OECD map
Estonia is now a full member of the OECD. This map should reflect that. Just letting you know in case you feel like updating it. Cheers. Pristino (talk) 02:55, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

national electoral calendar
I see your point about the cook is., but you didnt respond about the american "colony" election from nov 7. I removed them to the local as its not a state by any stretch. are you okay with it?(Lihaas (talk) 17:15, 21 December 2010 (UTC)).
- Our usual standard for inclusion was "if it's got an ISO 3166 code, it's on the list". Why do you want to change that? —Nightstallion 14:15, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
EU listing/ranking
I know that in the past there were multiple discussion about whether the EU should be mentioned (with an — instead of number) in "List of countries by GDP/area/population" and in other similar cases (infoboxes, templates, etc.) that deal with states, territories, etc. The arguments against that I remember were mostly around "EU is not a country/state" and "If we list EU, then we should list AU and other organizations" (referring to continental unions or trade blocs or international organizations in general).
Recently I had some related discussions (point 2 here, here) and also the related issue here about the "total number of entities conducting diplomatic relations/recognition".
Basically here I tried to summarize the arguments in favor of listing it (and setting a criteria for listing other organizations/unions).
I write to you, because I think that this issue should be addressed at some central place - for all lists/rankings, so that we don't have to go over the same discussion separately at each place. Could you arrange such discussion or point me where to raise the issue? Alinor (talk) 10:28, 26 December 2010 (UTC)

Notes 3.3.2.1
Hey Nightstallion. I think your paragraphs around secession etc. may need updating/editing:
"Southern Sudan is allowed to hold a referendum on independence from Sudan in 2011, according to the Comprehensive Peace Treaty signed on 9 January 2005. Simultaneously, status referenda will be held. These include Abyei (North Kurdufan-Northern Sudan with special administrative status or North Bahr el Ghazal-Southern Sudan), South Kurdufan (join Northern Sudan or Southern Sudan) and Blue Nile (join Northern Sudan or Southern Sudan). (cf. Image:Regions of Sudan.png)"

i agree with you completely. the egypt one was unilaterally moved by someone to what tickles his fancy even though most agreed tro revolution but not the proper noun one he chose.

Libyan Revolution Flag
It should be changed to a tricolor with the bands of equal width, and a 3:5 ratio to better reflect the makeshift flags being flown, also nearly every flag hoisted have crudely drawn crescents and stars including the massive one raised in Benghazi —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.31.169.239 (talk) 11:44, 24 February 2011 (UTC)

Zawiyah
It looks like the situation is just like in Fallujah or Vukovar where most of the fighting will be over, but sporadic pockets of resistance will still put up a fight for another few weeks before they are all cleared.EkoGraf (talk) 23:30, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
- I don't think that's the case, actually. From what I've read, the fight is still not over and the democrats still hold the city centre. —Nightstallion 00:26, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
- No, you didn't get what I was saying, I ment was - Yes there is still ongoing fighting but it will probably be over in a day or so but after that there will be clean-up operations house-to-house, and so the battle will probably not compleatly end for a few more weeks. And they're royalists actualy not democrats. :) EkoGraf (talk) 02:52, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, okay.
- I don't think so; not one of the revolutionaries has even mentioned the former king... —Nightstallion 09:15, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
- Actualy they have been waving his picture quite a lot and the flag they are using is the old monarchy flag. :) I personaly think they themselves don't know what kind of government they want if they manage to get rid of Gaddafi, because they are made up of different opposition factions with different political aggendas. EkoGraf (talk) 17:34, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
- The old monarchy flag is used because it isn't Qaddafi's, and the TNC has stated it wants a democratic republic. —Nightstallion 18:51, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

Ras Lanuf
What do you suggest we do? Since it looks like Gaddafi may retake Ras Lanuf in a day or so and there has been fighting there for the last four days, should we create an article named Second battle of Ras Lanuf or should we reopen the old one and say when the rebels took it it was phase one and now, two days later, it's phase two?EkoGraf (talk) 17:10, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
- Reopen it. —Nightstallion 11:40, 11 March 2011 (UTC)
- It's been a week since the discussion started on the renaming of the article, and a majority concenssus is to rename the article to Battle of Ra's Lanuf. Only two editors opposed. Could you move it, because I only nominaly know the procedure for doing that? EkoGraf (talk) 22:55, 12 March 2011 (UTC)

Brega
Could you also move Battle of Brega to First Battle of Brega, since I created Second Battle of Brega today? Unlike Ra's Lanuf where it was only one day between phases these two battles don't warrant to be in the same article since it was 11 days between the two different battles or phases. EkoGraf (talk) 01:17, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

Padania needs an admin
Hi Nightstallion. Since January, User:Enok has made huge changes to the Padania article. Some were good, others were not accepted by other users (at least four: Filippo83, Keith 64, Dans and I, plus one or two IP users). We had a long time appeasing Enok and accepting his advices, as the article's history and the talk testify. For some strange reason he continues to remove the material he doesn't like from the article. Filippo83 and I started to rollback him, but nobody of us wants an edit war. Keith 64 showed up in talk page to urge him to stop. In the last case Enok removed opinion polls and the Padanian flag proposed by Lega Nord. I rollbacked him, but things can't go on like this. The discussion is too long and I don't want you to read it all, but can you show up and calm down Enok? --Checco (talk) 04:41, 19 March 2011 (UTC)

