Response to Blockage

edit

You asked why I want to create the username "Trocadero Thunder rides again" when I already have the username "Trocadero Thunder." It's because I've forgotten the password to "Trocadero Thunder." No sock puppetry involved. Please make the switch for me if you can because my username "Noah and Wallace Beery" has been blocked because it apparently implies 2 users although it's actually merely a tribute to 2 noted actors who acted in films from 1913 to 1948. I had indicated that in a statement when I set up the username. Noah and Wallace Beery (talk) 16:59, 22 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Noah and Wallace Beery", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it appears to imply shared use. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing this form, or you may simply create a new account for editing.

I see from your userpage that your intent with this username was to pay homage to two famous film actors, but to the uninitiated it may look like a shared account which would violate our username policy.

Hey there!

Thanks for writing an article about Marlene Willis! As I'm sure you know, Wikipedia uses sources to verify its information. Can you provide at least one source for the article? The more the better! If not, the article might be deleted as there's no way to verify the information. Thanks! :) Cait.123 (talk) 20:15, 8 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

You really need to address your username issue. Please review our policy here. You can request a change here. Thank you, - FlightTime (open channel) 16:28, 21 February 2018 (UTC) FlightTime, the instructions are confusing but I will attempt to change my username now, with your help:Reply

<I was blocked because my username, "Noah and Wallace Beery," implied two people, although it actually is a tribute to two brothers who were actors from the 1910s to the 1940s. I'm flummoxed by the arcane instructions but I'd like to move my edits to a new name. Here's my request:

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Based on the above, it seems that you are the same user as User:Trocadero Thunder/User:Trocadero Thunder Returns. Is there a reason you have created another new account? Yunshui  08:26, 22 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia with this username. This is because your username, Noah and Wallace Beery, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below) and continue editing.

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "Email this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.

If you think that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} on your user talk page, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Beeblebrox (talk) 00:39, 22 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Unblocked

edit

You really need to choose a different password (well, I guess you've had to, now). I've unblocked your account so that you can request a change of username; please put in a request at WP:CHU as soon as you can. Yunshui  13:49, 23 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

I give up. I'm throwing up my hands regarding changing my username because I'm flummoxed by the instructions, which seem impossibly arcane, convoluted and confusing. Noah and Wallace Beery (talk) 18:21, 24 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • Copy this code, exactly as it appears on the page here:

{{safesubst:Renameuser
|CURRENT={{subst:REVISIONUSER}}
|NEW=Trocadero Thunder rides again
|REASON=Alt account of [[User:Trocadero Thunder]] due to password loss. Current username can be misconstrued as representing multiple individuals (see user talkpage).

ArbCom 2018 election voter message

edit

Hello, Noah and Wallace Beery. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
