Not sure what this[1] was about. Near as I can tell, G7 doesn't apply to categories in the way you were attempting to apply it. Is there a reason you feel that the category should be speedily deleted? EVula // talk // // 02:31, 11 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've tagged several other categories with such tags, and they've been deleted as a result. Most recently, there was Category:Battery electric vehicle organizations. There were others before, but I've`only started to keep track of it recently. Od Mishehu 05:12, 11 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well, considering that categories being blank is totally different from an article being blank, I still don't feel that G7 is appropriate. EVula // talk // // 14:09, 11 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Deleting cats

Thanks for the tip. I think I did raise it on the comics project page as I wasn't sure if blanking it was enough. I'll keep the tip in mind for next time. (12:41, 21 May 2007 (UTC))

Did you not read my edit? Moved to Comic book publishing companies of India - I don't know how to rename a cat or move it, so I deleted the empty category as best I could. Not a vandal :) -- Ipstenu (talk|contribs) 13:30, 24 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Brya sock puppet suggestions.

Thanks for the suggestion. You answered the question I asked, and you gave me the correct link, and 9 more sock puppets showed up and were all tagged and blocked by the folks at check user. Thank you very much for reducing my work load. KP Botany 00:34, 28 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Prod

The reason I re-added the prod template was because the user didn't know what a prod template did. He/she kept putting the "hangon" template up, which is obviously for speedy deletions (and sometimes when people put the hangon template up they remove the speedy tag because they don't know any better, I figured it was the same here).danielfolsom 11:23, 29 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

The user kept saying that he just wanted some time to improve it before it was nominated for deletion - but the prod tag gives five days, I mean it wasn't like I was saying "NO! You can't save your page!", I just figured he didn't know policy.danielfolsom 11:28, 29 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
That being said I think I'll just nominate the article for regular deletion now, since there are no refrences and it appears that the first user (whoever put the prod tag up) was right about it not meating the requirements for notability.danielfolsom 11:30, 29 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

re: Marking uncategorized stubs

I suppose it would "help" with the backlog at Category:Stubs, but only by ignoring them, and it'd worsen the consistently larger backlog at CAT:NOCAT. Discussion both at WP:UNCAT and WP:UNCAT has brtoadly favoured the way I'm doing this at present, rather than the way you suggest. Alai 16:06, 31 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the welcome!

Thanks for the welcome message! I do have one question you can hopefully help me answer. I see a lot of abbreviations and jargon in the edit summaries, and I'm not quite sure what they all mean. These are things like "rv linkspam" or "rv whitewash attack." I've figured out some of them on my own, but I'd like to use the correct terms in my own edit summaries too. Is there a list of these abbreviations and terminology somewhere? I have looked, but didn't find anything.

I appreciate your help! WeisheitSuchen 14:31, 3 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Doing a quick search, I found WP:ESL, which I believe is what you want. Od Mishehu 07:36, 4 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I note you removed the PROD. Want to talk about it? --jbmurray (talk|contribs) 09:34, 4 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Responded there. Od Mishehu 10:42, 4 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
I think you are mistaken, I didn't add the PROD I only reverted an edit by an IP that removed it without prior discussion. -凶 20:36, 4 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Category:Rathbone/Bruce films

I thought I'd indicated in the renaming that the slash seemed to cause a problem in the URLs...regardless, I renamed it to Category:Rathbone-Bruce films, which is what is used on the pages in that category now. Feel free to delete Category:Rathbone/Bruce films (with the slash, but not with the dash ;-) Afabbro 14:10, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the comments about Sean Parker-Perry

Thanks for the comments about Sean Parker-Perry. WP:PROD my not have been my greatest idea. I never noticed that the article had ever been tagged. Prod is always a good way of getting editors to improve articles that have no substance or notability. Afd seems harsh but I do take your thinking that it may improve an article. I have listed the Sean Parker Perry Afd] Thanks for your guidance. Mike33 11:34, 10 June 2007 (UTC) Reply

BBC Radio Survey

The above is a hoax article. No such thing exists. The article had PROD on it but the author/hoaxer took it off. I put it back but you suggested that the PROD was now contested and that we use AfD insead. Policy says that PROD can't be removed by the original article author. If so, perhaps it doesn't count as a valid contest and I was right to put it back on, but I will leave it off for now. Anyway, I don't know the process doing AfD, so I was wondering if you would mind setting it in motion, if you still think we need it. Thanks. --DanielRigal 15:47, 12 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

The following is a quote from WP:PROD:

If anyone, including the article's creator, removes Template:Prod from an article for any reason, do not put it back, except if the removal was clearly not an objection to deletion (such as blanking the entire article, or removing the tag along with inserting blatant nonsense);

According to this, the author does have the right to contest the PROD, and if he does - PROD is no longer an option for that article.
The article has been listed already at AfD; feel free to vote. For future reference, to list an article there, follow the following steps:
  1. Place a {{subst:AfD}} at the top of the page.
  2. Click on the Preload debate link at the bottom of the AfD template.
  3. Follow the instructions at the top of the loaded page.
Od Mishehu 06:28, 13 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
OK. Thanks for that. I had missed the subtlety where it is against the rules to remove the PROD but also against the rules to put it back.--DanielRigal 09:37, 13 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Epidemic!

