Autopatroller
Hi Nabil rais2008, just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled right to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature should have little to no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the patroller right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! FASTILY (TALK) 19:07, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
Reviewer Right Granted
Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. The Helpful One 20:41, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Karachi climate issue
PMD on september 2nd 2009 issued a report about the recent rains in the province which showed that 147.5mm rain occured in karachi during two days that is 30th(65.5mm) and 31st august(80)....(thay have removed that page since its 2010)....During 2007 tropical depression dumped 167.5 mm rain according to dawn news as told by the met office... while 81mm rain occured during the night 21 august till 22 august morning.... so the data from pmd website varies from time to time... the quantity of rain and temperatures i wrote here, are from pmd web and local newspaper that confirm the same quantity..... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 15jan19932010 (talk • contribs) 11:35, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
Karachi climate issue 2
june till sep... 753.2mm rain has occured during monsoon.. but the ref that you show from pmd..only show air port and masoor base data... the timeline for 2010 monsoon that i made had data for north nazimabad, landhi, gulsheen hadeed etc —Preceding unsigned comment added by 15jan19932010 (talk • contribs) 16:52, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
well if you start counting the quantity of rains from 1st june till the end of monsoon independently... you will be surprised how much difference exist between yours and pmd data....pmd told geo and dawn that 53.5mm rain occured in karachi on 11th july but on their website it was 11mm!!! and the ref u always show, does not even show the rain on 11th july... Pmd is also blank about pre monsoon in karachi ....so pmd is not a reliable source.... The pmd didnt say anything about 1960, 1999, onil cyclone on its website.. even now they are blank about it... so then u should start delecting that as well... because your pmd doesn't consider it!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 15jan19932010 (talk • contribs) 17:39, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
And about islamabad ,yeah did a research on that too... more than 1085mm rain has occured but according to your pmd its 588mm... because pmd only gives the data of airport... NOT ALL OF THE CITY...15jan19932010 (talk) 17:45, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
Okay i am trying to make the article look realistic.....do not revert it back... i will give the ref of other data on 12th sun 2010...And its annual monsoon rain not annual rain of karachi... and in 2010 monsoon from june till august 418.5mm rain has occured in karachi according to pmd i have also given ref that is 152 in june, 137 in july and 129 in august... and monsoon is over so no need of "timeline for monsoon of 2010"..plz do not revert it...15jan19932010 (talk) 16:31, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
In the monsoon of 2009 its 349mm..3mm june, 234 in july, 43 in august and 69 in sep... i have given ref..15jan19932010 (talk) 17:00, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
In Metrology always the value of highest rain is written not the lowest...15jan19932010 (talk) 17:09, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
i am adding highest rain whether from ap or m base...in this way 349 in 2009 and 418 in 2010(till august awaiting sep report)...15jan19932010 (talk) 17:23, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
Look in 2010 monsoon till august, 152mm june(m base)+ 137mm july(m base) +129mm August(ap)... remember the highest rainfall anywhere in the city is added... in 2009 monsoon, 3mm june(ap)+ 231mm july(m base)+43mm august(ap)+ 69sep(ap) so in 2009 monsoon its 346...15jan19932010 (talk) 17:37, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
Ah.. in 2010 monsoon till august its 418 according to pmd and if you add 5, 36.5 , 78, 16mm rains of sep then its 553.5mm ............plz reconsider it....thankz15jan19932010 (talk) 06:18, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
Help
{{helpme}} I have given this article List of extreme weather records in Pakistan, for peer review, 4 or 5 days ago. But here, [2] this article's name is not mentioned why is it so ??? And so far no body have responded to this peer review. Is there any procedure to put the article's name there if it is than how can i put this article's name there ?
Nabil rais2008 (talk) 19:32, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
- It looks like you put
{{Peer review|archive=2}}
on the articles talk page, instead of{{subst:PR}}
, I think? I've removed the old one; please follow these instructions to try again;
- Add
{{subst:PR}}
to the top of Talk:List of extreme weather records in Pakistan - Within the notice, click where instructed to open a new peer review discussion page.
