Please use ~~~~ to sign your posts on talk pages, as it provides not only the time of the post but also a link to your user page. This makes it easier for people to tell exactly who wrote the post. — Aluvus t/c 20:06, 12 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

reverted your tag, however I agree a real plan of action should be made known and that the tagging is inappropriate with real discussion on the issues of the article as it stands today, not as it did months ago. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 62.31.45.225 (talkcontribs) 09:59, January 17, 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:S 7.png)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:S 7.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. C. S. Lewis citations

edit

Hi, I noticed that you recently added the {{nofootnote}} tag to the C. S. Lewis article. All of the references given in the "References" section are accompanied by in-text citations; the article just uses Harvard references. For instance, if you look in the second paragraph of the intro, you'll see it gives the reference for the Lewis quote in brackets after it: "(Lewis 1952, pp. 6)". Clicking on this takes you to the appropriate part of the references section. It just doesn't use the <ref> tags, which means that you don't get a numbered footnote. Take care, Martin 15:12, 9 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

No problems mate! :) Martin 20:27, 9 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

NOT same articles

edit

Hmmm..Boy Scouts of America and Boy Scouts (Boy Scouts of America) are NOT the same at all. They are two completely different subjects, the first is about the organization and the second about the troop age youths. I relisted. Pls be more careful.Rlevse 22:00, 14 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your GA nomination of Mac OS X

Your image Image:London_night.jpg

edit

I just wanted to confirm the licence that you have selected for this image. You have stated you are the creator of the image. Is this correct? The perspective of the photograph suggests that it was taken from a plane/helicopter since it is far higher up than the tallest buildings in central London - not the sort of image that a casual photographer would have access to take. I just wanted to make sure this licence was accurate. Diliff | (Talk) (Contribs) 14:29, 28 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I second this, and request a higher resolution version if possible, because this, frankly, is stunning. Daniel Smith 21:31, 27 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Vista on the Mac

edit

First I would like to thank you for the information on how to get things working in Vista. I ran into a problem while following the directions. Can't get the drivers to install into the drivers folder I made on the desktop. I go into run and get the cmd up, and the first set of instructions: cd Desktop\drivers ...seems to work. It's the second set of instructions that Vista Ultimate doesn't seem to recognize "Install Macintosh Drivers for Windows XP.exe" I type it just like it is listed on the CD but it doesn't recognize the command, is there something else I need to type? Thanks...markbullard@cox.net —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 203.199.75.58 (talk) 19:02, 6 March 2007 (UTC).Reply

Parallels Workstation

edit

I noticed you have pulled the section which deals with Parallels for the Mac. I would ask you whether the two are software for different platforms, or are completely different programs which happen to have the same name. Reading both articles, it appears they have largely the same functionalities. When suggesting merger, I had in mind other software such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop, which is available on multi-platform yet for which there is only one unified article. Do you not think that a merger would be sensible? Ohconfucius 10:30, 7 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Vista on Mac: Apple DId It

I like your Vista on Mac tutorial. However, there is no longer need for it: Boot Camp 1.2 adds full Vista support! You should post that on your page. - PGSONIC 01:45, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:ParallelsVT.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Kotepho 11:35, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Good work on the table. I'll review it more thoroughly (and most likely pass it) tomorrow evening. MahangaTalk 02:32, 16 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Just a quick note about this table. You originally cited the hard disk capacities in terms of gibibytes (230 bytes). In this case that caused inaccuracy since most hard drive capacities are expressed in decimal gigabytes (109) bytes. Confusing, I know, but just be wary of this issue in the future. There's some information you can read about this units reporting issue at binary prefix and WP:MOSNUM#Binary prefixes. Thanks! -- mattb 18:58, 4 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Mac Pro rating

edit

You recently rated the Mac Pro article as "start class". I cannot find any discussion of this decision, and as I noted on the talk page, it seems significantly better than start. What is the procedure here? Can I just go ahead and rate it up? Maury 17:42, 3 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

GAC backlog elimination drive

edit

This form message is being sent to you either due to your membership with WikiProject Good Articles and/or your inclusion on the Wikipedia:Good article candidates/List of reviewers. A new drive has been started requesting that all members review at least one article (or more, if you wish!) within the next two weeks at GAC to help in removing the large backlog. This message is being sent to all members, and even members who have been recently reviewing articles. There are almost 130 members in this project and about 180 articles that currently need to be reviewed. If each member helps to review just one or two articles, the majority of the backlog will be cleared. Since the potential amount of reviewers may significantly increase, please make sure to add :{{GAReview}} underneath the article you are reviewing to ensure that only one person is reviewing each article. Additionally, the GA criteria may have been modified since your last review, so look over the criteria again to help you to determine if a candidate is GA-worthy. If you have any questions about this drive or the review process, leave a message on the GAC talk page. --Nehrams2020 00:34, 25 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Leopard Finder.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Leopard Finder.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 20:59, 11 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Mac OS

edit

Hi, just came to request you to participate in the image discussion to reach consensus as soon as possible. Lots of new info was made available today and I dont want to prevent its inclusion (btw, I blocked not to endorse a version, but since no party was talking, not doing would have made the article unstable, and both of you were nearing 3RR violation). --soum talk 17:14, 12 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Mac OSX 10.5 images

edit

If you are able to get Apple to freely release an image, great - then the article would be legally acceptable AND very pretty. In the mean time, do not revert to include copyright violations again, particularly without explaining yourself in the edit summary. Neil  13:39, 15 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

With regards to the neptune image - I'm not sure if the situation is different as the program was never released, and never will be (therefore it will always be impossible to locate a free image). I'll look into that. Neil  13:43, 15 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

The heavy sarcasm came without any context, leaving me completely in the dark as to what you're on about.
