I noticed you reverted this article to a previous one. However, I believe you reverted it to a vandalised version (about myself), as the version before is about an American politician. Could you please correct this? Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Meatball893 (talkcontribs) 01:26, 24 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Parsing of CDA

edit

Neat!

Of course, we can see already that a few editors are using the analysis (or ones like it) to suggest that the proposal is being killed by the big bad admins. (Full disclosure — I'm a big bad admin, and I've voted against the proposal.)

I'm wondering how readily one might generate an alternate analysis of the voters — perhaps the median number of edits, or average age of account? Are the editors who are opposed to the proposal more experienced than those who support it? TenOfAllTrades(talk) 19:49, 24 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

I've added a section comparing the edit counts of the supporters against the opposers. Nakon 20:39, 24 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps instead of just giving the percentages for admins/nonadmins as a total percentage of the vote, you could do it as a percentage of those expressing a preference. Otherwise it is a little misleading, no? 1/1/1 comes out as 33.3 percent support.--Wehwalt (talk) 01:53, 25 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi Nakon - I don't think you should have blocked the IP who posted WP:AN/I#Please block me at once. It sounded to me like a prank where the prankster has now gotten a "friend"'s computer blocked. Comet Tuttle (talk) 19:11, 25 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

stats on voters on CDA

edit

Could you add a detail line to each voter showing # of edits and first edit date? For example:

  1. John Doe, 9365, 2008-4-12

Comma separated would be especially useful. --Hammersoft (talk) 22:05, 25 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

(Thanks for adding the average account edits and average account ages — that was a quick response to my request!) I'm wondering if the averages tend to get skewed (particularly for edit count) by a few outliers. The mean edit count gets shifted up or down by thousands if we have just a few dedicated Hugglers on one side or the other. I'm not sure exactly what crunching tools you have ready access to, but numbers like median (rather than mean) number of edits, and maybe inter-quartile or inter-quintile bounds could be interesting. Per Hammersoft's request, a comma-separated list including the edit counts and account ages would also work — when I've got some free time I could crunch the numbers myself in a spreadsheet. Cheers! Page deleted in "ArmzJoynulmiah" for no reason

I have reasonly added a "rv" sign which wikipedia has told me to revert my article on user's profile. Because of someone called "EIRecordz" who has deleted my page for no reason with vandalism included. So I would love to my page back to the wikipedia article community and let people/members read the articles that I have created. I have to along time creating my article and I would love to have it back into my profile. Please check the user called "EIRecordz" who has joined in the 28th february, 2010 and please banned or suspend that user who has vandalised my article and removed it for no reason, I would like you to restore my article back into the site of wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ArmzJoynulmiah (talkcontribs) 21:20, 28 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Adding model profiles for models to a new site

edit

Hi, I'm adding links from models to profiles on myfdb.com. It's a new site that acts like the IMDB but for fashion. The links I'm adding are to people's profile on these sites so everybody can see their work and credits. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.84.193.152 (talk) 07:16, 6 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Block of User:174.3.110.108‎

edit

Where's the policy that says registered users can operate unapproved bots? Either he's using an unregistered bot, in which case he should be blocked regardless of whether he's an IP or an account, or he's not using a bot.

Clearly he's doing lots of repetitive edits, but four trivial edits a minute is easily doable without a bot. I don't believe this block is appropriate, and I'd like to request that you lift it.

It is possibly appropriate to counsel the user to not make large numbers of changes across multiple articles without seeking approval first, although that's not a blockable offense either, unless it has been demonstrated that the changes are specifically opposed.--Father Goose (talk) 09:59, 6 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Reverted edits, reasoning?

edit

I'm adding links on people and companies that are in the fashion industry that have official profiles with credits on MyFDB.com. The web site there acts exactly like IMDB (of which, links are all over wikipedia and accepted) just for the fashion industry. The fashion model database which is less credited and less comprehensive has their own built in wiki syntax. MyFDB.com also verifies their users and those users (models, photographers etc..) verify their credits and this is all information that is not on any of these wikipedia pages. The site credits fashion workers for their work and attaches those credits to the images. From the external links guidelines:

"Sites that contain neutral and accurate material that is relevant to an encyclopedic understanding of the subject and cannot be integrated into the Wikipedia article due to copyright issues, amount of detail (such as professional athlete statistics, movie or television credits, interview transcripts, or online textbooks), or other reasons."

