Hi there!
editSorry about the stupid pre-fabricate welcome template. It does link to some useful stuff for you to start out with though, so I figured it might help. Don't worry a thing about the page issue. It's good you were up front about admitting mistakes were made and asking for it to be deleted. If it hasn't already been taken care of, it will within minutes, I'm sure. Anyway, I notice by your userpage that you're doing patrolling with Twinkle. That's a swell thing. I mean, recent changes patrolling in general is very helpful to the site, but Twinkle is a really useful tool that makes it much more efficient. You made a good call there. Anyway, if you want to write articles, in my experience, one of the most important concepts to get familiar with (besides the stuff in the welcome template) is notability. Knowing what is and isn't notable will save you a lot of wasted effort on making articles that will get torn to pieces in the blink of an eye. Templates are also your friend, but since you have userboxes on your user page, you obviously already understand how those basically work. If I can answer any questions or help you with anything, let me know! - Vianello (talk) 06:11, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
Hey
editThanx for leaving something here, I was feeling a little disconnected. Uh, I'm glad it looks like I get what I'm doing, but I consider myself a copycat, I just play around and get lucky. Uhm, I am having trouble trying to use Twinkle. I don't know how to use it after I got it on my user page, can u help? THANX MyNameIsJasonBourne (talk) 06:23, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- Copying is the way I learn best, personally, so you aren't alone. Anyway, you need to go to your monobook.js file and add the following line in there somewhere:
importScript('User:AzaToth/twinkle.js');
Then save the page. Then just refresh your browser, bypassing your cache (in Firefox, that's done with ctrl-shift-R, or cmd-shift-R for mac), and you're good to go. It's the line in your monobook.js file that sets you up with Twinkle. Please bear in mind Twinkle only works with Firefox, Camino, Safari, and Opera (the latter requires that you enable Javascript Standard Library under the "Gadgets" tab of your Preferences). You can get basic info on Twinkle at WP:Twinkle, and you should also look at its documentation page if you haven't. The documentation page also has info on how to customize it to your liking. I hope that all works for you! If you have other questions, just bounce them to my talk page. I'm very forgetful, and if you post a question on this one, I probably won't end up seeing it. - Vianello (talk) 06:29, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
Vandals
editHi there - just to let you know that there's no need to put "This is a vandal" on the user pages of indefinitely blocked users like that, since it's best just to revert, block and ignore (see also WP:DNFT). I blocked the user in question and left a notice on his talk page, which is enough. I've added a standard notice to his userpage as well to replace your home-grown version! Let me know if there's anything I can do to help you with work on Wikipedia, including tackling vandalism. Regards, and happy editing. BencherliteTalk 06:37, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Vinicio Gómez
editA tag has been placed on Vinicio Gómez requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. — Palpatine of Naboo 06:35, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
Umm Question
editUmm question...why are you recreating pages which you did not author with speedy deletion tags?¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 06:10, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
- Nevermind! I see you just tagged 'em just a minute or two after an admin just deleted them.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 06:15, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
Inappropriate usage of speedy tags
editHello, I have noticed that you have inappropriately used speedy deletion tags here and here an here. I would strongly suggest given your relative newness to Wikipedia that you refrain from doing any deletion or anti-vandalism work until you get a better feel for how things work on Wikipedia (especially given your comment here. Thanks and best of luck as you learn your way around here.--Finalnight (talk) 06:19, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
- While I am glad to see you are trying to improve, your last speedy notice was just removed (about the highway) and I noticed it didn't have a reason attached to it either. I would recommend you read WP:CSD, WP:DEL, WP:NOT, and WP:N. These will help you get grounded in wikipedia policy (though there is still a lot more to read).--Finalnight (talk) 06:30, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry for not being clearer, New Zealand State Highway 21 was the one. Specifically, you wrote: "references and sources are missing, and what is its importance?" You can't speedy delete an article about a highway just because there is no sources, thats why I recommended reading the csd criteria.--Finalnight (talk) 06:33, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
- What you are looking for is CLEANUP tags.--Finalnight (talk) 06:37, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
- Well, don't leave your signature on article pages. Also, don't write notes or notices regarding speedy templates on article pages.--Finalnight (talk) 06:53, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion tags
editIf you want to leave a message for someone who has had their page tagged for speedy deletion, you should leave the standard warning notices (which can be found at the bottom of the speedy deletion tag) on their talk page rather than leaving comments on the article itself. --Hut 8.5 06:36, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
- Again, please remember to do this. It is pretty rude to tag a page that a user created but not tell him that you tagged it! DMacks (talk) 07:08, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletions
editI see you've been doing lots of speedy deletion work recently, and this isn't the best way for newcomers to get acquainted with Wikipedia and how it works. It's better to work on writing articles on subjects you are interested in to start off with. The links in the welcome notice at the top of this page should get you started. As you may know, the project is inactive, but I just joined. I thought that we should verify that each member is active. If you want to keep being in this wikiproject, please write "#

New deal for page patrollers
editHi MyNameIsJasonBourne,
In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.
Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.
Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
