Just a quick note to say that I've just finished deleting all the user/user talk subpages you nominated for speedy deletion. If you need them undeleted, please feel free to ask at the refund counter.  Tom Morris (talk) 09:45, 9 December 2014 (UTC)

Teahouse responses

Hi there. If you're going to participate at the Teahouse please tone down your responses a bit. Throwing around words like "hoax" and "troll" are personal attacks and are not permitted while you should not be threatening anyone with a block. The Teahouse is designed to be a friendly environment for new users and whatever mistakes they may have made, we always assume good faith. Thanks for reading!  Philg88 talk 09:51, 12 December 2014 (UTC)

@Philg88: Oops, I'm sorry. I have always assumed good faith but I don't know what happened just now. I actually saw the reply on the Help desk which angered me and I am really sorry, I will watch my tone next time. Thanks for your reminder. :) DEW. Adrenaline (Nahnah4) 10:11, 12 December 2014 (UTC)
No problem. Thanks for responding in a civilised manner, which is nothing less than I'd expect from a fellow countryman. Cheers,  Philg88 talk 10:14, 12 December 2014 (UTC)
I'm not a countryman, I can see cars passing by and hear motorcycle engines, Philg88. DEW. Adrenaline (Nahnah4) 10:16, 12 December 2014 (UTC)

Unhelpful

Nahnah this edit appears really unhelpful, I suggest you rephrase it to something less confrontational, or you could have just read the discussion. I have been watching it unfold on that page and what I have observed is a single editor who has difference of opinion(lack of understanding) as what a Premier is and how Australian governments are constituted. Other editors have endeavored to explain nobody has been able completely understand what is being asked as that is changing every edit. Yes there have been reverts but thats because consensus hasnt changed only the editor that complained has a differing opinion. Gnangarra 12:42, 15 December 2014 (UTC)

@Gnangarra: I am sorry, however, the message was not meant to be confrontational. I am just asking as I wanted to help Colonial Overlord who asked a question on the Teahouse. I ain't good in understanding politics, so I needed to understand. Thanks, DEW. Adrenaline (Nahnah4) 07:05, 17 December 2014 (UTC)
If you want to help resolve disputes, you need to at a bare minimum read the discussion that's there. This is all the more so when the discussion that's there is about eight paragraphs. If you're - to use your words, not mine - "too lazy" to read a discussion, and you don't understand the topic, perhaps it might be best left for other editors, lest multiple editors wind up seeing your involvement as "really unhelpful". The Drover's Wife (talk) 07:41, 17 December 2014 (UTC)
I don't still see how it is unhelpful as you guys mentioned. Dew Adrenaline (Nahnah4) 02:49, 18 December 2014 (UTC)

Thank you

I appreciate the comments you left on my page. However, I've been mocked, insulted and threatened by multiple people here so, no, I don't find it a "friendly" place. While I understand the reasons behind everything, I continue to believe that the "consensus" on my situation is wrong. So, although I may add a factoid or two to update pages (which I've done in the past), that's the extent of MY future involvement.

To answer your comment about students using this site -- no, it's not because of disputes like this, it's because teachers are well aware of the site's unreliability. For all the editors' protestations to the contrary, wikipedia is full of inaccuracies because, yes, anyone can edit anything. Some of my colleagues have deliberately added incorrect information (which no one has ever ferretted out) just to prove to their students how easy it is to do.

Bohemian Gal (talk) 15:54, 26 December 2014 (UTC)

