Sources

edit

In the article on Alice Bertha Moreton, I note that one of your sources was "her daughter Jenny Matthews". Regrettably, this is not acceptable as a source, because of the precedent it sets: we have no proof that "some random editor went out and interviewed some person who was connected to a historic person". I'm sure you actually did interview Ms Matthews, but what about other people who claim to have done interviews? "Did <this person> really say <those things?" "Yes! It's in my notes!" "Can we see them?" "No!"

Understand? DS (talk) 21:30, 20 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Women in Red project

edit

I mentioned your article at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Women in Red#Alice_Bertha_Moreton. If you have not been to that site, you might want to get acquainted. They were established to improve the content of women on Wikipedia, and they can be helpful to you. — Maile (talk) 20:56, 20 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Maile66, what a legend you are... thanks for looking out for amateurs like myself. I will certainly contact Women in Red. I managed to lay my hands on two books today (the who's who in art). I have just edited the article in the back of this, and with such credible sources behind me, I am hoping the article has now (finally) justified its existence... fingers crossed!
