License tagging for Image:Okc skyline.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Okc skyline.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Image sources

edit

Hello Native Boy. Wikipedia image use policy requires that all images list their copyright holder. The copyright holder is usually the photographer or the company that they work for. Could you please revisit the description pages of Image:Okc okla.jpg and Image:Okla city.jpg and add as much information as you know about the images' creation. If they have been published somewhere, online or offline, please add that information as well. Thanks. If you have any questions or need any assistance, please do not hesitate to ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. ×Meegs 09:07, 1 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Violation of image copyrights ... again

Possible unfree images

edit

Earlier today you re-uploaded [2] three images and tagged them as {{GFDL-self}}. Upon closer examination, Image:Aerial okc.jpg is clearly a copyrighted image taken without permission from kc-photos.com. Last month you uploaded and mis-tagged the same images, and they were deleted. Please stop posting copyrighted images on wikipedia! --Kralizec! (talk) 04:21, 5 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've listed all of your November 20 uploads as "possibly unfree" as well. If you would like to comment on the situation or confirm that these images are indeed your own photography, please do so under Kralizec's listing at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images#December 4.
Please do not use the {{GFDL-self}} tag on photographs that are not your own work. Also, be aware that wikipedia policy does not allow us to use unfree copyrighted images (99% of what you'll find on the web) to illustrate standing buildings that are accessible to the public. What we do need is for people to take their own photographs of these buildings and release them under a free license such as the GFDL or Creative Commons Attribution.
Please do not upload any additional images until you have commented on the existing images' origins, and until you have read these pages
If you have any questions whatsoever, please do not hesitate to contact me, Kralizec, or ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. ×Meegs 09:32, 5 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please use edit summaries

Image problems

edit

Native Boy, I am deleting all of the images that you have uploaded using the template {{PD-self}}. This tag is meant to indicate that you are photographer of the original images, something that now seems very unlikely; among other reasons, we have been able to locate six of the photos on various other web sites. Some of the images have been deleted as many three times already, and you have failed to offer any response to the messages that I and others have left on your talk page or to your images' listings on Possibly Unfree Images.

Allow me to be very clear: you must not pass off other people's work as your own. It is unethical and illegal. If you do this again, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia altogether. Contribute your own work. ×Meegs 05:15, 22 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
