Edmonson County

edit

Please stop adding communities to the cities line of the Edmonson County template. Whether or not they have post offices, they are not cities, but unincorporated communities. For proof, look at this Census Bureau website, which shows all incorporated cities in a county — you can see that they're not incorporated. Nyttend (talk) 14:15, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Quake2.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Quake2.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 09:05, 21 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hines House

edit

As you are from Bowling Green, I wondered if you could help me. I thought I had taken the picture of the Hines House, but it might actually be the Elouise B. Houchens Center for Women. Hines is at 1103 Adams St, and Houchens is 1115 Adams St. If its Houchens, I have to rename the image. Thanks for any help.--Bedford 07:59, 25 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Redroninrobot1.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:58, 24 August 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sdrtirs (talk) 20:58, 24 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Redroninrobot1.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sdrtirs (talk) 20:58, 24 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:Typhoonbeetle.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Typhoonbeetle.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 03:15, 29 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Typhoon Reassesment

edit

No problem, and yes getting creator background on lesser characetrs is tricky but when they get involved with major storylines they can often be discussed in passing as to why such and such was chosen, for example, so it is worth digging around. I find using Google's site search on Comic Book Resources and Newsarama can throw up useful material. What would be great is the thinking of the creator when he came up with the character but that is always going to be difficult, especially for pre-Internet characters.

Also on the powers, we need to keep in mind that they are fictional characters, written by a large number of creators (where powers can be upgraded or downgraded according to the needs of the storyline), so they don't have measurable abilities (they haven't earned a black belt in a martial art and haven't actually bench pressed large amounts) - what we can say is that they have been shown doing X in issue Y. So keep an eye out for the first appearance of an ability, any discussion of it (if useful - I have seen "has the power of a million exploding suns" in a P&A section before!!) and, of course, any discussion by creators on their abilities is handy.

However, the article is fine for the casual reader wanted to check out who the character is, or what they have been up to recently, so it gets a C. Round it to more of an in-depth encyclopedic article will get it on the road to a B.

Hope that helps. (Emperor (talk) 18:58, 21 April 2009 (UTC))Reply

Yes that is exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. P&A can be difficult but we do need to verify statements so if someone was wondering when something was demonstrated they can always check. (Emperor (talk) 02:28, 22 April 2009 (UTC))Reply

Proposed deletion of Kentucky Route 743

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Kentucky Route 743, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Unsourced and does not indicate notability.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. -- Jeandré, 2009-05-02t16:25z 16:25, 2 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Fair use rationale for File:Fangry.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Fangry.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Proposed deletion of Typhoon (comics)

edit

The article Typhoon (comics) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The fictional characters do not meet the general notability guideline as a stand-alone subject.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Thank you for uploading File:DiddleStatue.JPG.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the image description page states the source and copyright status of the derivative work, it only names the creator of the original work without specifying the status of their copyright over the work.

Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the original image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
