Help me!

edit

Please help me with an article I wrote earlier this afternoon. Only about half of it ever appeared on the preview page, but I submitted it anyway. Now it doesn't appear except as a draft. Is there a problem with the system or have I done something wrong?

Ndstead (talk) 17:46, 30 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

It appears there was a broken </ref> tag at the end of a footnote. Thus everything afterwards was considered to be a part of that same footnote, and not displayed properly. Arthur goes shopping fixed that. Now everything should appear as intended. Huon (talk) 20:39, 30 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Robert Drummond Balfour

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Robert Drummond Balfour, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited D. J. Bartholomew, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Oakley (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Tony Claydon

edit

Thank you for your message. I've added s 'citstion needed' reference to Tony Claydon being an OBM. The school archivist should also be able to provide a reliable reference. I don't understand why Wynn Bagnall was deleted as he has obituaries in several US and Canadian newspapers and the article was brilliant. I didn't see that Bagnall had been nominated for deletion until it was too late AlexdeGrey (talk) 08:38, 29 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Well, I thought I may have an uphill task arguing for his retention. As the sculpture itself doesn't have WP entry, it might be difficult to persuade them that the model should have one. It shows how perceptions of notability change over time. In the aftermath of WWI the death of someone like Bagnall would have a lot of resonance; we are told that we shouldn't forget these people, but obviously a lot of them will be.Ndstead (talk) 12:39, 1 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
