPBE must have an exceptional need to use blocked proxies/webhosts/VPN. Although you meet the first criteria, you do not meet the second as your use of VPN is a personal choice as opposed to exceptional need. Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 18:47, 20 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

I've always defended Wikipedia against people who claimed that the site is destroying its own editor base and actively driving people away. Well, you've done a quick job of convincing me that I've been wrong. Farewell. --Mudd1 (talk) 12:10, 22 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
