Fred The Monkey
Mushroom, the cartoon character Fred the Monkey has been gaining a lot of notability recently (Googling it gives you 4,450,000 hits). He has recently made a cartoon in which his wikipedia article featured (http://www.fredthemonkey.com/cartoons/notablemonkey.html). SO I decided to take a look at his article, and discovered that it had been deleted by yourself. This is an outrage. Explain yourself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Reynolds45 (talk • contribs) 07:49, March 22, 2006
- This is my explanation:
- "Fred the Monkey" (the full sentence, not the three words) has 498 Google hits.
- The deletion of Fred the Monkey.com was voted by the community, see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Fred the Monkey.com.
- I deleted Fred the Monkey since it was a redirect to a deleted article (its only content was "#REDIRECT Fred the Monkey.com").

Message for User:Mushroom
I am the wife of User:Danny B. (usurped), as he advised the Wikipedia Welcomer User:Wiki alf and we log in from the same office computer. We don’t contribute all that often and so it came as quite a surprise to Danny to find himself blocked by you and this message on his user page:
- This user is a sock puppet of Ted Wilkes, as established by Wikipedia:Requests for CheckUser/Archive/March 2006#Ted Wilkes (talk • contribs) and related accounts,
Because you provided no explantion for your actions on his talk page, it took me some time to track it down. At the Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard [1] you wrote:
- "See this request for CheckUser: Ted Wilkes, Danny B. (usurped) and Karl Schalike are the same person." Mushroom (Talk) 06:40, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
I note that this statement by you was posted immediately after Danny complained on the Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents [2] about vandalism by Onefortyone which you did nothing about.
However, at Wikipedia:Requests for CheckUser/Archive/March 2006 User:Sam Korn who did the checking said only:
- "Ted Wilkes, Danny B. (usurped) and Karl Schalike appear likely to be the same."
Your action appears to have been based on a message left on your talk page by User:Onefortyone [3], someone on probation who I see has been banned by User:Stifle from editing certain articles for a time as result of his repeated violations of his probation and someone that numerous others have complained about. (User:MrDarcy, User:Arniep, User:Lochdale, User:Func, User:DropDeadGorgias and if I looked a little further, I'm swure I would find plenty more).
Mushroom, I think it is right to assume that a Wikipedia:Administrator has the responsibility for stating facts, not making quick guesses to spin there own version of what User:Sam Korn who did the checking said. Your rush to judgment has forced me to do a lot of searching all over Wikipedia for no reason. I will unblock my husband and place copies of this message on the talk page of each member of the Arbitration Committee.
Just for the record, because my husband has an interest, I am the one who pointed him to the non-encyclopedic material being pushed by User:Onefortyone after I came across a nonsensical contradiction in on of the articles he edited. I also come from a small city with one of the highest number of writers per capita in Canada and where Wikipedia has a high profile and where I know from the local newspaper(s) and business/social associations that there are a number of Wikipedia editors. - Cynthia B. 19:33, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for your good work in blocking this sockpuppet. Fred Bauder 23:00, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
- Both Cynthia B. and DW/JillandJack or Ted Wilkes contributed to the following articles: [4], [5], [6], [7], [8], [9], [10],etc. This suggests that DW alias Ted Wilkes has created many more sockpuppets, as DW did in the past. Onefortyone 23:13, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for voting on my RfA. It passed with a consensus to promote of 45/7/1. Nice work on the Un-licensed images
I see that you have done a lot of work deleting the un-licensed images. Good work. Keep it up. I have a semi-automatic tool (written in Python, using the pywikipedia framework) that I use to clean up the no-source categories. If you want to use it, just ask me... JesseW, the juggling janitor 03:54, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you. I don't know much about Python, but I'd like to see that tool :) Mushroom (Talk) 12:09, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
- I've sent you the code via email. Please ask any questions you have. I can be found on IRC sometimes as JesseW... JesseW, the juggling janitor 02:18, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for the code. Could you send me the modified framework (or tell me what to modify)? I'd like to try it. Another question: it's the first time I run a semi-automated tool like this, do I need a bot authorization? Thanks again.
- P.S. I tried to send you an email but it bounced back: User mailbox exceeds allowed size.

