Are you article-worthy?

edit

To do: Create a draft using WP:YFA. Transfer all of what you have put in your Sandbox to the draft. Also delete all the content on your User page. Later, you can put stuff on your User page, folling WP:UP guidelines. At the draft, create section titles akin to what you see at existing articles about living people. Hyperlinks are not allowed in articles, so remove all those. Verify all factual content with reliable source references (see WP:42). Help:Referencing for beginners explains how to format refs. If you cannot find and put into reference format at least three ref about you, give up. Put Db-author inside double curly brackets {{ }} at the top of the draft and an Administrator will delete the draft. David notMD (talk) 17:40, 9 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Norm Schrein

edit

Hello Norms1107,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Norm Schrein for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Norm Schrein moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Norm Schrein, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Liz Read! Blocked for sockpuppetry

edit
Wikipedia's technical logs indicate that this user account has been or may be used abusively per the evidence presented at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Norms1107. It has been blocked indefinitely from editing to prevent abuse.

Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then appeal your block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|Your reason here ~~~~}}. Note that anything you post in your unblock request will be public, so you may alternatively use the Unblock Ticket Request System to submit an appeal if it contains information that must be private.

Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or by administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting with a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Administrators who undo checkuser blocks without permission from a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee may be summarily desysopped.

Hi - I'm writing regarding this comment you made over at my talk page on Simple Wikipedia. That's a project I don't contribute to, so I'm bringing the discussion back here, where I act as a volunteer administrator, and where I have made the block that you are enquiring about.
If I understand you correctly, you're saying that you created an account for use by somebody else, whom you know, and who is trying to write an article about you. Even if I accept that you are two different people, I'm afraid that the actions you have taken run counter to several of our policies here. First of all, WP:SHAREDACCOUNT prohibits the use of a single account by multiple people. We then have WP:SOCK, which prohibits the use of multiple accounts for improper reasons, which is why I blocked these accounts. Then we have our conflict of interest guidance, which prohibits users from writing about subjects that they are personally connected to without proper disclosure (and I'll throw in WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY as worth reading). Since it is clear that the other user is known to you, the edits from these accounts seem to be at odds with that guidance as well. I recognise that this is a lot of rules, and a newcomer would find it difficult to navigate all of them, but you need to be aware of them. Once you have familiarised yourself with them, you can submit request for unblock by following the guidance at WP:GAB. Best Girth Summit (blether) 10:19, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
I actually do not know the person as she is a student working on this as a project in her high school computer coding class. I would gladly delete the account I created in my name if I kneew how to do it and let her continue on the account she created. I really have no knowledge of all the rules for Wikipedia nor do I intend to post on there as well. Finally we are not working together on the project other than me supplying her material she has asked for. If there is an easy way for me to delete my account please let me know. I will send your answer to her and she can make herself familiar with the rules you mentioned and that way can complete her project. 2600:1700:A620:E08F:64B8:24E7:22CB:AB33 (talk) 12:38, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Accounts cannot be deleted I'm afraid. The student can make an unblock request on her own talk page, and discuss ways forward with an administrator there. Best Girth Summit (blether) 12:52, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Ok, I will pass that information along, but as I remember I tried to make a request on my talk page yesterday but with being blocked (my IP address) it would not even let me do that. Right now I am not logged in. 2600:1700:A620:E08F:64B8:24E7:22CB:AB33 (talk) 13:00, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
If you log in, you will be able to edit your own talk page (but no other pages). Girth Summit (blether) 13:10, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your help. Norms1107 (talk) 13:35, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
So, I just received another notice on teahouse below and now I can not respond on my talk page when logged in. Help. Maybe it is because the poster there has not bothered to read the conversation here.
User:Norms1107 created an unreferenced article about himself (Norm Schrein) that was Speedy Deleted, then went on to create the article again. It was cleaned up by others and moved to Draft:Norm Schrein. There, account User:Sydni62095 restored Norm's version, word-for-word (still unreferenced). Whether either the mysterious high school student or Norm using a second account, both now Indefinitely blocked. My advice: A cursory search found no evidence that Norm meets Wikipedia's criteria for notability. Abandon working on the draft (meh, you are blocked, anyway); in six months it will be deleted as an inactive draft. Don't bother appealing the blocks on the two accounts, as it appears that your only motivation to being a Wikipedia editor was to create an article about yourself. David notMD (talk) 14:27, 30 March 2023 (UTC) Norms1107 (talk) 16:30, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
I don't seem to be getting anywhere with this topic. Who ever David notMD has not kept up on the discussion. Wikipedia certainly is not user friendly and when we try to answer concerns we are blocked even the IP address has been blocked. Any other suggestions other than the uninformed David notMD's actions. We would like to use the single account since we can not delete the one and be able to answer his questions. We can not even add the notability requirements of which we have many. Norms1107 (talk) 16:34, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Finally, one last thought. It is kind of silly to block an IP address when there are literally hundreds of places I can go to connect to get on-line with a different ip address each time. I don't think that would stop anyone trying to get around your rules, etc. It is making it difficult for someone who is legitimately tryig to use Wikepedia. Norms1107 (talk) 16:46, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
IP addresses recently used by an account are automatically blocked when an account is blocked. When they switch to a new IP, when it becomes clear that it is not the same person, we tend to block that IP too, or indeed their entire range if necessary. At present, you are blocked, and that block applies to you the person, not just to your account: you are not permitted to edit any article or project page here, except for this talk page - and you should only really be editing this page in order to request an unblock.
Are you 'legitimately using' Wikipedia? If your intention is to publish and article about yourself, then no, you are not. I don't know about Sydni62095, but it's hard to believe that you genuinely don't know her, since both accounts were editing from the same computer until a couple of days ago. But, as I said, you are welcome to request an unblock and another administrator will consider the situation. Girth Summit (blether) 16:53, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Syndi62095 probably did use the same computer on both accounts. The first one that I made for her to use and then she made the second one since my account seemedd to have issues with Wikipedia. I guess I am asking how do I go about requesting the unblock and since my computer skills are not espeically good it might be better for her to request the unblock for her account. Whatever information you give me on this point I will send to her instructior and see if they can resolve the issue. Norms1107 (talk) 18:23, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Finally no I am not publishing an article about myself she is however. Norms1107 (talk) 18:25, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
