Thanks for your welcome. Iam enjoying the learning - a complete novice. Struggled with inserting a numbered reference today which is a bit frustrating as I did it yesterday!
Yes, I intend to stay. I want to add more occupational therapists. The profession was established in the early 1900s and has grown to around 500,000 in 100+ countries today. I think there are less than 30 entries about our pioneers and contemporary folk. This is why I am experimenting with editing before I progress to creating an entry. Occupational Therapy History Matters (talk) 15:48, 4 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Those both sound excellent plans. Do you use the Cite template drop-down when editing? That's really useful (it's to the right of the top of the edit box). Tacyarg (talk) 16:03, 4 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for correcting my error. I think I used the Cite template - but not properly. Will go back to the instructions.
Don't think the minor changes made to E Casson affected her index/categorisation/listing at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Occupational_therapists
I replaced doctor and occupational therapist with psychiatrist (verified by the reference/citation you corrected). Hope I haven't upset the listing function! Occupational Therapy History Matters (talk) 08:42, 5 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi, today I've been learning about the Categories on Wikipedia. Please ignore my last question/comment. I haven't yet changed E. Casson's category.
I think some occupational therapists are miss-classified as Occupational health health practitioners. Today I changed Kamala Nimbkar's category from Occupational health health practitioners to occupational therapists.
My next task is to try to track down all the occupational therapists and make sure they are correctly categorised / indexed and searchable. Occupational Therapy History Matters (talk) 21:26, 5 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Women in Red

edit

Hi there, Occupational Therapy History Matters, and welcome to Women in Red. It's good to see you intend to help us chip away at the gender gap on Wikipedia. As a new contributor, in addition to the links in the above welcome message, you might find it useful to look at some of our Essays, perhaps starting with our Ten Simple Rules. You might find it useful to look through our redlinks on healthcare which also include a number of occupational therapists. I would be happy to help you along with your first biography. Just let me know when you think my feedback would be useful. And let me know if you run into any difficulties or need assistance. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 14:39, 14 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Many thanks. I appreciate you reaching out.
I am starting small - editing and trying to find occupational therapists and then add them to this Category. I want to find out the number of entries, from which countries and whether the entry is about their contribution to the profession, or something else, such as a sportsperson or another career. Thanks for the tip about redlinks. I will follow this up. I want to get a baseline for my endeavours and evidence to use / encourage others to create entries. I've started a 'wiki diary' on my twitter account @HistoryOt
Then, I will focus on doing a biography and will certainly call upon your expertise. Occupational Therapy History Matters (talk) 15:01, 14 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
I look forward to helping you along. I'm glad to see we now have a redlist of occupational therapists. I hope you find some interesting names. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 09:20, 15 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yes, 44 very interesting names, thanks to Tagishsimon.
May I ask a question: how does Wikipedia know about - identify these occupational therapists? I've scanned some entries and couldn't find a source. Just curious and likely to want to add others in due course. Thanks. Occupational Therapy History Matters (talk) 09:29, 16 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

March 2023

edit

Hi Occupational Therapy History Matters! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Kj cheetham (talk) 11:43, 11 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks very much for this clarification. I will take note of the meaning of 'minor edit' in the future. Sorry, I know that I've added references and a few sentences to other entries over the last couple of months and labeled them changes as minor edits. I will not do this again. Occupational Therapy History Matters (talk) 16:23, 11 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
It's not a big deal, just something to be aware of going forward. :) Keep up the good work! -Kj cheetham (talk) 16:44, 11 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, I appreciate feedback and being pointed in the right direction. There is so much to learn - but I love learning! I will try to improve Dilanthi Amaratunga's entry later this month, when I am back from holiday. Occupational Therapy History Matters (talk) 16:52, 11 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

edit

In July 2015 around 15.5% of the English Wikipedia's biographies were about women. As of July 2023, 19.61% of the English Wikipedia's biographies are about women. That's a lot of biographies created in the effort to close the gender gap. Happy 8th Anniversary!
