the pregnancy test picture

edit

Dear user Nabokov,

I apologize in advance -- I'm a first-time user of Wikipedia editor and I am sure I'm violating 20 netiquette rules (I don't understand any of the commands, too clunky for me), but I'm completely legit: I'm a professor of bioengineering at the University of Washington (Seattle), and my name is Albert Folch (hence user name Albertff), albertfolch@gmail.com. I'm writing a book about microfluidics (entitled "Hidden in Plain Sight", to be published by MIT Press) where I would like to feature the nice picture of the pregnancy test that you posted, PositivePregnancyTest.jpg. However, MIT Press told me that the CC BY-SA 3.0 license is not suitable for commercial printing.

Would you mind issuing me a permission to use this image in my book? The image caption would be followed with a credit line where your Wikipedia user name, or your real name, whichever you prefer, could appear, for ex.: "Image courtesy of Wikipedia user Nabokov". If you agree, please state the exact wording that you'd like in the credit line.

I am not sure how to check back if you do give me permission on Wikipedia (on this page? Or do you know how to send notifications? I tried to send you one, to no avail). Ideally, MIT Press would like to see an email (albertfolch@gmail.com).

Thanks in advance,

Albert Folch. Albertff (talk) 21:20, 25 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Nabokov! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Kenneth Leighton that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 02:02, 2 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