The links I've added fit very nicely within this description form the External Links guidelines wikipedia editors should abide by. I feel like all the links I've added are appropriate and they're being reverted without a proper evaluation. Can we work on this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.84.193.152 (talk) 19:43, 6 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

I have replied to a similar question at my talk, with a link to WP:ELN#myfdb.com where I hope a discussion will occur. Johnuniq (talk) 00:54, 7 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Another feature for the CDA script?

edit

Hey Nakon, could you possibly add another check to the script you have that's following the CDA proposal? I'd like to be able to see whether a particular voter in the poll has ever been blocked. Not when, or why, or if currently blocked, etc. Just whether they were ever blocked. So, perhaps a field past the service entry date that just said "Blocked" or "Never blocked"? What say you? --Hammersoft (talk) 14:32, 8 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'm looking into adding this data. Nakon 05:00, 10 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Re: Username blocked

edit

Fair enough; you can see why I created it by checking it's contributions. The account was actually created while Wikipedia used UseModWiki in January 2002, then it was abandoned. Therefore it was not registered in the current database, and anyone could have used its username for malicious purposes. I probably should have blocked the name myself, but the account will not make any further edits, and frankly, I've already forgotten the password for it. Graham87 04:40, 11 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Confirmed user right

edit

Hi there. I noticed that you recently removed the "confirmed" user right from User:Swagger44 which I had requested due to a report at WP:FALSEPOS. I just wanted to drop a line pointing out that confirmed is not entirely equivalent to autoconfirmed, and that's why I had made the request. In this particular case, my request was because the user was to be trusted and exempted from a particular filter, and the "confirmed" right would handle that appropriately. In any case, it seems the user has stopped moving pages so he shouldn't be hit by the filter anymore, so it's not a big deal, but I just wanted to drop a line to let you know just in case this happens in the future. Thanks! --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 16:41, 11 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Deletion of Ctrl+alt+del disambiguation page

edit

Nakon, I noticed you recently deleted the disambiguation page for ctrl+alt+del. Unfortunately, this seems to have deleted easy access for any variation on the use other than the standard keyboard. Is there anyway to fix this issue? For example, finding the webcomic ctrl+alt+del page has become impossible. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.194.139.119 (talk) 06:18, 15 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

edit

It wasn't a bad faith nomination. I honestly didn't know that an article on a non-existent part of the brain was supposed to be on an encyclopaedia. Redkite

edit

Hi Nakon,
This is about your deletion of the page "Redkite" about the Australian children's cancer charity last week. I was wondering whether you could please give some advice on how to either rewrite the article into something more suitable for wikipedia or tell me how to meet the criteria of A7. I wrote the page in the same format and style as the other Australian charity pages on Wikipedia, is there something else I need to do to indicate its importance as an encylopedic article? Any advice is much appreciated, many thanks,

Question on an article you deleted earlier...

edit

Why delete the article for the vector program Mayura Draw? I haven't even used it, yet I think it is similar, in ways, to Adobe Illustrator and Inkscape. I just went to the program's main page, and read that it was compatible with Windows 95, 98, 2000, Me, IT, XP and Vista, but it didn't say that it was compatible with Windows 7, which I think it is. But I can't afford a Windows 7 laptop now, because I'm still using my mother's old Windows Me laptop.

Sometimes I get a little carried away. <:D

Nakon, I find it VERY offensive deleting the page that I created. I was typing my explanation and you didn't waste any time. Re-consider.

CROSSWIND is a legit band with discography, record label, merchandise, endorsements, and an international touring act. They have scheduled shows in Slovenia and Greece in July and also a new tour in September. They just released a song in the memory of ronnie james dio through magic circle music which is part of the cd Magic - A Tribute To Ronnie James Dio. They are hard working musicians with a following and have every right to be in Wikipedia.

Please do NOT delete the page again.

Thank you.
