Citation templates & {{Cite journal}}

edit

Please consider using citation templates, particularly the {{Cite journal}}, {{Cite book}}, & {{Cite web}} templates. This will help standardize the look & feel of your citations & will align them with other citations editors place. For books I also recommend using the |oclc= parameter, as that will enable readers to access the book in libraries.

An example of a more complete citation would be:

{{cite journal |last1=Jacobson |first1=N.C. |date=August 2016 |title=Current Evolutionary Adaptiveness of Psychiatric Disorders: Fertility Rates, Parent-Child Relationship Quality, and Psychiatric Disorders |journal=Journal of Abnormal Psychology |location=Washington, DC |publisher=American Psychological Association |volume=125 |issue=6 |pages=824-39 |doi=10.1037/abn0000185 |pmc= |pmid=27362490 |ref=harv}}

This would render as:

Jacobson, N.C. (August 2016). "Current Evolutionary Adaptiveness of Psychiatric Disorders: Fertility Rates, Parent-Child Relationship Quality, and Psychiatric Disorders". Journal of Abnormal Psychology. 125 (6). Washington, DC: American Psychological Association: 824–39. doi:10.1037/abn0000185. PMID 27362490. {{cite journal}}: Invalid |ref=harv (help)

WP:REFSPAM

edit

  Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. OhNoitsJamie Talk 00:30, 2 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

WP:SELFCITE, WP:REFSPAM

edit

Your contributions to date seem to be all about adding references to papers by Nicholas C. Jacobson. While we love experts here (see WP:EXPERT) we do not love experts who use their editing privileges to promote their own work, which is a violation of the policy against abusing WP for promotion. This is also considered a form of spam -- see WP:REFSPAM. Please also see WP:SELFCITE and WP:MEDCOI.

We do love experts, and it would wonderful if you would consider contributing more broadly. But please, enough of the refspamming. Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 00:53, 2 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
