Browser application

edit

Hello! I saw the article you recently created under the title browser application, and after a bit of a search I found Wikipedia already has a lengthy article on the subject at "web application". As far as I can see both articles are about the same topic, and "web application" already has redirects at "browser-based" and "browser-based software", so I tagged your article with a proposed merge tag (rather than just railroading your article into another redirect). I wondered if I could get your opinion on which title is more appropriate though - in my opinion, "browser" or "browser-based" should be in there somewhere, because as the article at "web application" states such applications need not be provided over the WWW, and could be deployed on an intranet. Your thoughts? Maybe start a discussion on Talk:Web application? ~Matticus TC 14:50, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Argg... I thought I searched for "Web Application" before starting that article, sorry for the duplication, I must have had a misspelling in my search. The two could be merged, but as I've watched the technology evolve, I think that Google Gears marks a new subset of applications wholly different from "Web Applications" where the internet connectivity is no longer a requirement to use the software on one's local computer. Today, the world still looks at any browser-based application as just another web application, but I don't beleive that's accurate anymore. What is the best "Wiki" way to deal with this? I'm copying this thread to the discussion page for open input. Nrcjersey 15:10, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
My point exactly - browser-based software does seem to be developing in a direction that means the term "web application" is a bit of a misnomer, or at least not sufficient to describe them in toto. I know, I deal with a number of intranet-based applications at my work that are available on an intranet, run through a browser, plug into a PostgreSQL or MySQL-based back end, use HTML and Flash or Java-based middle layers, but could not really be described as "Web" applications, strictly speaking. I'm not all that familiar with Google Gears so I can't comment on whether it does constitute a new direction for browser-based apps or merely an evolution, but one should be wary of crystal ballery here. Anyway, perhaps merge the articles for now, then propose a name change at WP:RM? ~Matticus TC 16:49, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your contributed article, Drip Marketing

edit

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, Drip Marketing. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as yourself. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - E-mail drip marketing. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will to continue helping improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at E-mail drip marketing - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. — Timneu22 · talk 12:18, 22 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of AddressTwo

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on AddressTwo requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. reddogsix (talk) 22:01, 18 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of AddressTwo

A tag has been placed on AddressTwo, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
