Hello Norty Norty why are you deleting the contents of Purushottam Institute of Engineering and Technology
As u mentioned that it's copyrighted but buddy please don't delete the contents this is my college page in wikipedia.Swarup Suman 12:22, 4 April 2011 (UTC)user:swarupbose10

Proposed deletion of several proposed dams in the Mekong Basin
Hi NortyNort
Many thanks for your post on our talk page, and your very useful comments and suggestions. Very much appreciated by a bunch of Wikipedia novices.
Your suggestion to delete Wikipedia pages on planned Mekong dams are well noted. We submit two responses:
The first is that Wikipedia appears not be be averse to pages on planned dams, as suggested by the page on 'Proposed Dams', listing 49 proposed dams around the world, including a weir, each of which has its own page. Many of these pages are pretty slim on information. This might not be an argument adequate for us to maintain pages on planned dams in the Mekong if it is your (i.e., the Wikipedia community) intention to delete these pages too. If this is not your intention, however, I think we have a strong case for maintaining them.
The second relates to your arguments on the Gilgel Gibe III Dam and others, that are planned. You justify the presence of these pages because (a) independent discussion of the subject; and (b) the planned dam has inspired controversy. As regards Mekong dams and independent commentary, and to take the BBC as one example, see the following links:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/8603112.stm http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-11606125 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-10786189 http://news.bbc.co.uk/today/hi/today/newsid_8600000/8600543.stm
From the CNN, we can refer you to:
http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2010/07/27/group-dams-would-doom-mekong-rivers-giant-catfish/?iref=allsearch http://edition.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/asiapcf/06/17/cambodia.dolphins/index.html?iref=allsearch
In the region, the proposed dams debate receives considerable airtime in the likes of the Bangkok Post, VOV News (Vietnam), the Saigon, the Nation (Thailand).
The proposed dams debate is immense in the Mekong. Not just in the press. It has inspired a stand-alone program from theCGIAR Challenge Program on Water and Food-Mekong, theWWF Greater Mekong Programme, andStimson Institute Mekong Policy Project,International Rivers has a stand alone campaign, as does the IUCN(IUCN Mekong Dialogues). Of late, the planned Xayaburi Dam on the Mekong mainstream in Laos has brought the spotlight onto the Mekong River Commission and galvanized tremendous debate, NGOs, the press and other entities.
So, these planned dams, cumulatively, represent a huge debate. True, individual pages might not be the best way to inform this debate, but it is compelling, especially in Wikipedia, where actors beyond ourselves can upload contributory material, expand the pages we have developed, and edit away.
We do not see the Mekong River Commission page as an appropriate 'home' for this material. This page is about a (relatively weak) basin organisation with few regulatory powers. We have created a page on Mekong River Basin Hydropower, which might be a better place; or to do as you suggest, and create a page outside of Wikipedia, leaving behind our pages on existing dams and those under construction.
As always, your comment and input are appreciated and valued.
Best wishes Rechmaduong (talk) 05:25, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, Wikipedia does not a specific policy on proposed dams but does have a general notability guideline. Much of what I originally discussed on your talk page is in that guideline. Category:Proposed dams which I rarely, if ever have, looked at definitely has a bunch of questionably notable projects in there. I will overlook it this weekend and appreciate you pointing that out. Others in there, such as the TaSang Dam and Grand Inga Dam are notable proposed dams.
- I agree that the Mekong basin is a big controversy for nations, environmentalists and those effected. No doubt. I don't disagree with the article Mekong River Basin Hydropower (which I edited a few times and didn't know was part of your project until now). I don't disagree with each and every proposed dam being listed in that article. I looked at those CNN and BBC articles and they are about China's existing dams or proposed dams in general in the river basin. That justifies the notability of an article listing all of the dams but not necessarily each one individually. This article is an excellent example of an independent and reliable secondary source for a notable proposed dam. Orthis and maybe eventhis.
- There are plenty of planned dams 'on the radar' of NGOs, locals and other various groups who have vested interest in them. If Wikipedia had an article for each one, there would be notability issues. Some dams go up, some don't and some are delayed for decades. Some like Rampart Dam never went up but have their own article on Wikipedia because of how epic the debate was. Another issue with proposed dams is the possibility of them becoming coatracks and point of view problems. With that, there isn't much technical or historical information about the dam but the article is just loaded with everything wrong about it, instead of having due and undue weight. Often, people get interested in a dam and make an article on it because of the controversy, and unfortunately, some do it without a neutral point of view. I see this often with dam articles but I have to say that some dam projects have such negative effects, it is hard to balance viewpoints.
- I don't want you to think I am Wikipedia or perfect, because I am not. I just believe, based off of Wikipedia policy, is that several of the proposed dams aren't notable enough for stand-alone articles. If the community has to decide then it has to decide. I want to help you out with your project, not just because I know hard it can be when first editing but I am interested in the subject. I was just working on dams in China and started about three articles on Mekong dams in China. Also, when youuse "we" in your response, who are you referring to?--NortyNort (Holla) 09:33, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, NortyNort, for your response and excellent insight. I think what we'll do is load all the information on to the Mekong River Basin Hydropower page, and see how that looks. We accept your reasoning, and fully support the commendation that you have received below. Once we have done this, we would appreciate your assistance to delete the pages.
'We' are a project, based in the Mekong, which implements research on hydropower, how it is constructed, coordinated and governed. Using the lessons we learn, we work through partnerships to try and influence the hydropower development initiatives of the Mekong countries in ways that will help to mitigate their negative social and environmental impacts. Several of our project members contribute to this initiative on Wikipedia through the Rechmaduong user name.
Once again, many thanks for your much appreciated help.