- Complete the new page as instructed. Remember to note the kind of comments/contributions you want, and/or the sections of the article you think need reviewing.
- Save the page with the four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your request to sign it. Your peer review will be listed automatically on this page within an hour.
If that does not work, please ask again. Chzz ► 19:42, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

Why are you special? wp:ES#Always provide an edit summary
Don't we all just love Wikipedia? It gives us many free rights:
- the right to open our own account
- the right to edit articles
- the right for other people to come and help us, when we put {{help}} here - like you did just above
- the right to look up anything on a huge encyclopedia
And what does Wikipedia ask, in return for all this? Well, not very much at all:
- Wikipedia asks that we all follow some simple rules, to help everybody.
- One of the these rules is wp:ES#Always provide an edit summary.
- This is not much to ask, and it is not difficult.
- But you seem to find it not just difficult, but impossible?
- Maybe you are a special person? Please could you tell us why you are so special?
... or perhaps you would consider setting a good example, and following the rules, like the rest of us ... Trafford09 (talk) 07:30, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
Thank you
Hi. Thank you for discussing the issue. I used to sometimes forget to supply summaries - it is easy to forget. So, what somebody advised me to do, to avoid accidentally leaving edit summaries blank, was to select "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" on the Editing tab of my user preferences.
I did that, so now I can never forget. I hope this may help you too. Happy editing :)
Best regards, Trafford09 (talk) 10:30, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
- I have a perfect solution for this...
- What you need is a tool...this tool...follow the directions on the page...
- Paste the following script on that page (it has not been created yet):
- importScript('Wikipedia:WikiProject User scripts/Scripts/Force edit summary alternative');
- This tool would force you to write an edit summary whenever you forget to write it...
- Happy editing! Farjad0322 (talk|contribs) 11:42, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Monsoon Pakistan
Monsoon rain of pak comes from june till sep from eastern direction(india)..while for lower sindh its mid june till mid august(but 2010 monsoon was a extended one due to La Nina!!)...the rains that have been lashing upper parts since last week of august is not a monsoon rain but a Western Disturbance(coming from west) that occurs every month in upper pak while only in winter in lower pak..Indeed rains are hitting Up pak but they r not Monsoon rains they r WD..Due to global warming the monsoon is decreasing while WD is increasing its influence over Up pak...While Monsoon is getting stronger in low pak..Floods this year was result of Strong WD interaction with weak to moderate monsoon currents...In short monsoon of 2010 is over in Pakistan....15jan19932010 (talk) 16:50, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

AfD nomination for Major rivers of Pakistan
Hello Nabil rais2008! The article Major rivers of Pakistan was nominated for deletion (AfD) on September 16, 2010. Please participate in the discussion to reach a consensus. Thank you. Farjad0322(talk|sign|contribs) 14:20, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
- If you have to improve the article...Why do not we merge it with 'Geography of Pakistan' (as Wolfview in the discussion) with a new section like 'Rivers' or 'River system' or 'Hydrology' or 'Limnology' or whatever. We can redirect the 'Rivers of/in Pakistan' to that new section. Farjad0322(talk|sign|contribs) 20:19, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah. We can add combined detail about rivers of Pakistan in a new section in Geography of Pakistan. 'Rivers in Pakistan' can be redirected to that page. In any case, article Major rivers of Pakistan should not be here because there is no criteria about which river is important and which is not. We would never make an article about Major airports or major museums or major forests or major animals. There is never a criteria of 'major'. So this article has to go. Farjad0322(talk|sign|contribs) 20:32, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
- I can make the whole article about hydrology in Pakistan if I want to (which I will once I am over with Fishing in Pakistan, Health care in Pakistan and Forestry in Pakistan)...but I would only keep redirect of 'Rivers in Pakistan' but not 'Major rivers in Pakistan'. So let the article of major rivers in Pakistan be deleted. Farjad0322(talk|sign|contribs) 20:48, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