Constituent Assemblies and Conventions
In contrast, I am very strongly against stating it - I think it makes the templates look odd. The reason I have always included them without a note is because in almost every case I know about the Constituent Assembly acted as a parliament once elected. Nevertheless, if they are to be marked, perhaps using an asterix and the |below bar would be a nicer solution? Number 57 20:24, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
- Mh, yes, I could live with that; I, on the contrary, know mostly of Constituent Assemblies and Conventions who did *only* the constitution drafting while the regular parliament existed side-by-side, but I suppose back in the days when new nations were founded it was the way you described it.
- So, marking them with an asterisk? Would you make the necessary changes? —Nightstallion 08:06, 15 April 2011 (UTC)
- No problem - I'll do it in the coming week. Cheers, Number 57 08:13, 15 April 2011 (UTC)

interview request
Hello, My name is Natalia Olaru and I am a final year master student in the Corporate Communication programme at the Aarhus School of Business in Denmark. I am currently working on my final paper on the topic of the motivation of users to create content on collaborative media websites, the focus being Wikipedia. As a sample I chose the English and Danish portals. I would like to invite you for an online interview on the topic of what motivates you, as a user, to participate in editing and creating articles for this platform. Your real identity, and wikipedia account will be kept confidential through the paper. I plan on doing the actual interviews in the period between 6st and the 15th of May via Skype, MSN, Google Talk or Yahoo Messenger. I am, however, open to other channels of communication too. Please let me know if you would like to participate in this interview and the preferred channel. Request for comment
This message is being sent to you because you have previously edited the Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English) page. There is currently a discussion that may result in a significant change to Wikipedia policy. Specifically, a consensus is being sought on if the policies of WP:UCN and WP:EN continues to be working policies for naming biographical articles, or if such policies have been replaced by a new status quo. This discussion is on-going at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (use English), and your comments would be appreciated. Dolovis (talk) 17:01, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

Whats with all these stub election 1-line articles (most of which stay that till the addition of results) we need to expand it on content not the 1 election article. Im willing to help if you are. Know anyone else on wikipedia with broad electoral intersts as us not limited to parts of the world? Anwyays, at the moment im trying to expand the Cypriot legislative election, 2011 (general) article due imminently. we need issues and parties. You post the parties, ill do the issues? I'm not quite sure what you mean? Yes, I'd love to have all of these articles expanded beyond the "will take place on" and the adding of results afterwards, but my time is limited... What do you mean by "srt"? And let's just say I don't agree that Abkhazia&South Ossetia are the same situation as Kosovo. —Nightstallion 12:29, 22 May 2011 (UTC)

Equal primogenture in Great Britain & dominions
Hello Nightstallion! Britain & dominions decided to exchange primogenture rules: [4] CrazyRepublican (talk) 06:58, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
- I know. I still hope some of the more anti-monarchy countries (looking at you, Jamaica) take this opportunity to abolish it. —Nightstallion 09:09, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
- I believe, that ALL dominions will become a Republics: at first Black Dominions (I think, that they will become a Republics during one year after EII death), and than White Dominions (Australia, New Zealand and Canada). I think, that Republican Constitution for Solomon Islands will be adopt not earlier, than 2013. But Jamaica can to proclaim Republic on August, 6th, 2012. CrazyRepublican (talk) 09:32, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, the Solomon Islands will certainly become a republic, the only question is when they finally finish their new constitution. Jamaica also seems like it wanted to do this ages ago, but maybe it'll finally happen soon. Tuvalu and Saint Vincent/Grenadines could try again (referendums only just failed), and Australia only needs a strongly republican PM, then it should be fairly soon. What do you think? Read any other sources?
- Unfortunately I haven’t any information about possibility of constitutional changes toward Republic in current British Dominions (Commonwealth Realms). Taking in mind the promise of current prime minister of Solomon Islands to promote the New Constitution, I think, that he will delay introduction of the New Constitution before the end of his term. Nearest opportunity to persuade in serious intents of republicans in dominions is 50th anniversary of the Jamaican Independence.CrazyRepublican (talk) 07:39, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
- Using a chance I want to ask you: what country from non-dominions monarchies you see the next Republic? (Bahrain, Oman, Swaziland or some other)CrazyRepublican (talk) 07:39, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
- No idea; the best chance is probably a revolution in Swaziland or one of the Arabian dictatorial monarchies. Spain is pretty Republican, actually, so if the current king dies and his unpopular son takes over, who knows … —Nightstallion 08:01, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

Faroese constitutional referendum
Hi Nightstallion! I proposed the article for deletion because it's sitting there without any evidence that the election will happen after it was proposed for 2010. Regards Hekerui (talk) 21:06, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
- We've got other category:cancelled elections, why not make it one of those instead? —Nightstallion 22:16, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
- I hadn't expected such a category to exist. Why would we need a category for cancelled referenda? The cancellation of a referendum negates its notability, don't you think? Hekerui (talk) 22:26, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
- In my opinion, it's still notable if there were concrete plans for it … —Nightstallion 07:58, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