- Ok, I have no problem helping out. Out of the dams I proposed for deletion, two I now think are notable. I did a lot of extra research into them. That is the Sambor Dam and the Stung Treng Hydropower Dam. Some articleshere, here andhere. I will help fix them up here soon.
- Good luck editing here and I look forward to the development of the articles. Being a group, if it applies, and also with editing on Wikipedia please remember what Wikipedia is and what Wikipedia is not.--NortyNort (Holla) 07:47, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

I spend a fair amount of my time reviewing articles that have been nominated for deletion, and all too often see new editors being driven away by nominations that simply tell them that their articles are unwanted. If all deletion nominators made the effort to encourage new editors in the way that you have done at User talk:Rechmaduong#Proposed deletion of several proposed dams in the Mekong Basin and in the section immediately above this then Wikipedia would be a much more welcoming place. Article: 17 August 2010 Baghdad bombings
Yes I did try asking one of the WikiProjects listed on the articles' talkpage just a few minutes ago, because I've totally forgot about this article. Unfortunately silly old me "Peer Review" isn't a place for any feedback on the article to assess it even though it's in that WikiProject. No problems with you, thanks for trying to help. I do appreciate it. ThanksAdamdaley (talk) 07:17, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
- No problem, glad I could help! Don't worry about the PR, mistakes happen. The classification between stub and start varies from one Project or topic to another. In general 3000k + size is a 'start' along with maybe a section header or too. If you make a classification mistake there, don't sweat it. Opinions on its classification gets more important and even necessary with B, A, GA and FA classes.--NortyNort (Holla) 07:28, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
Dams in Iran
Hi, NortyNort. Concerning the proposed deletion of some articles about dams in Iran, it seems that at least one of them, theAras Watershed Dam actually may be notable. However, there are some other concerns which need a clarification. Please see the discussion at the article's talk page. Your thoughts are appreciated. Beagel (talk) 11:20, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

DYK for Aras Dam
On 7 February 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Aras Dam, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that adam was built on the Aras River in the 1960s, and inaugurated in 1971, with twohydroelectric power generators in Iran and two in Azerbaijan? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

I am sure that the surface water level of Aras Dam less than 7,775 m (25,509 ft) meters above sea level. Decimal place in the wrong spot? See the discussion page. Cheers. Billingd (talk) 10:32, 7 February 2011 (UTC).