Karachi monsoon
you asked me ref i give u ref... i simply took the daily highest rain reported by dawn as told by pmd in 24 hour then added them with most highest rain that occured in another 24 hours on different days... as i told you eariler the met only shows aiport data and masroor data while a city like karachi who is one of the biggest cities in the world have more than 10 weather station NOT 2... Now u will not believe me still.. so i will tell you about the monsoon we have this year... we had a category 4 hurricane, intense thunderstorms in july and august with almost daily showers, heavy downpur continued till september(something that doesn't happen a lot) this is due to La-nina, happens every 5 to 10 years. i have even given the ref of august 2009 rain when i said 147mm rain occured u didnt believe me and kept on reverting it.... see the ref , pmd says 147mm rain recorded in landhi in 24hours... so the data i give is correct and since i have given the ref its even more accurate....So do not revert it back!!! I made this article and it makes me angry when some puts a wrong data on it.. 15jan19932010 (talk) 09:13, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
I found new links that suggest 152mm (150mm from saturday night till sunday evening while 2mm on sun night) according to pmd in june and on 9th sep instead of 36.6 its 44(according to aaj tv as told by pmd) and on eid (saturday) 36mm(the information is removed from pmd as "weather of sindh and balochistan" page changes at 5pm every day), so now its 744.3mm15jan19932010 (talk) 09:13, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
wrong again!! 152mm rain in June.
Pre-monsoon rain: 5th july 6.8 airport, 6th july 6mm faisal airbase, 7th july 45mm city. Mid circulations: 23rd july 53 N.nazimabad. flooding monsoon: 26th july 20mm landhi, 27th july 94mm masroor, 28th july 25mm Gulshan-i-Hadeed.
Flooding monsoon: 7th august 66mm faisal base, 8th august 70mm city, 9th august 44 University Road. Moisture from arabian sea: 15th august 1.5mm airport, 16th august 3mm faisal base.
Post monsoon; 1st sep 5mm masoor, 9th sep 36.6mm N.Karachi, 10th sep 78mm Landhi, 11th sep 36 University road(as it was a holiday on eid thus no newspaper came and news website did'nt highlight it. But Pmd in its 5pm bulletin said that 36mm rain occured in university road with strong winds). So its 741.9mm 15jan19932010 (talk) 11:08, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
the line that doesn't has anything is to show u that rain did occur on eid saturday 11th 2010..it was 36mm U. road according to pmd 5pm bullet in..15jan19932010 (talk) 11:08, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
Karachi rains 2
Look.. read the date on this pic http://www.dawn.com/wps/wcm/connect/dawn-content-library/dawn/the-newspaper/local/more-rain-forecast-after-scattered-showers-090.....it was 36.6mm rain on thursday 9th september recorded in N karachi.. Now rain that occured on friday http://www.dawn.com/wps/wcm/connect/dawn-content-library/dawn/the-newspaper/local/more-rain-forecast-190 that is 10th september it says 78mm rain in landhi... then comes saturday (eid) 11th september , rain occured intermittently on eid ( http://www.karachidigest.com/articles/news/heavy-rain-lashes-karachi-2/ )36mm rain on University road(as it was a holiday on eid thus no newspaper came and news website did'nt highlight it due to eid and specail flood victim programs . But Pmd in its 5pm bulletin said that 36mm rain occured in university road with strong winds).15jan19932010 (talk) 11:25, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
and rain occured on 1st september but was reported on 2 september..15jan19932010 (talk) 11:25, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
No... u said "On 27 July, Airport received 14 mm."... check the ref again.. its 20mm that was recorded in the landhi... and when you check these news paper note that the date and day they display is of the day the newspaper was issued but the news is actually of the previous day..... Now i dont make these changes own my own, u asked me for ref i gave u the ref, but still you want to write those changes which u think r write.. for instance u said ,"somebody would be insane to say khi receievd 700mm rain this monsoon" but i showed u that this has happened even then u r not satisfied!!! ...... U always say PMD is the most realiable source...if it is, then plz show me any link of 1965 cyclone from pmd website that killed 10,000 people in karachi....15jan19932010 (talk) 13:34, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
