editHello, and welcome to Wikipedia!
I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy for the following reason: It appears to be a group/promotional account. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here?
I'd appreciate learning your own views, for instance your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.
You have several options freely available to you:
- If you can relieve my concern through discussing it here, I can stop worrying about it.
- If the two of us can't agree here, we can ask for help through Wikipedia's dispute resolution process, such as requesting comments from other Wikipedians. Wikipedia administrators usually abide by agreements reached through this process.
- You can keep your contributions history under a new username. Visit Wikipedia:Changing username and follow the guidelines there.
Thank you. Bstone (talk) 18:06, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
This kind of activity is considered spamming and is forbidden by Wikipedia policies. In addition, the use of a username like yours violates our username policy.
You may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below or emailing the administrator who blocked you.
Your reason should include your response to this issue and a new username you wish to adopt that does not violate our username policy (specifically, understand that accounts are for individuals, not companies or groups, and that your username should reflect this). Usernames that have already been taken are listed here. lifebaka++ 20:01, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Also, if you would like me to create a new account for you, feel free to email me. Dear Lifebaka,
Sorry it took awhile to get back to you ... I am an employee of NCO Group, and was just trying to make some factual updates that add transparency to NCO's subsidiary structure. I chose that particular username not realizing the rules frown on (but do not explicitly prohibit) using a company name. I have not shared the current username with anyone else in my company. It is not a "group" account. Would it be possible for me to change my username (and thereby get "unblocked")?
Thanks

- Dear NCOGroup-jy, you will need to read Wikipedia's instructions on Conflict of Interest. Also, such an account with this name is prohibited. You need to make something more personable. Bstone (talk) 22:18, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Dear Lifebaka,
I have read the Conflict of Interest instructions and acknowledge that edits to an article about a company by an employee of that same company are strongly discouraged (but not explicitly prohibited). I have also read the FAQ for businesses, and note that if a business believes an edit to an article about them is in order, they should suggest it on the Discussions tab, rather than just making the edit. My question is, I tried clicking on "Click here to make a request" in the "Changing username" page, but I appear to be blocked from requesting a change in username. Is that correct? (Am I blocked from requesting a changed username? If yes, could I could unblocked from changing my username?)
Thanks,

- I have notified Lifebaka of this comment. J.delanoygabsadds 17:04, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
- I'm all for it. Unblocking you presently. Do you have a username picked out which you would like to use? It generally helps to have one picked out. Cheers! lifebaka++ 17:16, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Dear Lifebaka,
Thanks for unblocking my ability to request a different username ... I have submitted a request.

Well then, I believe the below is in order!