More Hoover
I was back at Hoover Dam the other day ... I was so rushed in October there were things I wanted to see (a close look at the spillway entrances for example) that I didn't get to. Anyway, I both drove across the dam and also drove across the bypass both ways. There is a parking lot on the Nevada side from which you can walk up to the bridge and walk across it (barely) on the upstream side, side towards the dam. The Jersey barriers on the bridge are quite high, they do not want rubbernecking drivers. You can drive across the dam and use one of the parking lots on the Arizona side, but just beyond the souvenir shop and lookout, the road closes. Security used to be close to the Hacienda Hotel, they have moved closer so that truck traffic can use the bypass without needing to stop. If you ask me, they should build more parking on the Nevada side and close the roadway, so you could walk across the roadway in peace.--Wehwalt (talk) 02:44, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- Wow, you get out there often. I guess you didn't get any good photos from the bypass. When I was out there in 08' I parked in the lot on the Arizona side and I remember what a pain it was to get to the dam. My brother lives in North Las Vegas and I get out there often. I definitely want to visit the dam again and do the thorough tour.--NortyNort (Holla) 15:34, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- The parking lot was crowded and I didn't feel like walking across. I do have some images (mostly having to do with the level of Lake Mead) I need to take off my iPhone, I did not bring a good camera with me. The intake towers are very high out of the water. I was in LA and I had two days to kill so I went to Las Vegas and over to the dam. No plans to return anytime soon.--Wehwalt (talk) 15:44, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

Infobox stausee
Hi. Template:Infobox stausee redirects to Wikipedia:WikiProject Dams/Infobox stausee which is a template I copied from German Wikipedia and then modified so it translates all the fieldnames and some of the standard data. The template experts didn't like it because of the existence of the English dam template, but recognised its utility to translating articles from German Wikipedia so they moved it to the aforementioned project page. It could be further modified just to call up Template:Infobox dam parameter by parameter, but that is a lot of work. Also I quite like the German Wiki format! --Bermicourt(talk) 09:10, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
My main area of work is translation; that is where I believe where Wikipedia can benefit most from my input. The difficulty I have with your proposal is that it means I would have to spend significant time copying data from one infobox format to another in repetitive fashion, when I could be focussing on translating articles. This seems especially pointless, when I created infobox stausee to display the data automatically in English. If this ability is removed, I can still import and translate articles but I will delete the infoboxes as I do not have time for repetitive work that should be done by a template. Wikipedia will be the poorer as a result. --Bermicourt (talk) 13:40, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
There is a way round this that would both help translators and provide consistency and that is to turn Infobox Stausee into a sort of shim that points to Infobox Dam. This has been done for {{Infobox Burg}} which points to {{Infobox military structure}}. --Bermicourt (talk) 12:03, 3 March 2011 (UTC)

Dams in Isan
Hi. If ever you need any info on dams in the Meekog basin in Isan, don't hesitate to ask. I don't know all the answers, but I live in the area and I can try to find out. Kudpung (talk) 23:01, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
"Sweden was defeated"
Just a quick point bru: I know this is the correct usage in American English, but in both British and SA English sports teams use a collective plural ("England were defeated"; "Australia were a man short"). To somebody used to this, "Sweden was defeated" makes it sound as if literally the whole country of Sweden was playing in the match and was defeated. Just thought I'd let you know. A way around this which I have used is to change it to "the Swedish team was defeated", which is the same in both Am-en, Br-en and SA-en. – Cliftonianthe orangey bit 15:39, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

New dam in Syria
Hi NortyNort, I was thinking about creating an article on this damand to try and squeeze a DYK out of it together with some articles on the archaeological sites that are threatened. Problem is, there seems to be no official name for the dam yet. I was thinking about Halabiye Dam. Any suggestions on this? --Zoeperkoe (talk) 15:38, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
EDIT: see here for the article that I can write about this dam. --Zoeperkoe (talk) 18:06, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
- I think the name you have is good, you might want to add "Halabiye Dam, or the Zalabiye Dam" just to be clear. The dam is in it's infancy and Syria is probably keeping much of the plans to themselves, especially with Iraq downstream. I will watch the article, as it is proposed, someone might try to AfD it. It was born out of the latest drought and its notable because of the archeological sites, the river it is on and the controversy it is sure to brew with Iraq.--NortyNort (Holla) 01:52, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks, that makes sense, although, given the names of the other Syrian dams, it will likely end up with a more "heroic" name). I just finished the x5 expansion of Zalabiye and I'll try to expand Halabiye this weekend as well for a triple nom. --Zoeperkoe (talk) 03:35, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
- I was thinking the same about the future name of the dam. Nice article, I really have an interest in what you work on and enjoy reading the articles. I think the history of the Levant and Middle East in general is one of the more interesting in the world.--NortyNort (Holla) 03:08, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks. I actually got into dams because of their impact on Near Eastern archaeology (which is my main interest and expertise) and found them more interesting than I thought. Unfortunately, the Halabiye expansion is taking more time than I thought, I need to dig up some obscure literature. :( --Zoeperkoe (talk) 17:36, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
- Well, hopefully the Halabiye article ends up being the best out there on the subject. Dams are interesting. When built and designed correctly, they provide a lot of benefits. Hydraulic engineering is probably the best part.--NortyNort (Holla) 08:01, 25 March 2011 (UTC)

