Cao Zhi and Yan Liang
editThe problems with trying to attribute the White Horse poem being about Yan Liang: 1) Yan Liang isn't mentioned anywhere with a white horse. If one is to attribute that poem to be about a miliatry figure or even narrow it down to Guandu, why specifically about Yan Liang? Archery, career of errantry, fighting the Xiongnu and Xianbei, white horse, none of those speak of Yan Liang in particular. 2) Cao Zhi would have been eight or so at the time of Yan Liang's death so I wonder why he would have a personal reason to write about a (by the time he began writing) a dead general? Why, of all the officers of Yuan Shao, someone like Yan Liang would worry him so? Why write in such heroic terms for one who had died fighting against his father might not have been the wisest of ideas. 3) The poem more fits into a general subject of patriotism and expressing his wish to serve in a miliatry sense, something that Cao Zhi wrote about multiple times.
Might I suggest "The Incident at the Gate: Cao Zhi, the Succession, and Literary Fame" by Robert Cutter for a look into the meaning behind some of the poems of Cao Zhi?
If you find the article on Yan Liang unsatisfactory or wish to make the case for it to be deleted, might I suggest using the Yan Liang talk page to discuss what you feel needs to be changed? DongZhuo3kingdoms (talk) 13:14, 8 March 2022 (UTC)
@DongZhuo3kingdoms: It is a simple chinese article which only need to be translated rather than writing from scratch. Fyi, the article was written by an annoymous 18 years ago, which provoked you. Ngancheekean (talk) 14:51, 8 March 2022 (UTC)
- Then feel free to, the article is accurate, translate it. Nobody is saying the article can't be updated, just it needs to be done properly.
- I'm not sure I was provoked? Simply explaining why a poem (which I'm guessing your referring to) that has nothing to do with Yan Liang is not accepted in the Yan Liang entry. DongZhuo3kingdoms (talk) 15:43, 8 March 2022 (UTC)
@DongZhuo3kingdoms: Cao Zhi has every right to comment on Yan Liang regardless what your excuses are. Ngancheekean (talk) 16:32, 8 March 2022 (UTC)
- Of course he did. Might not be wise of him to do but your claiming he was writing about Yan Liang. The first point I raised though is that nothing points to it being about Yan Liang and the third is what it generally seen as being about (and I provided a test that might be helpful) i.e not Yan Liang. So if you want Cao Zhi included in the Yan Liang, your going to have to use the talk pages to convince the other editors that the likes of Cutter are wrong. DongZhuo3kingdoms (talk) 18:10, 8 March 2022 (UTC)
@DongZhuo3kingdoms: You can study however how much you can, if anything happens dont blame the others. Ngancheekean (talk) 16:41, 8 March 2022 (UTC)
- I'm not entirely sure what you mean by that? Not sure why others would be blamed for my studying? DongZhuo3kingdoms (talk) 18:12, 8 March 2022 (UTC)
March 2022
editYour recent editing history at Yan Liang shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

The article Yan Jianyuan has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
The article lacks any dates or time periods. No indication of why they might be notable and what they were protesting.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Gusfriend (talk) 00:14, 12 March 2022 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Ownership of content
editForgive the uninvited observations, I am more of a science researcher than a policy expert, and so I usually avoid policy commentary.
However, within your repeated statements, there is a tell-tail indicator, specifically, the phrase "my page".
That phase prompted me to locate WP:Own. I can certainly sympathize with a sense of ownership of one's work, and I do have a habit of referring to some of my contributions as "my page on 'X'".
To be succinct, the policy states
- "No one, no matter what, has the right to act as though they are the owner of a particular article (or any part of it)."
I have managed to look at your original contribution to Yan Han (Jin Dynasty). All other issues aside, yes, there was clearly a paucity of citation (only one citation, and that in a fine language that unfortunately we poor English editors cannot verify. (Well, I did manage to ascertain that the Chinese source does assert that someone died at "age of 93", and fire was somehow involved with the coffin.))
If Yan Han is truly notable in the context of the English WP, regardless of most honored coverage in the Chinese language WP (please link in talk), then it would not be difficult to find English language citations. It is not my duty to find citations for Yan Han but this one took less than a minute:
- Olivia Milburn (2015). Urbanization in Early and Medieval China Gazetteers for the City of Suzhou. p. 193.
yan han of the Jin dynasty was known for his filial piety and for being
.
All that is being asked of you is the same foundational requirement asked of all editors, that is, to provide sufficient citations all of your contributions. One citation requiring translation is insufficient, I know too well.

About Yan Han (Jin Dynasty)
editHi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Yan Han (Jin Dynasty) a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Talk:Yan Han (Jin Dynasty). This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Continuing problems
editUnfortunately, your editing is so problematic in many ways that it seems that your presence may be doing more harm than good. Part of the problem is that you often don't understand what you are doing, for several reasons, including a limited grasp of English. However, much bigger problems are that you won't listen to other editors who try to explain things that you haven't understood, and that your response to anything you disagree with is aggression and belligerence, rather than a friendly and cooperative attempt to resolve disagreements. I am not going to spend time on listing all of the kinds of problems involved, because you have already had them explained to you, on this page and elsewhere. However, if you continue with disruptive editing of any kind, you are likely to be blocked from editing without further warning. Please take note of the things you have been told by other editors, and adjust your ways of doing things in line with the advice you have been given. - It's an article about Yan Fei created on 11 January 2022, based on Wikipedia:Verifiability. In the English Wikipedia, verifiability means other people using the encyclopedia can check that the information comes from a reliable source. Wikipedia does not publish original research. What counts as a reliable source? The work itself (the article, book). Base articles on reliable, independent, published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy. Source material must have been published, the definition of which for our purposes is "made available to the public in some form". To discuss the reliability of a specific source for a particular statement, consult Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard, which seeks to apply this policy to particular cases. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ngancheekean (talk • contribs)

- You cannot edit the English Wikipedia if we cannot communicate well / talk easily / speak clearly. If we cannot speak clearly and understand each other, we will keep having these issues repeatedly. I am sorry. Adakah anda bercakap Melayu? (Do you speak Malay?) -- TNT (talk • she/her) 10:35, 13 March 2022 (UTC)
- You just changed the language just like that? I have no idea whats happening, maybe i'll get back to you tomorrow. User:Ngancheekean maybe not blocked then. Ngancheekean (talk) 10:53, 13 March 2022 (UTC)