I agree with you that PMD is not a good website when compared with IMD... I came to know about 1965 cyclone from IMD.. thats why i follow Dawn newspaper because they give all the quantity of rain that occur in Karachi instead of just masroor base and airport..well, Thankz any way15jan19932010 (talk) 03:30, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
Monsoon withdrawed
IMD is the most senior MD in this region according to them monsoon 2010 has withdrawed from Indian Punjab and Rajasthan...(in order to get monsoon rain in pak punjab AND KP, monsoon rains must hit indian punjab and Raj FIRST....) Indian punjab and Raj are dry and are likely to remain dry. While the IMD says in its bullet-in that Western Disturbance is likely to effect KASHMIR in next 3-4 days.... while our Pmd says monsoon currents to effect A.kashmir, G-B, KP in 3-4 days(this approaching rain will be stronger in KP AND GB Indicating that it is a WD not Monsoon because kp and gb are not a monsoon region).....U will not believe me but PMD is not realiable example the july 18 2009 storm in karachi which they said will be a partly cloudy day with light rain!!!15jan19932010 (talk) 13:42, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
Quetta Cold Wave
Where are the references, Now????15jan19932010 (talk) 14:43, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
That is what i said to you but u kept on deleting mine!!!15jan19932010 (talk) 18:32, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
Even without ref i wrote everything correct and accurate i said 147mm in august and then the ref proved it, i said 400s mm in 2009 and with ref i proved it and then with 2010 rain, i said 700s mm rain and with ref i proved it...so i didnt wrote anything own my own...15jan19932010 (talk) 18:45, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
karachi issue 3
june is a dry month only cyclone cause rain ok....i live in khi i know better about on what day what was the weather than any one living in quetta.... its like u want ref of was, i, of, if...15jan19932010 (talk) 11:04, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Just like phet caused 152mm in june likewise in june 2007 ,it was dry with high tempeatures then from 21st till 26th june 2007 rains occured daily... after 26th it was dry till July... now pmd says its 110mm not me...yemyin brought 69mph winds with it on 23 june....if 699 people die somewhere we call it that about 700 people died... yes u r right that yemyin didnt caused 110mm rain in just 1 day but weeks of rain caused such a huge amount...
Climate of Cities
If you plan to make articles about climate of different cities of Pakistan then plz let me know as i am also making some of them.....and while editing articles about climate of karachi, islambad and gwadar..let me know15jan19932010 (talk) 14:16, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

when u write.... eg 2mm rainfall was recorded as of 21st september...Do not change that date or the month till the next rainfall is reported like when rain occurs on 4th october then change it and write eg 10mm rainfall was recorded as of 4th October because obviously 0mm rain is not occuring everyday....15jan19932010 (talk) 10:47, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
Major rivers of Pakistan
I would like to start tomorrow fresh. The List of national parks of Pakistan and List of medical schools in Pakistan are really tiring me up. You can get along with the merging if you want to but I would only help tomorrow since I am too tired by now. Sweet dreams. I want it to look like List of lakes in Pakistan. Karachi issue 4
i have given the ref for 80mm before in august no need to give the same information again and agai.. even climate of pakistan has less ref then karachi.... u r the only person that wants more & more ref.. so stop this ...what ever i write is correct.. i think the number of ref that i have given in recent days proves that i am always right!!!15jan19932010 (talk) 16:00, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
In lahore and islamabad....since the ref is from pmd's june till september report, i simply added the highest ones(u should also calculate again or give other ref to support that since pmd report about them is what i wrote first)....since pmd gives more weather stations for lahore and islamabad..not for khi..thats why for khi i took dawn news..and for 2001 karachi rain is supported by two links one from 2003's dawn and one from 2001's dawn newspapaer... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 15jan19932010 (talk • contribs) 18:19, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

In the article Climate of Quetta, i want to make the table of "History of severe cold wave in Quetta" sortable. How can i make this table sortable, or if i have to use other sortable table ?
