Hello, Needlenuts. You have new messages at Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Help desk#Review of Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/OGRE (Death Metal Band).

Thanks for you feedback MrMoustacheMM. I will see if I can get more reliable references then. The two pics you talk about our mine. Is there a way of proving this??

Kind regards Mick

The information you've given in the two file descriptions is enough, I was just concerned because both say they are from the "1994 Dark Filth cover", and often that sort of image is non-free content (for example, most of the time you couldn't take an image from a CD booklet of the band and upload it for a band's article). However, I trust that you own the rights to these images and have legitimately released it under the Creative Commons license, again as shown in the two files' descriptions. So no need to worry there. MrMoustacheMM (talk) 21:12, 28 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Ok that's cool. I was the photographer for that album. So, I can't seem to find any more solid references apart from blogs, forums and heavy metal database sites. Talking to the band they don't know of any either. They are releasing an album in April which will be promoted a lot more than previous releases. If they get reviews on the mags you suggested would that be good enough to get the band submitted? It has been mastered my Alan Douches who I think does a lot of work for Relapse Records (Cannibal Corpse etc). Also, there is a video to be released for one of their tracks which was in part created by Fede Alvarez ("Evil Dead" remake director). Would a link to this help the cause?? Cheers, Mick.

Reviews/articles in current magazines and online sites (such as those mentioned at WP:ALBUM/SOURCES) are definitely a good way to establish the notability of the band. I'd suggest waiting for some to be released (I would assume around the time the album is released, as you mentioned), and then re-submitting the article. A lot of the early history will still need support from reliable sources, although if the band's website has a biography talking about their early days, that could probably be used to support uncontroversial statements (unencyclopedic statements like "The sanity of this band is questionable!" would have to be removed entirely, though, both for being non-neutral and probably a biography of living persons violation). I'll be honest with you, that article is going to need a lot of work, but if you put in the initial effort of finding sources once they become available, I'd be happy to take a look and clean it up once it becomes live. Ok that's as clear as it gets. Thanks for your help. I'll try again later in the year. Just one last question. When I do try again later in the year, should I somehow get in touch with you or just submit it was I did before and it'll make it's way to you?

No problem, I'm glad to help out! I won't personally be involved with approving it as an article, I offered my advice in response to a post on WT:METAL. I'd suggest re-submitting it as normal, and you can drop me a line at User talk:MrMoustacheMM and let me know that you're doing so. If you want, you can drop me a line just before you're ready to re-submit, and I can take a look first and offer some advice/suggestions. No guarantees, but I'll try to do my best to help you get the article going. Good luck! MrMoustacheMM (talk) 15:36, 29 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Ok great thanks.

File permission problem with File:Ogre.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Ogre.jpg, which you've attributed to http://www.redcax.com/ogre. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:39, 17 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
