Edit Summaries

edit

Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you. — SpikeToronto 05:09, 28 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

January 2010

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, but at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to List of Tasmanian Football League premierships, did not appear to be constructive and has been automatically reverted by ClueBot.

Dear 'Norchy pies4life' - quite a deal of work has gone into these pages and it would be appreciated if you would stop messing with them by making pointless changes. Regards Forfuxake (talk) 18:48, 20 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Tasman Football Association

edit

Hi Norchy! You may have noticed that I tagged Tasman Football Association with a {{db-g7}} speedy delete template. When the creator of a page blanks the page, it is assumed that he wants it deleted. This is not my assumption, it is built into the speedy deletion criteria where it says: If the sole author blanks a page other than a userspace page or category page, this can be taken as a deletion request. So, I am sorry to have flagged for deletion a page that you still wanted to work on.

In future, you might want to put either the {{Increation}} or {{Newpage}} template at the top of the page to let recent changes patrollers or new page patrollers know that you are not indicating by blanking that you want the page deleted, that you are still working on it. Alternatively, you might want to create the page fully on a subpage in your own user namespace and then have it moved into the article namespace when it’s ready for “publication.”

If you have any questions about this or other Wikipedia matters, please feel free to contact me at my talk page. Thanks and happy editing! — SpikeToronto 03:15, 29 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Signing your posts

edit

You seem to have a bad habit of not signing your posts. Please remember to do so in the future by typing four tildes (on a regular keyboard this key is found to the left of the 1 key on the top main row) or clicking on the grey box to the right of the No Wiki logo (the W with the red circle and slash over it). Thank you. AFL-Cool 00:25, 28 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Principal Venues in Tasmania

edit

There are only three. York Park, North Hobart and Bellerive. No other venue matches the history or current status of these venues, so please to not add any others such as KGV Oval. It's nothing more than Glenorchy's home ground and that's it. AFL-Cool 08:53, 29 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Irrelevant - the SFL is not an elite competition. AFL-Cool 02:26, 5 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

List of defunct Tassie Leagues

edit

Norchy, the effort is nice - but in it's present form the article is in fact mostly a blatant copyright violation under G12. You have to reword everything in your own words instead of using Stoward's. Okay? AFL-Cool 12:27, 13 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Norchy pies4life (talk) 03:00, 14 June 2010 (UTC)Which ones do you think need it. I changed around half of them into my own words. Tell me the ones that are definate copyright violations and I will fix them.Reply

Fingal District Football Association

edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Fingal District Football Association, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.fullpointsfooty.net/fingal_valley.htm.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) Old Scholars template

edit

Just a bit of advice, mate. Don't add nicknames to the club names. It looks ugly and against the spirit of the MOS. Also, the link you put to Richmond went to the AFL club so I had to add "Tasmania" to it to break the link. Footy Freak7 (talk) 04:37, 3 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello, in advance of a possible project in the Hobart area, we're looking to identify and improve a specific range of articles, mainly those associated with locations in the Hobart City Council region. ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