Nabil rais2008 (talk) 19:00, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Nabil. Sortable tables can be a bit of a daunting task, but fortunately there's a large help page for it to discuss all the possibilities. Help:Sorting should be able to get you where you want to go. Alternatively, if you can't get it from this information, if you let me know which columns you want to be sortable I can do it for you. Let me know if you have any specific questions. Regards, Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 19:07, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
- Very sorry, but I'm unable to help at this time with the articles you contacted me about. Good luck with them! Scartol • Tok 20:58, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
Copy edits
Do you want me to do the whole page? I can do it for WP:GOCE i need to add a few more articles anyways ;) If so just leave me a message and tag the article {{grammar}}
ps- the user above seems to have WP:Ownership issues, you may want to warn him because he is not in the right.
- Ive done the copy edit, but some issues are outstanding, see the tags i added (i dont know what was meant in those sentences)
- Feel free to ask my any questions you have on the tag(Lihaas (talk) 21:07, 26 September 2010 (UTC)).
- Yes, monthly seems fine i didnt know if you meant something else, annual or monthly.
- the second part seems to contradict an earlier assertion that it didnt receive any snowfall/it usually snows for the 3 month period, then saying it only snowed twice.(Lihaas (talk) 17:21, 29 September 2010 (UTC)).
Vandalism in "tallest lists"
Thanks for keeping me update in that case. I also leaved a note at his/her discussion page. I hate when some useres permanent add buildings in those lists, although they are proposed. Jerchel (talk) 15:38, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
Again
articles made by me will always be ur target15jan19932010 (talk) 09:29, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
I didnt say i own them... i said made by me (which ull say contributed).....there are million articles on wiki... then u should start putting "copy editing" on them too....only my articles are every day changed by U... eg if i wrote "His name is XYZ", then u will change this into "The name of him is XYZ".. 15jan19932010 (talk) 10:06, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
continental air is term used by pmd AND imd to describe a development of high pressure meaning hot and dry weather over their respective countries. Now for global warming of hyderabad...some one would be stupid enough to say that abnormal weather for last five years is due to something else ... of course its global warming.... for shamal winds yes they do occur in western balochistan... now i do not need your satisfication as wikipedia is a free place to write articles and i do not write something wrong!!! check other articles TOO.15jan19932010 (talk) 14:25, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
Why should i remove something that is basic and happens every year.."My Boss"15jan19932010 (talk) 14:34, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
check november 1st http://www.pakmet.com.pk/Pakistan%20Weather%20outlook/November%202009.html and if i write like that Multan do not change it!!! " MY BOSS"15jan19932010 (talk) 14:41, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

I said "Continental air prevails ALMOST all year round...it doesnt rain every day in monsoon or winter...15jan19932010 (talk) 15:05, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
OMG.....i think that useless explanation was right...15jan19932010 (talk) 15:19, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
i dont think TC yemyin caused rain in quetta...15jan19932010 (talk) 13:32, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
give ref from other websites then... i dont need prove i just want the ref on wiki!!!15jan19932010 (talk) 16:07, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
Enough is enough
I have been observing you and u seem to think of yourself as "WHAT YOU DO IS RIGHT"..and others are stupid, foolish etc... u have given ref for 2009 karachi rain above normal..so what happened...astonishly and astonishingly is same check the dictionary on net(and dont ask ref for that)...try to corporate instead of becoming a master!!!!15jan19932010 (talk) 18:56, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
No need to put citation tags there.. as a reader will click on the respective cyclone and will get the same information...15jan19932010 (talk) 19:01, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
Have u read the ref that i give u ...it clearly states that above-normal rain was observed in karachi and hyderabad...If i have to search for everything everytime then i think the time has come for u to search then15jan19932010 (talk) 19:05, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