Hi NortyNort, sorry for the delay in replying. The draft template looks good. Not sure we've captured all the German parameters and there may be some switch data worth adding in. I haven't got time to look at it right now, but will have a closer look over the weekend if I can. I wonder if this approach could eventually become a translation guideline to save debates about each infobox. Cheers. --Bermicourt (talk) 21:53, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
Okay I don't think I can add any more parameters to the existing infobox, but I have added some switch data (for the "type" of dam) and that seems to work. This leaves two issues to think about: what do we do about the coordinates (always a headache because de.wiki handles them differently and I can't persuade the coordinate buffs to accept the deg/min/sec format)? Second, do we want to add some of the additional parameters used on de.wiki to the en.wiki template? Otherwise we just lose that information.--Bermicourt (talk) 19:10, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
The fields that are missing with my thoughts are:
- BILD2 to BILD5 and associated caption fields - not necessary; I almost prefer extra images to go into a gallery or the text.
- ABFLUSS - "Tailwaters". Useful if the streams into the reservoir are different from those below the dam. ZUFLUSS then becomes "headwaters".
- UFERSTADT, UFERORT, NAHESTADT, NAHERORT - up to the dam experts whether they want to add info on lakeside towns and villages
- COORD - this is always a problem, but I usually get round it by converting the data to decimal
Then a bunch of dam data. Not my expertise as to whether these are important:
- TALHOEHE - "Height above valley floor" Done'
- GRUENDUNGSHOEHE - "Structural height" Done'
- WASSERHOEHE - "Hydraulic height" Done, hydraulic head on Infobox dam
- KRONENHOEHE - "Height above sea level" Done
- RADIUS - "Curve radius" Done
- NEIGUNG-LUFT - "Downstream face slope"
- NEIGUNG-WASSER - "Upstream face slope"
- STAUZIEL - "Normal water surface" Done
- SEELAENGE and SEEBREITE - "Reservoir length and width" Done
- HOCHWASSER - "Design flood"
...and finally a couple of text boxes which may contain important info:
- BESONDERHEITEN - "Special features"
- ANMERKUNGEN - "Remarks" Done
My view in general is that, if the information is provided, why not display it? Otherwise we lose information unnecessarily. If some of these fields are not widely used already, fine, they just won't display in the box. But I'm not hard over on this - dams are not my area of expertise. I just don't like to see information lost.
Subjectively I also prefer the appearance, colour scheme and format of the German Wiki infobox and wonder whether it's worth discussing changing to this at the Dam project? --Bermicourt (talk) 07:53, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
- Ok, I was just adding some fields and I added Done above next to those I added to Infobox dam and the en.wikipedia Stausse. A few comments on the additional fields:
- Tailwaters - if the dam is below a junction, those rivers are usually mentioned in the lead. Otherwise, the dam is always on one river and impounds it as such.
- Design flood - Infobox dam has spillway capacity and spillway info which surprisingly Stausse doesn't have.
- Downstream/upstream slope - too detailed, often not given by owner/contractor.
- BILD1-5 - extra photos can be placed in the article.
- Other towns nearby (UFERSTADT, UFERORT, NAHESTADT, NAHERORT) - locale suffices. These fields may be more appropriate for the reservoir infobox.
- Coord - Infobox dam still supports a "coordinates=" field.
- Overall, I don't want to over-complicate the infobox. A lot of the extra little details can be placed in the prose. We already have a problem where the infobox is often substantially longer then the actual article and an editor might get confused. Also, there are a lot of fields that Infobox dam has but Infobox stausse doesn't such as spillway info, reservoir depth, etc. Additionally, we usually use the {{Convert}} template to convert metric which will have to be fixed in a transition; Stausee assumes metric in the fields. Right now, only the number shows up. I almost had it fixed but hit too many errors. I will ask Rehman.
- I think the Infobox stausee draft on English wikipedia suffices and any other information can be put into the prose or in some cases lost. I don't see a heavyuse of Stausse and you are the primary user. I can help out with new dam articles brought over and your English is good enough that some of the fields (coordinate/construction dates) can be navigated and fixed. As far as the color and design, I liked the dark blue we had before and also the Infobox had to be reformatted per WP standards. If you want to change the color or add anymore fields, please discuss atTemplate_talk:Infobox_dam. I will do some maintenance and apply the new infobox. I think we did a good thing here and most of the fields are added. Like you said, it would be good to have something like this across the Wikipedias.--NortyNort (Holla)
- Sounds good.
- Is there any relationship between "hydraulic head/height" and "reservoir depth"?
- Is there any relationship between "design flood" and "spillway capacity"?
- Perhaps "spillway info" would be covered in the more general "remarks" field on de.wiki?
--Bermicourt (talk) 10:02, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
- Hydraulic height sounds like hydraulic head to me. Infobox dam has a reservoir depth field but the depth of a reservoir is usually much higher (20-30% or so) than the hydraulic head. Hydraulic head can be listed and given as average, maximum, minimum and net. I usually list the average and note it as average in the field. Design flood is the combined design discharge capacity of the dam to include the power station, outlet works and spillway. That specification, if given, is usually listed in the prose. Maximum flood is sometimes listed as well. I am surprised Infobox stausee doesn't have information on spillways, with all the other details it has. I guess you could put it in the remarks. If you convince the folks over on de.wikipedia to add it, it can be transitioned here easily. By the way, I added "m" "m
3" and "km2" to the Infobox stausee dam articles. {{Convert}}could be used as well.--NortyNort (Holla) 10:11, 20 March 2011 (UTC) - Also, is "GEO-LAGE" a good field for the coordinates or another?--NortyNort (Holla) 11:45, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