Things like that qualify under WP:CSD#G12 as speedy copyright violations and I delted it as such. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 09:19, 13 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I tend to be careful about marking pages under CSD12. I know it exists, but I'm not sure what counts as blatant - and even if it isn't blatant, the page will be deleted anyway. Od Mishehu 15:29, 20 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sahana(song)

Where has its deletion been questioned and why is it controversial? Where is this controversy you're talking about? A link will help. Thanks. Sarvagnya 07:50, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

If AVTN removed the {{prod}} tag - this means that AVTN thinks it shouldn't be deleted using PROD. According to WP:PROD:

If anyone, including the article's creator, removes Template:Prod from an article for any reason, do not put it back, except if the removal was clearly not an objection to deletion

Accroding to this, the article can't be deleted using PROD anymore. Od Mishehu 07:54, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
AVTN proded all of them himself and inexplicably removed them. His removing them was not because there was any controversy or that anybody questioned the proding but only for reasons best known to himself. I also asked him why he had de-proded them himself, but he hasnt replied yet. Also your reading of the policy is obviously flawed. AVTN didnt remove the prod for "any reason". Infact, he's assigned no reason for removing the tag. There is no evidence that either he or anyone else is contesting the tag. Sarvagnya 08:21, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Request

If your article is not yet ready for public viewing, it's not a good idea to construct it in mainspace. May I suggest that you move it to a subpage of your userspace until such time as it is ready to be seen? Thank you. DS 14:17, 26 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Usually I would. However, by placing it in the mainspace, I'm ensuring the following:
  1. other users can edit the sections I'm done with.
  2. Interwiki bots will know about it.
  3. It's a task from Portal:Israel. I removed it from there on the basis of the fact that it's an article which is officially being worked on.

John Divers

Hi, sorry if I've messed up. One of the factors with the John Divers page was that it contained information on two different John Divers, father and son. Given that the history would not fully relate to either of the two new pages I'd created, I though just copying out the information on each was the best way to deal with the situation. Can you advise what I should do in future similar instances.

P.S. on the point of similar instances, the article Alfie Conn had a similar issue with two different people listed on the one page, again father and son. In that instance, I moved the article to Alfie Conn, Jr. and created a separate Alfie Conn, Sr. page, although some of the history would have applied to the Alfie senior page. Is there a way to split the history between two articles? Caledonian Place 08:52, 20 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

In theory, there is; however, the versions in the history would then each reflect the version of the unified page as it was then - with both sections. Od Mishehu 07:02, 23 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Why delete quotes from Domsiah rice-article?

Hello Od Mishehu. I am honored that someone read my stub about Domsiah rice.

I find it strange, that you deleted the quote which is as far as I can see the best way to illustrate the importance of research and scrutiny in matters related to agriculture. This article should end up as an Agriculture article, I think. It seems that there are so many things man can learn and improve by studying agriculture.

If I do not hear from you I will add not quote but re-writing of the information found in the FAO and International Rice Commission Newsletter.

Regards, Donald Axel (donald_j_axel).

Such a section is, in my opinion, a copyright violation. Feel free to linl there. Od Mishehu 13:00, 20 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

VeblenBot table

Thanks for removing the table from CAT:PER when the bot wasn't running. I was fortunate to see your edit and realize the bot wasn't working. It would have been helpful for me if you had left a note on my talk page to point out that the bot had stopped, since I would have fixed it sooner if I was aware. — Carl (CBM · talk) 13:12, 20 September 2007 (UTC) Reply

I owe you a big thank you for supporting me in My RfA, which was successful with 67 supports and 20 opposes. - Penwhale | Blast him / Follow his steps 23:48, 22 September 2007 (UTC) Reply

Thanks for the support.

Hello Od Mishehu,

Thanks for supporting my RfA nomination; it closed a few hours ago, yielding a promotion.

Although I was concerned about mentioning the UAA incident, I am glad that the nomination was successful regardless. I especially appreciate your comments in support of the nomination; although I stated my intentions to work elsewhere, it seemed to have escaped a few of the participants. I can only hope that your participation helped keep the nomination on track.

Anyway, I shall do my best to be of service to the community at large. Should you find yourself in need of assistance with actions requiring administrative access, please feel free to contact me. Cheers, --Aarktica 01:40, 10 October 2007 (UTC) Reply

I am sorry you felt it necessary to oppose my recent RfA, which did not succeed. I will attempt to get more experience in the main namespace and the Wikipedia namespace and will try again for RfA in two month's time. I hope I will have satisfied your concerns about me becoming an "admon" by then, but if not, please comment as you feel you should. Thanks for participating in my RfA. -- Cobi(t|c|b|cn) 07:53, 11 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
