Speedy deletion nomination of Vertocamoose

edit

Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages, such as Vertocamoose, to Wikipedia. Doing so is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. • See WP:Wikipedia is not a dictionary#Neologisms: "Articles on neologisms are commonly deleted, as these articles are often created in an attempt to use Wikipedia to increase usage of the term." If this is an experiment in the introduction of a new word to see how easy it is to get search engines to pick it up, one of your findings will be that Wikipedia is very resistant to being used to introduce neologisms. There is a sister project, Wiktionary but they too have fairly demanding inclusion criteria such as "Usage in permanently recorded media, conveying meaning, in at least three independent instances spanning at least a year." Vertocamoose Project?

edit

That is more likely to be an acceptable subject than a the word itself, but if this is a newly-started project I doubt whether it will meet our criterion for inclusion, which is called Wikipedia:Notability and is not a matter of opinion but has to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, Facebook, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones and anything based on press releases. The test is, have people unconnected with the subject found it important and significant enough to write significant comment about? JohnCD (talk) 17:59, 23 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