You know, some day a big grumpy bot might poke in and delete your uploads and reupload it under a bot account at Commons. ;) Why not transfer/reupload them to Commons, so that it's accessible to other wikis and more deletion-proof (anyone can delete those files per F8without warning)? Rehman 14:25, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads up. I just moved my first file from a Wikipedia to Commons last week and was thinking about doing the rest here soon. F8 is only if they are available on commons already which a bunch of those aren't, yet. I'll beat the bot.--NortyNort (Holla) 21:12, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

Hi, Hope you are doing well; Being the IT personal of JS Group, i have the copyright of the material which i posted on wikipedia from this URL http://www.pak-times.com/2009/05/14/a-self-made-jahangir-siddiqui-in-the-beginning, which you have deleted from wikipedia. some of our rivals are trying to degrade our esteem organization which we cannot tolerate. so you are requested to please restore the material which we posted on 17th March 2011 at 12:38.

- Hey Zahid, I am doing well. I hope you are as well. I wasn't the user that removed the copyrighted material from JS Group but I tagged it as a possible copyright violation. I can't confirm you have the copyright for that article here but that would have to be at the Pakistan Times website. Besides the copyright, there were several problems with having that entire news article pasted into the JS Group article and also with you working for JS Group. When you placed the article in there, it removed all the previous information, including the lead section and categories. Also, copying and pasting another person's work - in this case Salman A. Sheikh's - is plagiarism, which is against policy unless properly cited in certain cases. In addition, there was edit-warring occurring at the article regarding neutral point of view issues. This is why the article is now protected from specific groups of editors. The placement of that entire article removed any other point of view regarding JS Group. With you working for JS Group, that is a conflict of interest and based off of your contributions, your account on Wikipedia is serving as asingle-purpose one. Essentially, you are encouraged to edit on Wikipedia, but there are several policies we all have to abide by. Other editors can include information about JS Group as long as the information is notable, reliableand the article remains neutral with due weight on different points of view. That may mean that not so good information about a subject is in an article. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and is not here to serve a specific organization, place or person. Most importantly here, Wikipedia is not a battleground for different editors. For more information on Wikipedia policies, see the five pillars or feel free to ask. Any issue with the article can be addressed on the article's talk page here.--NortyNort (Holla) 09:19, 23 March 2011 (UTC)

