I searched the archives of the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times, and I did not find any articles from 1992 that mentioned WKGA, but I did find articles from 1991 and 1993 which all stated that it was a Spanish language station at the time. I haven't been able to search north suburban papers, because the library that I use to search suburban papers is closed, but once the lockdown is lifted I will check them to see if they mention WKGA being an ESPN affiliate in 1992 or specify that it was classic country that they switched to in 1994.--Tdl1060 (talk) 06:26, 18 April 2020 (UTC)

editHello. Some of your recent genre changes, such as the one you made to WPJX, have conflicted with our neutral point of view and/or verifiability policies. While we invite all users to contribute constructively to Wikipedia, we urge all editors to provide reliable sources for edits made. When others disagree, we recommend you seek consensus for certain edits by discussing the matter on the article's talk page. Thank you. MiasmaEternalTALK 01:56, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
Hi, this person (2600:8804:8040:fb0:e1f5:8493:1b85:f66a) is not being neutral either. I have provided numerous sources that confirm the format of Rebel Radio WPJX is: Heavy Metal. I have provided the person with numerous articles that confirm the format heard on WPJX is Heavy Metal, as it has been since Rebel Radio was created in 1994. Not one of these articles indicates the station is Active Rock:

- Agreed. Your changes are supported by reliable sources and I disagree with the claim that your changes "conflicted with our neutral point of view and/or verifiability". However, I must caution you that both you and the IP editor have violated the three-revert rule many times over.--Tdl1060 (talk) 02:44, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for your response. Sorry, I was not aware of the rule. Only trying to make the correct listing after 2600:8804:8040:fb0:e1f5:8493:1b85:f66a keeps removing the information.
This person (2600:8804:8040:fb0:e1f5:8493:1b85:f66a) does not understand that Rebel Radio WPJX airs a full time, unique format (Heavy Metal) that is not done on many other radio stations in the USA. There are only a few other examples of radio stations that are similar that I can think of. The other person believes that WPJX is an Active Rock, however anyone that listens to WPJX for 5 minutes will realize that the sound is much different. He/she seems to think that 'Heavy Metal' is not allowed as a category to define the format of any radio station. But that's what it is. Heavy Metal has been around since the late 60's, and Wikipedia has a huge article about the style: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_metal_music
I usually just read articles on Wikipedia, and I do not know how to add links of the sources. Do you know how? Thanks,
Tdl1060, do you know how to force this person (2600:8804:8040:fb0:e1f5:8493:1b85:f66a) to stop making changes to the format of WPJX?
- I've requested page protection. As far as the sources are concerned, references that state that its format is heavy metal are already in the article. Their changes are indeed contrary to those sources.--Tdl1060 (talk) 04:45, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
Great. Many thanks for your assistance.
The references say that WPJX plays a format containing heavy metal and hard rock. The Active Rock article states that Active Rock includes hard rock and heavy metal. The user is simply wanting to use another label for what is a standard industry recognized definition that is absolutely inclusive of what he's concerned about. He also isn't neutral.
Some of the references say only 'Heavy Metal', and some say 'Heavy Metal / Hard Rock', but none of the references say 'Active Rock'. What '2600:8804:8040:fb0:e1f5:8493:1b85:f66a' does not understand is that Heavy Metal is a genre within Active Rock. There is much music heard on Active Rock stations that is never played on WPJX, and vice versa there are many bands heard on Rebel Radio WPJX that Active Rock stations do not play. Rebel Radio was founded in 1994, and previous to that the Founder was a DJ since 1989 at Heavy Metal G-Force 1330 WKTA Evanston, Illinois. That's 10 years before the label 'Active Rock' ever existed.
CHR takes songs from numerous genres which are allowed their own radio format categories on Wikipedia. But he believes that a genre within Active Rock (Heavy Metal) should not be allowed, even though Rebel Radio preceded the label Active Rock by 10 years and Heavy Metal was started in the late 60's.
I've said numerous times that Active Rock includes heavy metal - the radio format that plays heavy metal is Active Rock. The article here on Wikipedia defining active rock agrees, your references agree, and you're still insisting on arguing and edit warring over an industry fact. The only motivation for that has to be your fandom of the radio station itself, which you admit, and is not neutral. No radio station has the same playlist. Not all country stations play the same bands or singers either. Your subjective experience of what WPJX may play or may not play isn't relevant. Neither is WKTA. Also, the Active Rock label certainly existed in the late 80s. You're being a genre purist - this debate isn't about music, it's about a radio station and the accepted and defined labels for broadcast formats as used in the trades, the ratings, and advertising agencies. Wikipedia backs it up. Read the Active Rock article and learn. The Active Rock label began in one trade, the Hard Report, as COR - Contemporary Oriented Rock, to name but one example. Rebel Radio was not "ten years" ahead of Active Rock and to say so is purely promotional, not factual or proven.
And I have said numerous times that there is music on Active Rock that WPJX will never touch. And no, the format that plays Heavy Metal (only a few exist the entire country) is NOT Active Rock. The sound of a pure, Heavy Metal radio station is much different than corporate consulted Active Rock. 2600:8804:8040:fb0:e1f5:8493:1b85:f66a is badly misinformed and not neutral. Once again he lies: the phrase Active Rock was started in the late 90's / early 2000's.
Of course, there's music on ALL formats that individual stations will never touch. You're playing "show me yours I'll show you mine" size games with playlists? LOL.
The phrase Active Rock existed at minimum in the early 90s as anyone in the industry who read the trades would know. Accusing me of lying is bad form. And also inaccurate. Because Active Rock was not suddenly invented in the late 90s.