AS for the cyclones are considered...look eg its written...Cyclone Yemyin made landfall in Karachi.. so if i want to know about this cyclone i will just click it and the article of Cyclone yemyin will open giving me the information which i need...15jan19932010 (talk) 19:11, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
NO i was putting that ref for quite sometime but u were changing it(i dont know why)...i think u like to have fun by teasing people15jan19932010 (talk) 19:14, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
Even if i give the ref for cyclones...people have to click the ref then...so either way its same... i have wriiten it like that Cyclone Phet some people will click it to know about it.. 15jan19932010 (talk) 19:20, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
There are many other users that come to the articles made by me and change them... but i dont mind that because they dont ask for citations or start making the article of there taste...U on the other end always revert my edits eg(latest ref that i give u was same but u kept on reverting it).. i have edited many articles and many user do not change them but u on the other always change the sentence written by me...so u started this conflict not me..15jan19932010 (talk) 19:27, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
As for multan issue was concerned i didnt write 52 temp by myself... i copied that para from another website..just like u did with climate of dubai...in which it is written that 190mm rain is average for feb...which is totally wrong considering that dubai is a desert and it only receives 20 to 30mm rain and rarely it gets 100mm...But u wont change it...U always say that "face the reality" what does that means... have i ever written something wrong..even without ref i wrote everything right...U always write everything wrong eg u wrote 41mm in august 2009 which was 147mm and the list goes on and on...Instead for changing everything first try to search...and try to corporate instead becoming a principal..15jan19932010 (talk) 04:10, 10 October 2010 (UTC) 15jan19932010 (talk) 04:01, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
Every edit i make... u have problem with it..to end this conflict its better for u and me to stop interfering in anothers work....& leave it for other users to check the article..I hope u will agree 15jan19932010 (talk) 08:28, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
Then there is a way to deal with it politely and by listening to others....15jan19932010 (talk) 08:55, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
List of extreme weather records in Pakistan
As promised I have looked at the lead and the other prose elements in the article. The function of the lead is to briefly summarise the main contents of the article in a general way; it is not appropriate simply to list details which are otherwise found in the tables. I have redrafted the lead (see below), incorporating the various prose areas in the article. It's up to you but I recommend:-
- Remove the sections respectively headed "Record-breaking 2010 summer heat wave", "Record-breaking torrential rainfall of July 2010" and "Heavy rainfalls recorded during the wet spell of July 2010". These sections are repetitive and unnecessary.
- Replace the current lead with the folowing. I have kept your references:-
Extreme weather in Pakistan includes abnormally high temperatures, heavy rainfall and severe flooding. A temperature of 53.5 °C (128.3 °F), recorded in a May 200 heatwave, was the highest reliably recorded temperature for the continent of Asia,[1][2] and the fourth highest recorded in the world. The previous Asian record had been set 91 years earlier: 52.7 °C (126.9 °F) at Sindh in June 1919. During the 2010 heatwave 12 cities in Pakistan experienced temperatures above 50 °C (122 °F),[3][4] and at least 18 people are reported to have died.[5] The highest rainfall to occur in Pakistan,, 620 millimetres (24 in), was recorded in Islamabad during a ten-hour spell on 24 July, 2001. It was the heaviest rainfall in Islamabad in the previous 100 years.[6][7] Although this level has never been approached since, in July 2010 unusually high levels of rainfall occured in several regions of Pakistan, causing widespread flooding, particularly in the regions of Balochistan and Sindh.[8] These floods were reported as the worst for more than 80 years.[9] The Pakistan Meteorological Department reported that a number of other areas areas experienced rainfalls in excess of 200 millimetres (7.9 in) within a single 24-hour period, with a high of 274 millimetres (10.8 in) recorded in Peshawar.[10]