Multiple arch dams
Thanks for your comment regarding my comment from the book on multiple arch dams being disfavored. I came across it after checking some items spurred by your DYK on the Marathon Dam. I know that some multiple arch dams, where the design and planning were started prior to the Gleno Dam failure (another one of your DYKs!), were then completed later. Also, the term "disfavored" (used in the ref. book) does not imply that no multiple arch dams were later constructed. But if the arch dam article is less than acurate, I would certainly "favor" its revision! Deanlaw(talk) 14:06, 24 March 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Yanick Crow
Hello NortyNort. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Yanick Crow, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: full Professor is enough to pass A7. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 12:10, 27 March 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you, I wasn't aware of that.--NortyNort (Holla) 12:19, 27 March 2011 (UTC)
Thank you
Hi NortyNort. Thanks so much for the positive feedback about the little Johnson Park article I put up earlier. And, a special thanks to you for correcting the title of the article. I couldn't work out how to do it myself without running into conflict with articles about other Johnson Parks. There must be a tip on that somwhere or is it editor's discretion? Many thanks again. Cheers Jesaulenko (talk) 12:37, 27 March 2011 (UTC)
- Your welcome! Replied at your talk page.--NortyNort (Holla) 13:34, 27 March 2011 (UTC)
Thanks so much for that tip NortyNort. I really appreciate you taking the time to provide that explanation. It can be quite intimidating coming to Wikipedia to add something. This sort of guidance is really helpful for new people trying to add contributions to this excellent resource. All the best again, Jesaulenko (talk) 12:17, 28 March 2011 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion of Heritage Brewing
User:Nyttend put a speedy deletion tag on the article Heritage Brewing. Unfortunately I was not given an opportunity to contest the deletion. I comment on that person's Talk page. This is what I wrote:
my comment to User:Nyttend re deletion of the Heritage Brewing page
"If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding "hang on" to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag;" What is the point of the hang on tag is you delete the page before anyone gets to comment. The {[:Heritage Brewing]] page you deleted can not be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person because the company no longer exists. The article was written to start documenting the history of a local company that existed in a community that was at the forefront of the resurgence of people paying attention to local food and breweries and at the same time rejecting the control and influence of big corporations and other large centralized organization who spout the old ways. This article is no more an article about a company, corporation, organization, or group, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject than any article in categories Category:Canadian brewing companies, Category:Beer and breweries in Canada, etc. Quit freaking out and pissing off editors by proposing everything be deleted.
Mr.Badlands (talk) 03:33, 31 March 2011 (UTC)
- Your latest article wasn't on the brewery but you had recreated it with you rationale of why it should be included. There was no information on the brewery in the article. That is why it was deleted under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you believe it is notable under WP:CORP, try recreating it and using a neutral tone. If you need help, let me know.--NortyNort (Holla) 10:45, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion of Heritage Brewing
The original Heritage Brewing article was subject to a speedy deletion by User:Nyttend. I am not sure why as it was similar to all the other articles in the Category:Canadian brewing companies, Category:Beer and breweries in Canada, etc categories. The article had existed for a number of days and was slowly growing in length and included references to various national media. I do not understand why it was deleted. I guess that I will have to blindly accept the decision of the admins and all their Omnipotence. As an aside, since the article was speedy deleted there is no way that I can see last version of the article and rewrite it in a more neutral tone. Mr.Badlands (talk) 02:26, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
- You can request on User talk:Nyttend that he send you the original text of the article. I never saw the original article and am not an administrator, so I cannot restore deleted articles. Nyttend will most likely place the article in your user space where you can work on it.--NortyNort (Holla) 02:43, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
Speedy deleting Jason Hudson?
Hey, i got a message from you. Why you "speedy delete" my article? — Precedingunsigned comment added by Poseidon1224 (talk •contribs) 11:52, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
- It was copied and pasted from here: http://www.gaiaonline.com/profiles/l-ezio-l/25295371/, a website with no visible copyright terms, so the article is treated as a copyright violation. No harm meant, but Wikipedia takes copyrights seriously.--NortyNort (Holla) 12:00, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