question about a deleted page
Hi, I contributed an article ( Laura (Band) ) which you deleted with a comment along the lines of "does not assert notability" (sorry if I've not reproduced your comment precisely, I can't find it now).
I just wanted to understand the the process by which the article was deleted; I can't see any reference to it under the articles for deletion discussion pages, but that could just be down to my noobishness at using the search tools.
Thanks Acha11 14:59, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, I deleted that article in compliance with CSD A7, a criterion for speedy deletion:
- Unremarkable people or groups. An article about a real person, group of people, band, or club that does not assert the importance or significance of its subject. If the assertion is disputed or controversial, it should be taken to AFD instead.
- Please read also Wikipedia:Notability (music). If you think that the deletion was unfair, you can request an un-deletion at Wikipedia:Deletion review. Mushroom (Talk) 22:46, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
Psychostick
Hello, you deleted an article on Psychostick(band)for it not being notable enough. Psychositck was played in regular rotation on XM radio in 2005. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.243.100.135 (talk • contribs) 00:57, 3 April 2006
- I deleted the article since it didn't assert the notability of the band. Please read WP:BAND, and if you think it's notable enough feel free to recreate the article. Mushroom (Talk) 16:35, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for supporting my RfA. I’m proud to inform you that it passed with 75 support to 1 oppose to 2 neutral. A watered-down version of the proposed policy against censorship is now open for voting. Will you knidly review the policy and make your opinions known? Thank you very much. Loom91 10:30, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you, I have voted. Mushroom (Talk) 16:29, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
- I think many who would take our side against the menace of censorship do not know about this poll. If you have some time to spare, would you mind posting a short message on their talk page (like mine) to let them know of this poll and invite them to voice their opinions? By involving more people, a larger portion of the Wikipedia community can have their say, for or against the policy. Some places you can go for a list of users are Wikipedia_talk:Censorship#Support, Category:Wikipedians_against_censorship and Category:Wikipedians_opposed_to_censorship_of_the_human_body,. Please check that I've not already posted a message with the heading Wikipedia_talk:Censorship in their talk page to avoid double-postings. If you don't have the time, feel free to ignore this request. Thank you.Loom91 09:22, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
I could use some moderation
I need some help and you're one of the few moderators I've ever talked to; I go to an all boy’s Catholic school and my sister school (Padua_Academy) achieved national fame by doing something pretty stupid. This is the most publicity the school has ever gotten, people in other states have heard about this. Two people keep editing the page to make no mention of it. The page is being edited back and forth several times each day, threats are being issued. The situation is spiraling out of control – could you please step in? - Schrandit 07:14, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism
Hi. Very sorry to leave this on your talk page - I don't yet know how to report users for vandalism. Just to say that Judge Howarth appears to be Hamish Ross - blocked for vandalism, and is continuing to vandalise articles, including overwriting the images of Jorge Garcia on that article and elsewhere. Can he be blocked again - it is very disappointing that he doesn't appear to have got the message and is wasting time and causing confusion on prominent articles...Thanks very much for your help - Grazie - Ciao - Hongshi 16:08, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

Jumping the gun.
Good day,
It was recently brought to my attention that you were one of the people involved in the arbitrary deletion of an article I created a few months ago. While it had always bothered me that I did not get a fair shot at defending the article, I was uncertain who to express my concern to about the matter.
At any rate, others have recreated the deleted article, using the exact same content used in the entry you helped give the deep-six. The entry has since survived because others have vouched for its notability.
I say that to say this: please be careful with your privileges. It takes quite a bit of effort to contribute articles to this project; I would appreciate it if you could refrain from deleting entries and be courteous enough to offer the author a chance to defend the article.
Cheers. Folajimi 14:16, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
- I apologize for that, it was a mistake. I became an admin in December, and I hadn't fully understood CSD A7. If you had complained then, I would probably have restored it (or you could have taken it to Wikipedia:Deletion review). Anyway, I can assure you I am very careful now, and I won't make that mistake anymore. Mushroom (Talk) 20:34, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