I understand, as I also have been treated this way when I was still a new editor. To comment on your second point, have you removed the incorrect information? You have to, we're very strict on that. I know that anyone can edit, but if people keep on adding unreliable information, the edits will be reverted and it might even prevent unregistered users (IP addresses) from editing anymore, and they might even get blocked. If you see articles like Taylor Swift, United States and The Interview (2014 film), there is a silver-coloured lock located at the top right-hand corner. That shows that unregistered users CANNOT edit such pages, as these pages are likely to fall victim to vandalism. If you managed to add in incorrect information without getting reverted, there is a high chance that the article you are editing is not really seen by a lot of people. And, refrain from adding incorrect information just to experiment, we are very strict about this. Just use your sandbox, and DO NOT experiment on such things in the future. Tell your colleagues that, and we Wikipedians are very strict about this, so the "anyone can edit" misconception is always in people's mind, and Wikipedia is not always full of inaccuracies. We have sources which are reliable, and your students can use Wikipedia to go to those sources' website, like a search engine.
Can you tell me how you were mocked, insulted and threatened? I would like to know. Whenever you leave a comment on the user you are having a dispute with's talk page, do they remove it without explaining, or completely ignore it? Do they call you "inexperienced" with insulting words like "b**ch" or stuff like that? Do they force you to do something you don't like? These are actually questions we ask when we see a dispute. And, users can be friendly here, like Meaghan, but she has left Wikipedia. To be honest, Cullen328 is a friendly editor, but you misled his explanation and complicated it. If you have received WikiLove, you will figure out how nice this site can be. You have to wait for a while and continue editing, but give up on bring the article Church of the Creator back. Try something new, like uploading images or stuff like that, but image-uploading must also have sources (again). You will get used to it afterwards, and you will find editing addictive one day. That is my opinion, and you might find it different, though. The road to being an undisputed and veteran editor is difficult, with many difficulties to conquer, and many disputes that you will face. Although it is not a guarantee, you might be willing to edit Wikipedia someday.
P.S. If you replied, please use two colons before everything else. Cheers, Nahnah4 (talk | contribs | guestbook) 03:18, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
I have no intention of ever trying to write for this site again, about the church or any other topic. When I do write, it'll be for legitimate websites and print publications where I have respectful readers who are interested in what I have to say.

And just to clarify, I have never posted any inaccurate information here. I spent some time updating one page with verified information from the US Census and local media. The rejected church page is the only other contribution I tried to make. Please don't accuse me of something I didn't do, and never claimed to have done. Also, please don't expect me to tell my colleagues what and what not to do, as their actions are not my responsibility.

Bohemian Gal (talk) 03:52, 27 December 2014 (UTC)

@Bohemian Gal: I wasn't accusing you. You said your colleagues deliberately added incorrect information, I was just trying to say. Anyway, what do you mean by mocked, insulted and threatened? I am trying to help you, I am sorry. Nahnah4 (talk | contribs | guestbook) 03:57, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
Your "colleagues", Bohemian Gal, as you call them, are disruptive trolls who as academics should suffer severe punishment by their employers for deliberately vandalizing a monumental free information resource for all of humanity. Major universities, museums and art galleries worldwide are collaborating to build this encyclopedia, and your "colleagues" act like immature kids out at night with a can of spray paint, trying to tear it down. Shame on them. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 04:07, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
@Cullen328:My colleagues are professional educators who care greatly about our students. Many of them believe that "if it's on the internet, it must be true," so the ease with which incorrect information can be added here clearly demonstrates to our students how unreliable this site can be. I wager that if you were to poll educators, more of them than not would say they discourage their students from using Wikipedia as a resource.

@Nahnah4:Here's what you said:

"If you managed to add in incorrect information without getting reverted, there is a high chance that the article you are editing is not really seen by a lot of people. And, refrain from adding incorrect information just to experiment, we are very strict about this. Just use your sandbox, and DO NOT experiment on such things in the future."

So again, to clarify, I never purposely added any incorrect information on this site. Feel free to check my editing history here to verify that.

Bohemian Gal (talk) 04:30, 27 December 2014 (UTC)

@Bohemian Gal: Not helping anymore. I give up. Now wonder you say Wikipedians are not polite. You caused them to be. Nahnah4 (talk | contribs | guestbook) 04:41, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
Just to name a few examples, Bohemian Gal, Harvard, the University of California at Berkeley, the National Archives and the Smithsonian Institution all collaborate actively with Wikipedia. I will take the judgment of those institutions over that of your unnamed vandal "colleagues". Because of the nature of this project, we discourage students from citing Wikipedia articles. But well-written Wikipedia articles cite reliable sources, which can be exceptionally valuable as actual research sources for students. Advanced students should not cite any encyclopedia including Britannica, which are tertiary sources. Your "colleagues" are exactly like people who tear pages out of public library books, and then complain that the library is going downhill. For shame. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 04:55, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
Yet they call themselves "teachers". Nahnah4 (talk | contribs | guestbook) 05:22, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
Yes, we DO call ourselves teachers, because we are.

Thanks for deleting my comment Nahnah. Anyhoo -- here's what Harvard's own website says about Wikipedia:

http://isites.harvard.edu/icb/icb.do?keyword=k70847&pageid=icb.page346376

That's it -- I'm done.

Bohemian Gal (talk) 05:39, 27 December 2014 (UTC)

Okay fine, goodbye, Bohemian Gal, we don't need such people in Wikipedia. To think you underestimated US students is really an insult dude. Nahnah4 (talk | contribs | guestbook) 05:42, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
