Hello, I'm 2601:188:0:ABE6:F5DB:7E37:2D22:8FAF. I noticed that you made a change to an article, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. 2601:188:0:ABE6:F5DB:7E37:2D22:8FAF (talk) 19:55, 4 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. 2601:188:0:ABE6:F5DB:7E37:2D22:8FAF (talk) 19:55, 4 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add soapboxing, promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. 2601:188:0:ABE6:F5DB:7E37:2D22:8FAF (talk) 20:04, 4 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • Now, rather than continuing to ratchet up warnings here, I'd suggest you also read WP:3RR; you're edit warring in order to add content that won't stay. What I will do is ask for your account to be blocked if you continue in this vein. Our guidelines are really clear as to what is and is not permissible in an encyclopedic entry. Thank you, 2601:188:0:ABE6:F5DB:7E37:2D22:8FAF (talk) 20:04, 4 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you add unsourced material to Wikipedia, as you did at Paul Tamanian. You keep adding material that is unsourced and promotional. Please stop, and start citing reliable, secondary sources--in a neutral manner. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 01:02, 5 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

User:Drmies they went right back at it. See here. Jytdog (talk) 20:42, 15 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Promotion

edit

Neil, really, Wikipedia isn't a vehicle for promotion. You are either a big fan of Paul Tamanian or you are somehow connected with him (friend, represent him, etc) but the content you are adding is not OK - it violates our content policies and guidelines. Would you please explain your connection with him? I can help you get better oriented here so you won't get into trouble. Best regards Jytdog (talk) 20:47, 15 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

This is so confusing...how do i talk with you???

Thank you for your willingness to help. I hope you get this...Paul Tamanian is a friend. I do NOT intend to promote his work..but unaware of what I am doing wrong. Which specific terms are considered promotional..I have added references..but unsure how to go about publishing content. This content was typed/provided by Paul Tamanian, I am trying to help Paul update his wiki page. Thanks for you help!!! For example he seems questionable for the notability regardless because his works have not been permanently collected by major museums thus there's nothing for that, also the article contains nothing else particularly convincing. At best, additional news may have helped but the key particular part was having the said permanent collections. SwisterTwister talk 17:18, 16 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for writing back Neil. Yes that is exactly how you talk back with us. Congrats on figuring that out :) Talk pages are really essential here. Some notes on what you wrote.
First, I don't mean to be picky (but I do want us all to be on the same page and having the same "head").. the article is not "his". It is a Wikipedia article about Paul Tamanian. That article, like every other article in WP, is governed by WP's content policies and guidelines, not by what the subject of the article wants it to say. That is really important. Your edits have all been reverted because they violate the policies and guidelines. You will be blocked if you keep violating them.
Thanks too for letting us know that the material came from Paul and you working with him. One of our guidelines here has to do with conflicts of interest - it is here: WP:COI. In Wikipedia, working on an article about someone you know, on their behalf, is a conflict of interest. If you read that (WP:COI]]) you can see that what we ask people with a COI to do, is 1) declare their relationship with the subject of the article, which you have now done, and 2) refrain from directly editing the article, and instead offer proposals on its talk page so those proposals can be peer reviewed by people who have no COI. Does that make sense? Thanks again for replying. Jytdog (talk) 19:01, 16 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thanks that is very helpful. If I understand correctly, I need to offer proposals on the Paul Tamanian talk page? Also, regarding images, I need to submit those to the talk page as well? I will read the WP:COI in full. Very much appreciate the help, Neil 2601:4C0:4002:95B0:5C77:6C34:FCD0:F52F (talk) 01:09, 17 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Yes! That is where you can suggest images too. We have to be very careful about copyright with that. Your proposals on the talk page will have a better chance of succeeding, if you make them with an understanding of the content policies and guidelines in Wikipedia. I can provide you a (kind of) brief explanation, if you like.... may I? Jytdog (talk) 03:47, 17 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

That would be great, I am at a loss to figure all this out, You Tube of course makes is sound easy, just edit a page. I had no idea it would cause such an issue. Paul is now concerned about the flagged: "This article is being considered for deletion in accordance with Wikipedia's deletion policy. Please share your thoughts on the matter at this article's entry on the Articles for deletion page. Feel free to edit the article, but the article must not be blanked, and this notice must not be removed, until the discussion is closed. For more information, particularly on merging or moving the article during the discussion, read the guide to deletion." How do I deal with this? As before I appreciate the help! neiljforrest 23:01, 23 June 2016 (UTC) H