- Oh right... but why my page are deleted?-- User: Poseidon1224 User talk: Poseidon1224 1 April 2011 (UTC)
- If the entire article is a copyright violation, it is marked for speedy deletion, there is nothing to salvage. For what it's worth too, I don't know of any Call of Duty characters that have their own articles. An article on such a character may be deleted in other deletion processes if it fails notability guidelines. Wikipedia is a place that anyone cant edit but guidelines exist to keep only certain notable content in the encyclopedia. It can be a bummer at times, but it's a way of having a good encyclopedia.--NortyNort (Holla) 14:45, 2 April 2011 (UTC)
- No! My article isn't a copyright violation, I just..i just know about everything to the character, Why my article killed by other users?--User: Poseidon1224
- The website it was copied from doesn't seem to state copyright terms so it isassumed to be copyrighted.--NortyNort (Holla) 02:23, 6 April 2011 (UTC)
Deletion of Nordcenter
Hi, as you notice perhaps English isn´t my native language and I don´t know how well I will be able to express my thoughts. But the problem is that the username is the company name because of the conflict of copyrights. I like to write the article as private person, but still the source of the information is Nordcenter´s homepage as there is all the information and I have their permission to use it as a primarly source of the article and also the username under their email address. In Finnish Wikipedia this was needed in order to prove that I have the permission to copyrights for the information. I tried to write in neutral point of view, but most of the people who write these articles must also have personal interest in order to be able to write the articles and know something about the topic. Please help me what can I do so my home club with all the info can be found also in English Wikipedia. Nordcenter (talk) 10:10, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
- Well, if you have permission to use the text, it needs to be verified by OTRS. An OTRS volunteer will then tag the talk page of the article. One of the problems with copying and pasting, especially from a company/organization's website, is that the information is geared towards advertising and doesn't maintain a neutral point of view. With your username as well, it appears you are writing the article on behalf of Nordcenter. This is strongly discouraged on Wikipedia. If you want to write as a private editor and edit other articles on Wikipedia as well, consider changing your username. There is an endless topics to write on here. There would be an inevitable rewording. You should also consider the notability of Nordcenter to determine if it meets inclusion as an article on Wikipedia. I recommend working on something in a user subpage before creating an article again. There are some golf course articles in these categories as examples:Category:Golf_clubs_and_courses_by_country. Any questions, let me know.--NortyNort (Holla) 00:22, 6 April 2011 (UTC)
I noticed that you left a comment on Health in Ghana in Ghana recently, and I decided to expand it. If you help with the expansion in the next couple days, I would definitely share DYK credit! Sadads (talk) 14:40, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
- I will see what I can do. Healthcare isn't my specialty but I'll look it over more. You don't have to put me down for credit in any case, you did a lot of work on your own. The article is currently at an eligible DYK 5x but with some the text coming from other articles, it will need to be expanded more. What kind of a hook were you thinking?--NortyNort (Holla) 02:45, 6 April 2011 (UTC)
- I already nominated it because much of the text was written/expanded today, and it has been at least 10x the length in characters (I checked before nominating it at Template_talk:Did_you_know#Health_in_Ghana). Any more expansion that you would like to offer in the next couple days would be great! Sadads (talk) 03:05, 6 April 2011 (UTC)
- Okay, well I didn't get into the expansion, I just meant to say it may need to be expanded more. I look forward to seeing it on the main page.--NortyNort (Holla) 08:41, 6 April 2011 (UTC)

File:PRESA SAN JERÓNIMO 2.jpg
The picture was released into the public domain from its source[1]. The source gave no indication of copyright, and the picture is available for download, therefore no acknowledgement of the author is indicated. The picture was uploaded in panoramio.com by "misael diaz" who actually copied the picture and posted it [2] with other pictures. This was on October 2009. The photo was published on it true source on February 2009. User:OsotedeMonte--V. Villalvaso 17:14, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
- There is no indication that the picture is public domain. I can't see terms on the website and haven't been able to locate anything in Mexican copyright law indicating so. Therefore, a copyright must be assumed. Also,at the file page, you indicated yourself as the author and license holder which we know is incorrect. Unless a proper license is cited for the photo, it has to be deleted. The user on Panoramio appears incorrect as well. Here is an example of a properly licensed PD image and here is one I took and properly cited. SeeWP:Copyright for more information; copyrights need to be stated and verifiable.--NortyNort (Holla) 23:44, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
