Non-free images in userspace
Hi. I appreciate it is difficult for you to keep track of these, but every time the WP:NFCC#9 violation list is run, it produces non-free items in your userspace. I suggest you keep track of [1] to remove the images that are causing problems. Thanks, Black Kite (t) (c) 23:40, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- I track categories. The current categories to skip are:
- Category:All Wikipedia files with unknown copyright status
- Category:All Wikipedia files with unknown source
- Category:All Wikipedia files with no copyright tag
- Category:All possibly unfree Wikipedia files
- Category:Non-free Wikipedia files with valid backlink
- Category:Uploaded from Commons main page images
- Subcats of Category:Wikipedia files with the same name on Wikimedia Commons
- Subcats of Category:Wikipedia files with a different name on Wikimedia Commons
- If you have more categories that should be ignored, please tell me so I can add them to the query. multichill (talk) 20:41, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
- The problem - and I appreciate that this is almost impossible to work round - is that the bot doesn't pick up badly tagged files. For instance, File:Old Taylor.jpg was tagged as CC-BY-SA but also had a non-free rationale. It is non-free, because it's a derivative work. I've fixed it now. Unfortunately, the mistagging also means that DASHBot won't pick it up either. The other issue is ones that are completely wrongly tagged, and then fixed later by another user (but have already been picked up and placed in your files - example [[]:File:Logo estadio caliente.gif]]. Hence why I suggested it might be a good idea for you to glance at the bot's output in case it picks up non-free items in your userspace. Best, Black Kite (t) (c) 21:37, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

I ran into this question on your user page
"A lot of uploaders already started uploading to Commons instead of uploading to their local Wikipedia's. Are you one of them?"
and want to mention that my experiences trying to load images into Commons have been a spectacular flop. The last 4 or 5 times I have tried to upload I have not been able to do so. This has led me back to loading right at wikipedia. I came here because you (rightly) earmarked a photo of mine as being not-free, and for your trouble you get my rant. Well . . . ....... no one said that life was fair. In any case, I do appreciate the work that you are doing, it just might not come across in this particular posting.
