Colombo

edit

I think we are in a edit war due to the reverts done by me and you. Its most likely either one or both of us will be blocked soon if we keep it up. So if your are truly committed to constructive contribution to the article on Colombo, please write the comments or suggestions you have on my edits in the talk page and Id be most happy to answer them. If any refs are needed to what I have written put the tags I will provide the refs, but don't go removing the ones (refs included) I have put there already, just because I didn't get your permission before hand, which I don't need. I am also curious as to know why you are the only one who has a problem with my editing and refs, where as no one in else seems to be reverting any of my edits or even making any comments about it. ThankyouNitraven (talk) 13:40, 24 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the reply, if you looked closely at your reverting you'd find its not just your edits that I changed you reverted, but many other editing I have done including ones I have added refs to. I don't consider my editing as that of "newspaper reporting style" but If you think so please point out the parts that needs attention. Furthermore you speak of my editing as POV, OR I can say the same of yours, I like to remind you that your edits lack refs and are also un-encyclopedic or should I say "newspaper reporting style".

Points for your consideration;

  1. Most schools in the city have some religious alignment, for example some of these schools are known to be Buddhist, Catholic, Hindu or Muslim schools.---- is nt the example a bit childish as what less could religious alignment mean.
  2. The religious alignment does not effect the curricula offered in these schools, except for the demography of the students. --- isnt this something for the article on education in Sri Lanka ?
  3. For example Ananda College is a Buddhist school with majority of the students coming from Sinhala Buddhist families. --- why Ananda College ? and calling majority of the students coming from Sinhala Buddhist families isnt as you said " only shows how divisive the stupid Sri Lankans we are, and as you say the reader can always go to through the schools articles to find out more about it"
  4. Majority of the schools in Sri Lanka are single sexed schools except for some of the international schools that follow a British of American curriculam. ---- How do you say most of the schools ? only the old and prominent schools are single sex schools all most all of the provincial schools are mixed. There is no mention of the private schools of the city they have a rich history associated with the city.
  5. Before asking others to add refs please make an example as you seem to make so often do, add a refs.

cheers Nitraven (talk) 17:25, 25 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Replying here for clarity sake:
Point 1: - I dont want to argue your inability for reasoning.
Point 2: - Yes by all means include it in the education in Sri Lanka article.
Point 3: - I didnt want the reader to understand "Religious Alignment" as some sort of religious school. Thats what the example is for
Point 4: - It is a claim that you added, I merely improved the phrase, because I didn't want to upset u by removing it.
Point 5: - http://vs.aka-online.de/cgi-bin/wppagehiststat.pl goto that site see who has contributed most for the Colombo article, by the way user Mystic is also my account. then decide whether I have added reference or not.

I prefer if we discuss this in the Colombo article talk page thats the purpose of the article talk page. Further comments by you in my talk page in this regard will be removed. NëŧΜǒńğerPeace Talks 19:41, 25 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Velupillai Pirabaharan.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Martin H. (talk) 07:14, 28 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Reviewer

edit

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. -FASTILY (TALK) 03:55, 18 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:013 abdulbaset ra'd.ogg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:013 abdulbaset ra'd.ogg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Image source problem with File:078 abdulbaset naba'.ogg

edit

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:078 abdulbaset naba'.ogg.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 02:07, 3 August 2011 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

File source problem with File:Spencer Plaza 100 years ago.jpg

edit

Thank you for uploading File:Spencer Plaza 100 years ago.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Proposed deletion of Amelioration patterns

edit

The article Amelioration patterns has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable concept, unreferenced

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Dear Netmonger,

Thank you for your contributions to the Wikimedia Projects. As a Sri Lankan editor, you are warmly invited to join the official Wikimedia Community User Group Sri Lanka and to subscribe to its mailing list, Wikimedia-LK.

The user group currently includes volunteers from Wikipedia and other projects, from the English, Sinhala, and Tamil speaking communities. It is the Wikimedia-approved platform for editors from Sri Lanka to enable wider collaboration, for both online and offline projects.

With your support, we hope to organize cross-project content improvement drives as part of online projects, as well as organize in-person edit-a-thons, training sessions, photowalks, and other such activities, in the near future. The ultimate goal(s) of these initiatives is to improve the overall coverage and quality of topics relating to Sri Lanka, as well as encourage new editors to join the Wikimedia community, while simultaneously empowering and retaining our existing team of editors.

There are no mandatory obligations for members who choose join the community, other than the usual editing rules for online projects, and the friendly space policy for in-person projects. You may also (or instead) subscribe to the mailing list, where any member could initiate discussions with volunteers across projects, notify members of events and meetings, stay up to date with competitions, organize your own events, and so on.
